Congrats and welcome to the forum! As for taking your dress on the plane take it as a carry-on and usually they will hang your dress up for you on the plane, just ask nicely. There have been a few times when they wouldn't do this for brides and I think they had to fold the dress in half and put it in the overhead compartment.

It's cheapest to do what rosieposie is doing, but there are companies out there that do actual photobooths for weddings and events. I met one a couple weekends ago, and I love it, but they can be kind of pricey.
