  1. I'm going the flower too. I think the veil is too formal for the beach. I was thinking a big red flower because my man is Mexican so it would be a little nod to the latin thing
  2. Depending on how immigration papers go (and processing times)....we are HOPING for 11/11/11
  3. I am going to go get it probably on Saturday. It's from Alfred Angelo and it was only $545 with the $100 off
  4. I am looking for the wedding coordinators email at the Cancun Palace. I did a search, but either the posts did have it or it was very old. Anyone have it? Thanks
  5. Well, I finally got the big bill for from our immigration lawyer (my future hubby is a Mexican from/living in Cancun...). It is over $7500 for the immigration proceedings. That is my entire wedding budget and then some All this because he let a visa expire over 6 years ago! AHHHHHHH! So I can forget the 35 person some wedding I was planning, I just can't afford it...plain and simple. We had thought about last December getting married just the two of us, but I chickened out because I didn't want to be there without my loved ones, but it looks like now I don't have a choice. On top of that, we still have to wait for this divorce to finalize. He hasn't even spoken to the woman in over a year, and she is not making this very easy. Divorces in Mexico are a train wreck. *sigh* I just don't why it has to be so complicated sometimes. Sorry, just venting But, in lighter news, I did go dress shopping today and I think I found the dress. Even without my loved one there, FI and I are going to have a beautiful wedding! This has just put a little damper in my spirits.
  6. Because my future hubby is a Cancun local, so it just seemed like second nature... Besides, who DOESN'T want to get married in paradise!
  7. Ah ok, I will double check but I think that's right too. I've never been married so that's not a problem.
  8. Yes and he actually said we can have a DJ! We just couldn't play until 10 pm, but that's not really a problem. We will make it work haha
  9. I read on a few websites that you have to be divorced a year in order to do a legal ceremony in Mexico. Do you know if that's the case? FI has been split for a long time from his current SO but they aren't legally divorced. He is in the process right now but uncontested divorces in Mexico take awhile (which is why he hasn't done it yet), so it might not be a full year before we tie the knot. Anyone know??
  10. Have you looked at the Palace Resorts Jetsettin Bride? I think I'm leaning towards that route because it is very cost effective. Hoping to stay there in May and FI said the food is really good
  11. It's a nice hotel decor wise, very modern. I didn't like that when I went to check in they basically handed me my keys and were like get out of my face. Usually when I check in places the staff will have a bell boy or clerk take me to the room, or at least show me where the elevator was! I had to wait in another line just for someone to show me where to go, and they just handed me my suitcases for my FI to carry upstairs. So I went on like whatever. The food was my main issue. I was on the EP because I booked a room on Priceline and they treated me like I was the odd one out haha. I went to eat lunch once and the only thing they had at ALL the restaurants was the same lame buffet because they were too "understaffed" for the a la carte items and they told me it would be forty bucks! Nothing more than little tiny bottles of water everywhere, and the food was always just meh. FI and I ordered room service one night and it was first 60 minutes late and arrive cold with no flavor. We just got guacamole with chips and two sandwiches and the guacamole was a gross brown color and the chips were stale....and 50 bucks. On top of that, the guy who brought it up to me stated that there was no service included, and when I looked at the bill it already included 18%!! And it was LATE! I wasn't happy. The next day after New Year's Eve the Beach House was open and I went and got a burger that too forever and it was just okay. Breakfast buffet had a lot of choices but everything just tasted really bland to me. Not what I was used to in the other resorts! Maybe I'm nit-picking but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. I always wanted to stay here, and I just expected better service. We just had a basic room which faced the street, and none of the rooms have balconies unless you get the super deluxe type of suites. Beach loungers are always full and they don't have too many of them to get, becaue a lot of them you have to purchase for with bottle service. Dunno, just wasn't for me. I think they are in a "growing pains" stage (to quote one of the other disapointed people from TripAdvisor) from going to AI from EP. I hope that it evens itself out. I don't know if the wedding planner has it more together, but the vibe from the hotel I just don't think I could put such a special day in their hands.
