  1. I am definitely still on the long side too, but I can see how it would be a stressful reminder at the end. Maybe the ticker should morph into a checklist of all the things you have accomplished!
  2. My mom actually had a lot of negativity when I told her what we were thinking for our destination, but with time she came around. I think the jealousy point is a good one - I have had a few people tell me they wish they would have been able to have it. Hopefully your girlfriends will come around ... if not, punish them by making them buy dresses like the ones in 27 Dresses!
  3. I really like that wording. I might steal it for our AHR. I think it's a nice way to remind people you don't want big, bulky stuff. If they have a problem with cash, they can always do a gift card (even though it's basically the same thing, some people prefer it)
  4. I think as soon as you make any big decision you will start thinking about "What ifs" ... I went through the same thing when I ordered my BM dresses. I kept looking through catalogs finding other cute options and stressing, but then I just stopped thinking about it for a few days, went back and looked at the dress I picked and loved it. I think your BM dress is great and perfect for the beach. Now the hard part - stop looking at other dresses! Don't cheat on your BM dresses

Congrats! It's great to see a groom involved in the process!
  6. I was wondering the same thing about customs. I know there are rules about bringing in plants. Does anyone know if these are OK? The Web site does say they will ship to other countries, so I thinking maybe it is allowed. Anyone know for sure?
  7. I think the frame is a great idea too b/c it would look so cool displayed. The opening looks really skinny though - do people use funnels to get the sand in? I would love to see a frame post-wedding ...
  8. Did most of your guests already make their reservations? If you already know who is coming they probably need less time to respond than if you don't.
  9. Congrats and welcome. I don't know what CSA is, but I'm sure it's amazing!
  10. I have to first say that I cannot take full credit for these Save The Date boarding passes. I basically took Carly’s boarding pass template and modified it a little to create mine (all I really did to the template was change the flower to a palm tree). http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t9688 Then I used the holder from Aylee Bits DIY: Boarding Pass Invitation / Save The Date - Aylee Bits I used template 2 because it was much easier and worked better with the cardstock I chose. I fastened the pages of the boarding pass together with a rhinestone brad and a flower (each person got a different color). I turned our monogram into a sticker by using sticker paper (Avery) and a circle punch and stuck it over the ribbon on the boarding pass holder. The most time consuming part was cutting everything, but they did not take as much time as I thought they would to assemble. I spent the better part of my day on them and my fiance was kind enough to help for about two minutes before he got bored. I made about 35 of them. Warning: These took two stamps to mail. I probably would have chosen a lighter cardstock if I had known, but I didn’t find that out until they were all done and I was not about to redo anything. I have received a TON of compliments on them and people thought the cruise ship had given them to us to mail out. My FFIL actually thought it was his real boarding pass for the cruise! Thanks to all the people I borrowed ideas from!
  11. Congrats on the engagement! This forum has loads of helpful information when deciding where to say "I Do" ... and personalizing everything along the way!
  12. Congrats! One of my friends just got back from a honeymoon in Negril and loved it! Ya Mon!!
  13. Congrats and don't worry - I have spent several hours reading all the entries on this site too - it's addicting! There are so many great ideas though - Happy Planning!
  14. I love the pics with the ribbon wands - of course I know the other ones would make great pics too.
  15. I did the same thing and booked a short 3-day weekend cruise. That way you get to spend more time with your family than a typical wedding, but it's not a super long amount of time. Plus the three-day cruises are pretty cheap, so you can still take a honeymoon. Guests only have to take one or two days off work too - I thought this option worked out well for everyone. I am wondering the same thing about dinner - if we can rotate between different tables.
  16. If you didn't have a cake at the wedding - it might be fun to have one at your AHR so your guests could be a part of the traditional cake cutting. Of course, cupcakes would be fun too and you and your husband could always shove some cupcake in each other's faces if you wanted. I think I would look into how much a photographer costs too. Disposable cameras seem like a good idea, but they take horrible pics and they will cost a lot to print too.
  17. I think writing a letter about your feelings is a great, non-confrontational way to deal with this situation. This way they can read the letter and really let the effects of their actions sink in - they are not going to get to see their son marry the woman he loves. Maybe they will come to their senses and realize they are being unreasonable before the wedding.
  18. Congrats! This forum has tons of helpful information. Welcome!
  19. Welcome! The DIY forum is great and there are probably a few projects you could still complete before the wedding.
  20. This is a tough situation, but I agree with the other girls. Just explain you wish you could invite everyone, but can only have immediate family. Make sure they know how much fun the reception at home would be. Then avoid their phone calls!
  21. Those are so adorable! If only I knew how to use a sewing machine ... I would love to give them a try.
