  1. It's beautiful... I will be wearing a Maggie gown for my wedding too.
  2. Definitely #2. I like the detail in the front and the unique back. Do you know what the back of #1 looks like?
  3. I just wanted to update everyone… I chose the Maggie Sottero-Carrie dress in ivory! I ordered it this past Sunday. Thanks everyone for your feedback and compliments and helping to steer me in the right direction. The Maggie Sottero-Carrie dress I was really concerned about wearing a strapless dress because I have a 3rd degree burn on my chest that I don’t like to show. I was concerned about it showing in pictures. I tried on another dress that had a high neck and would cover my scar. It was a beautiful dress in person, a Mori Lee design, but not as flattering as the Maggie Sottero. The Mori Lee dress I was really considering getting the Mori Lee dress so I wouldn’t have to worry about covering my burn. Well, I finally found a scar makeup (Dermablend) that covers my scar pretty well and doesn’t smudge easily. However, the raised outline of my burn on the left side is still visible even with the makeup. So, the bridal shop is going to make some modifications to the Maggie Sottero dress for me when it comes in. They are going to add an asymmetrical one-shoulder strap (over the left shoulder) by piecing together some lace straps (probably 3 to 4). Apparently, they can order the straps from the designer. Below are pictures of the type of straps they will be using and the type of asymmetrical shape I am going for. Asymmetrical shape (but will go over left shoulder) Type of straps that will be used to make asymmetrical shape The dress won't arrive until the second week in January. The modifications probably won't be done until the end of February or beginning of March, so it will be a while before I’ll be able to show you the finished product. I can’t wait!

  9. Welcome Lyn and congrats on your upcoming wedding!
  10. Wow, you look gorgeous in makeup. You should definitely do makeup for your wedding. Glad your FI's cousin convinced you to try it.
  11. We included preliminary RSVP postcards (with postage) in our STDs and we also have a link on our wedding website where people can RSVP (we have a note stating that it is a preliminary RSVP to get an estimated headcount for planning purposes). I also plan on emailing a reminder or two to our guests a week or two before the RSVP deadline. We've only gotten an RSVP from my parents, but it has only been a week since we sent out our STDs. I'm not sure how many people will actually mail in the RSVP postcards though. I did a similar thing when I planned my family reunion a couple of yeas ago. It was like pulling teeth to get people to give me an answer. I ended up calling and emailing most people to find out if they were attending or not. I mean, it can't be that hard to put your name and a couple of X's on a postcard and drop it in the mail can it (especially when postage is already included)? You may just have to keep calling and emailing your guests until you get a "yes" or "no" response from everyone.

I do like them, but I just dont like any dress on me. I feel so large. Thanks for the replies....I know its hard to imagine someone in a dress. I like hearing other peoples perspectives on the dresses. I think Ive narrowed it down to two now Im super strapped on time so need to act quick. 47 days to go.... I think #2 would work (with the halter neck). Just imagine yourself made up, hair done, and jewelry on. Have you searched for more supportive undergarments? I don't have any suggesions for any personally, but a co-worker of mine likes the Ardyss bodyshaper (I believe they make a strapless one). I haven't tried it myself though. One other thing... I've found that dresses with more structure in the waist and hips are more slimming for me (similar to #4), maybe that would work for you too. Good luck!

Now from what Ive tried on, I love the sweatheart neckline, strapless is good as long as it is a little high up.... I hate my armpit fat so a sleeves are also good. I think my shape gets lost in an A line, so prefer more of a trumpet. Now when I look at the pictures I feel like a A line is probably what I should wear...so you can be honest Now just to give you some idea of my body shape....here is the two dresses I tried on that I loved...but didnt love so much when I saw the pictures. Ive gained a lot of weight due to health issues so am having really bad body issues these days. Forgive me. So I love the lace. Now Ive narrowed it down to 6 dresses, although I think its a top 3 now. Would love to hear your thoughts! Ill post the dresses in the next post.... I think the halter neckline of dress #2 is very slimming on you... makes you look taller too. I don't care for the sleeves in dress #1 (I've found that I can't wear sleeves like that either). I also like the waist of dress #4 (dresses with that type of waist are slimming for us curvacious women). It's really hard to say what I think of the others without seeing you in them. I liked lots of dresses that I saw online or on the hanger in the store and they just were not flattering at all on me. If you haven't already, I think you should try on the other dresses (or at least something similar) to decide which style of dress looks best on you. I understand your dilemma. I am trying to decide between two dresses myself.

Weddingwire.com has a lot of suggestions for music for various parts of the ceremony and reception. Just go to the homepage and click on the "songs" link at the top of the page. I found some great music suggestions there. They also show you the words to the songs. We are definitely going the non-traditional route, which fits with our non-traditional wedding. This is what we are planning to use so far (may not be your taste in music though): Bridal Party Entrance - Ribbon in the Sky (Stevie Wonder version) Bride Entrance - Endless Love (Mariah Carey & Luther Vandross version) First Dance - Back at One (Brian Mcknight) Recessional - Ain't No Stopping Us Now (McFadden & Whitehead version)**not sure about this one**
  15. I'm not really expecting to get much of anything from my guests. If anything, I will be surprised if we get gifts just because I know that those who do attend will have spent a lot of money just to travel to the wedding. I don't check the registry because I set-up my profile in the registry so that it will send me an email when someone has purchased a gift from the registry. Just be patient... Some of your guests may be waiting until the last minute. Just my two cents.
  16. How sweet. I think it is probably safe to say that no one has an engagement story like yours.