  12. I am not getting married there, but I just stayed there over New Year's Eve and I was not a huge fan of this resort. They have some definite kinks to work out due to them going from European Plan to All Inclusive. Glad I had a chance to check it out before I planned a wedding there!
  13. I really did not want to have the reception and ceremony all at the resort, so I inquired with this place for their reception information. We would probably do the "Mexican Buffet" with open bar with beer and margaritas. They told me they can't do a DJ unless we have 80 people, but hopefully they may allow us to put music on or something? We probably will have a marachi band to play too. 14. I know I don't post much here but I have been a member since July 2009 and I am also a supporter but I made a post and a message popped up saying my post was under review because I was new?? When does that stop
  15. Sounds exactly like my situation tiffany! Only it's my dad pushing the issue
  16. We are FINALLY getting married in 2012! Still not definitive date but it will be Spring, most likely March or early April around Spring Break time. My fiance and I have had a hard road to bare due to immigration together, but we have decided visa or no visa...we love each other and we are not waiting anymore! I think after a lot of searching, I really want to have it at the Casa Magna/JW Marriott. The place is beautiful and the prices are actually quite reasonable with their packages. If anyone has recently (as in the last year or so...) gotten married there, do you have any tips or pictures to share? I would love to know! Still very new to this whole process and although I have spent a LOT of time in Cancun (my fiance is a local there), I don't know about planning a wedding there! I am also going to be a bridesmaid for my friend on October 22nd this year and she's looking for ideas on dresses!
  17. I will be doing a prenup. I love my fiance and all, but my dad has a very large asset at stake and he just doesn't feel comfortable me marrying ANYONE (even if they are super rich) without it...you just never know. If you find out details that would be appreciated! I'm not that far yet being as my wedding is going to be in 2012
  18. After lots of consideration on our part, my fiance and I have decided to say the heck with the big wedding, and decided to just have a simple wedding just the two of us this New Years Eve! I don't even know if such a thing is possible in such a short amount of time or even if they offer weddings for just two people...but I figured this would be the place to ask! Â Anyone done such a thing?? Thanks. I preferably want a place in Cancun city not Riviera Maya.
  19. Thanks for the reply Matt. I'm starting to get the idea that this is a rare thing...course the Mister would pick something complicated :| lol Maybe I can do some persuading as to just do a TTD in the cenote and do the wedding at Xcaret (his second choice)....all my friends tell me "It's your day! Do what you want!" but it is his day too after all!
  20. Was having our first official "how do we want to marry" convo with the future husband, and he pretty much stated that he thinks the whole idea of getting married on the beach to be a bit cliched (). I can't blame him though since he is from the area! However, he said he has always wanted to get married in the cenotes! You know, the underwater caves? At first I was pretty taken aback, but after seeing some of the pictures online it seems like a cool idea!! I saw Del Sol did a wedding there with some great photos, but I have found NOTHING online as to how to make this happen, or even where to have reception..blah, blah.... So anyone have any news or ideas? Even if you had your TTD session maybe you could provide some input...thanks!!
  21. How long, in total from start to finish, did it take to plan your DW? Matter or months or more than a year? I would guess it matters on what resort you choose, but I was just curious!
  22. Not sure where the bride is, but there is a member who is getting married there in November and she gave me the wedding coordinators email and she gave me some GREAT info!! [email protected] She sent me pictures, food menu and prices, layout types everything. I can definitely say this is probably going to be our place. I was originally dead set on the Hilton but this place looks awesome!! I was there for spa treatment 3 weeks ago and the hotel is gorgeous. Very modern and contemporary, which is perfect for us. They also have an "after hours" thing available with a DJ and lounge type furniture out by the beach for like 850. Can someone tell me how to post pics? I can post some that she sent me
