I am thinking about these from David's Bridal. I really had the idea of going barefoot in my mind, but the dresses I tried on dragged on the ground - because they are made for shoes with some height. So I thought these flip flops were a good option.

Hopefully you caught her in a stressful time and her attitude will change with time. I am sure she is stressed about her own wedding plus paying to go to yours. Maybe you can find a really great deal on a BM/MOH dress so she will have one less stress to worry about!

I think the front desk would definitely mail your cards for you - surely they have a way to send outgoing mail from guests. I don't know how you would go about getting the stamps. Do you have a wedding coordinator? They might buy some for you (for a fee of course, but it would be worth the cuteness of getting all the postcards)

It's a beautiful dress but I can see what you mean about looking "cut-off". Is the dress going to be altered at all or is that the length it will be? Are you wearing heels? I do think it looks good on you though!

Make sure you include information about the hotel/resort/location of your wedding, and info about how to book it.

Congrats! I have heard Croatia is beautiful and the beaches are amazing, so it should be a lovely wedding. You could also search for resorts or hotels in Croatia and see if they have wedding packages available.

I was going through these same feelings. We are doing a cruise for 3-days and although it is pretty reasonable, a lot of my friends will have to fly too. I totally went through the guilty feeling over money, but I came to the same realization as karenk77. I am just asking my guests to spend their money differently than they had me spend mine. My fiance and I have been in several weddings, and by the time you add up the costs of the bachelor/bachelorette parties, travel to the wedding, hotels at the wedding, wedding gifts, buying the bridesmaid gift and getting the hair done, etc. it comes out to be the same - your spending is just more spread out this way instead of all at once for a trip. I am trying to eliminate all the other stuff, so all my guests have to spend money on is the wedding. I think it turns out to be a much better deal for them because they also get a cool vacation out of the wedding instead of going to some lame suburb of Philadelphia or something.

I like the idea of a welcome activity - we are doing a cocktail reception as a meet and greet. Aside from that and the rehearsal dinner, wedding, you could definitely give people the option of doing other activities, but you should not feel obligated to pay. (I like the idea of posting the info on your Web site or sending it with your invites) People will probably want time to hang out on their own too and relax!

I like the Rachel McAdams one too. I think that would be a great, gradual change. Your natural color is pretty too though, but change is always fun! How far away is your wedding? Enough time to try it out for a while and then fix it if you decide you don't love it?

Wow -that's a tough one. I agree that if this was a priority, he would have budgeted appropriately and certainly taken an initiative to get a passport. I also think he should be taking some initiative at this point and finding someone to loan him the $$. It will be hard for your fiance to be minus a best man, but I don't think it's worth you creating a financial burden. You are definitely between a rock and a hard place :-/

I think you just have the send out the info and wait to see who can take the time off work and make the trip - there is no good way to predict it. We are waiting for the reply cards to trickle in. If you search for pictures in this forum, you can find lots of different weddings aboard cruise ships. I am getting married on the Carnival Sensation cruise, but I opted to use a wedding planner in the Bahamas instead of the cruise's because of the reviews I read. Apparently, you don't get word of where your actual wedding will be until a week or so before the wedding. I would read the reviews and then make a decision about whether to use TWE (that's the cruise ships' wedding coordinators) or an island one. Best of luck! Happy Planning!

I have heard about this too, and all my friends warned me that after I pick out my dress I am not to look at wedding magazines for dress ideas or watch "Say Yes To The Dress" anymore. I think you should definitely try taking in your jewelry, put on a veil and maybe bring an audience to "ohhh" and "ahhh" before you go try on any other dresses. Post a pic and we will all tell you how beautiful the dress is!
