  1. Hi ladies, I will be getting married on the Carnival Glory in Miami on April 25, 2010, then sailing on a 7-day eastern carribean cruise. I am working on my save-the-dates now and hope to have them in the mail in the next week or so. I'm also working on my wedding website and carnival wedding registry website, which I want to have finished before I send out my save-the-dates. As of now, we have verbal confirmation that at least 6 family and friends will be sailing with us. My travel agent has set aside a small number of staterooms that will be held until November 2009. I'm not expecting many people to attend the wedding since most will have to travel and may not be able to afford it. But, I may be surprised. My mom thinks I should just invite everyone, since most people proably won't make it anyway, but I told her that I need to be prepared in case everyone says yes. Carnival only allows 50 non-sailing guests. If I end up with more than that responding yes, am I just supposed to tell some people, "sorry, I didn't mean to invite you"? So, I am going to include preliminary rsvp cards with my save-the-dates to see how many plan to attend or not. If I end up getting some "no" responses, I'll extend the invitations/save-the-dates to the next people on the guest list. There is so much that goes into planning a wedding...
  2. Wow, looks great. I am working on my STD package now. I'm waiting on delivery of my save-the-date magnets, rsvp postcards, and stamps from zazzle.com. I still have to draft my letter. Your letter gives me some ideas for the wording. I will post mine to the site once I get all of my stuff together.
  3. I think #1 and #3 look the best and most flattering for your figure from the front view. The sweetheart neckline looks great on you.
  4. Congratulations and welcome to the forum. I'm like you, I just want the big day to get here already. My fiancee has to keep telling me not to worry about the details.
  5. Congrats and welcome to the forum! I'm not finished with my wedding planning yet so I'm not quite sure about the total costs, but $20-$25K sounds reasonable... unless you get into paying for others travel expenses.
  6. That is so sweet! Congratulations! By the way, I am a U of I alumni. Champaign is also my hometown.
  7. I like the Hip Hop Abs videos. I bought these videos in a set of 5 off of QVC.com. I tend to only use one of the DVDs in the set, which is the 45-minute total body workout. I like these videos because it kind of feels like you are dancing, but you are definitley getting a workout the entire time. I'm not sure if you can buy the vidoes in stores though.
  8. Congrats and welcome!
  9. Congrats and welcome!
  10. The dress looks great on you. I am still searching for my dress. So much to choose from...
  11. OK... I know this may not be the first engagement by a fortune cookie, but it's something I will never forget. We got engaged on August 1st, 2009. My fiancee asked me to marry him via a fortune cookie. I was talking to him on the phone while he was driving over to visit. I asked him if he wanted me to throw a couple of steaks on the grill for dinner and he said that he felt like going to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. So, I picked a place close to my house that neither of us had been to before. What I did not know is that my fiancee had this fortune cookie in his jacket pocket that he had specially ordered with a ring and fortune inside that said "XXXXX, Will You Marry Me". He also had the real engagement ring in his jacket pocket. His plans were to talk to the waitress and have her bring the fortune cookie to me at the end of the meal. But the restaurant was an open set-up, so he didn't get a chance to do pull her aside. At the end of the meal, we had our leftovers boxed up and went home. When we got home he was said, let's open our fortune cookies. He was pushing me to open mine first, which I thought was strange. When I opened the fortune cookie, I noticed that the fortune had my name on it; it said "XXXXX, will you marry me" and had a ring in it. He had my real engagement ring in a separate box. My engagement ring is garnet with diamonds around it and the band (garnet is my birthstone and diamond is his). My fiancee says the thing he will remember most about that day is that about 30 minutes after he proposed, I asked him, “Did I say Yes?†I was so proud of him for pulling it off and surprising me!
