  1. We are getting ready to order my FI's suit and the pants for our GM, however, I'm unsure what "fit" to get for our GM because we want them to look very casual and not have the tappered leg like a regular suit pant would. One of our GM ordered pants from here a couple of months ago and got classic fit and they were still very dress pant like. Any suggestions on what type of fit we should get for them? I took a picture of the style we are trying to achieve and am going to email it to the company.
  2. Those centerpieces are beautiful, and your WC said only $35 per centerpiece? I can't believe that, I've been quoted ridiculous prices for pretty simple centerpiece ideas....where are you getting married, and if it's not through a resort what florist are you using?
  3. My ceremony is at 4:30 and I asked him to set up for the reception at 6:00 but we aren't starting dinner until 6:30, I think we are going to enter the reception announced with our party and then go straight into our first dance before dinner. We are looking into having a videography company that does live feed so a few of our family members like grandparents that aren't able to travel will be able to be there in the moment with us.
  4. I just emailed Aurora who sent me email to Karina about trying to switch out my photography portion for extra video. Karina just emailed me back saying that it is not in their policy. Which I don't understand how one company Dreams as a whole can be so inconsistent with all of their wedding departments. I'm going to keep fighting this issue because like the rest of you I'm sick of the nickel and diming. I almost switched our location to an off-site location but now a lot of our guests we expected to come won't be making it to our wedding and we may end up with only 20 guests now (originally planning on 50). Â I agree that the extra cost for the cocktail hour are ridiculous when you can just have everyone meet up at a bar and casually get drinks and talk before the reception begins. I have it on my spreadsheet prepared to pay for an extra hour if we absolutely have to just so it's in my budget in case because we hired a DJ and he will be playing until 10:30. Fortunately I'm still budgeting for 50 just in case they all change their minds but doubtful .
  5. Alright I heard back from him and it will be an additional $100 for him for the ceremony so to have him from beginning to end is $650, if we just ended up using him for the reception we would still have to pay for the stereo system for the ceremony at $150 so we could save ourselves $50, definitely worth it to me.
  6. yay! so exciting checking that one off  Congratulations, I'll have to update it on the bride list which is growing and growing now!  I'm May 6th!  That dress looks fabulous on you!    I finally picked a new photographer! I hate that I've had over a year already of planning because I was so sure of everything in the beginning and now I'm changing my mind a lot...oops, the worst part is it's costing me $$....oh well I'm going to try and slow down a bit so I don't try to change anything else. Â
  7. Congrats and welcome to the forum! I'm arriving at DT on your wedding day! My wedding is May 6, our ceremony time was 5:00 but I changed it to 4:30 just so I can have a little extra time for pictures and I want to start our reception a 1/2 hour earlier and we're extending it by 1 hour so we can have more party time!
  8. Congrats Matt and Sol for getting La Luna up and running! They are very talented photographers and a great option for brides!
  9. Â Oh yes I agree his pricing is soo much better than everyone else I've talked to that are $900 or more. I'm waiting back for another quote from him to see what it would be to have him also do the ceremony as well. Â
  10. Â Â We actually ended up flipping a coin and we booked Jillian Mitchell. Â Â haha I agree Kat, although I wouldn't want to spend that much on a wedding anyway, it would just seem like a waste when there are so many other things I could do with that.
  11. I just contacted him and his prices have jumped in just a couple of weeks since you posted contacting him. It's not a huge amount but I was still surprised. I was quoted $675 to have him at Dreams Tulum from 6-10:30 but if I book this month it'll be $550. We're definitely going to go ahead and book with him most likely because one of my stressors is making sure we have someone to announce us and everything and I don't want to bother one of my guests with that task.
  12. I wish DJ DoReMIxx was still at the same pricing as what most brides on here seemed to have paid for him. It's pretty high now and makes messing with the i-pod dock not seem too bad now.
  13. I've had nothing but issues since that day we announced our engagement....the whole "we're engaged" was followed by "do we really have to go to Mexico now".....We wanted it very small then the guest list got out of hand because so many were really interested in going, and now hardly anyone is interested in going. Now all of these people are saying they can't make it. I'm really over it and just don't care anymore. My MOH swears she's still coming (she's pregnant and will have a 4 month old my wedding time, and mind you I traveled to Thailand for her wedding) however, everyone keeps telling me not to count on her being there, so we'll see, she keeps asking about the insurance for the trip "just in case". People can be very frustrating and honestly there are only 2 people that have any excuse as to not being able to afford, my parents because they've been laid off and we've decided to pay for them to be there, everyone else is just CHEAP and not understanding that it's also a vacation for them, I just happen to be getting married during it.
  14. Clinicalgal - sorry to hear about your fall, you looked great though on wedding day!! I have a question about the sound system though....why were you quoted such a high price for that when it's in the packet as being $390 total.
  15. Congrats and welcome to the forum! The best thing about DW's is that there are no rules, you can do whatever you want! Good luck with planning!
  16. haha Yes you are Ange! Â Cindy thanks for the nom!
  17. our wedding is on Friday and we and majority of our guest are arriving on Monday
  18. My ceremony will start at 4:30, originally we were going to start at 5 but my FMIL convinced me to start at 4:30 (old wives tale sake about the hand on the clock) anyway it's actually going to work out even better for us because I want plenty of pic time in between. Our cocktail hour will actually be 5-6:30 and the reception starting at 6:30.
