Were they on clearance
  2. I bought some great beach bags from WalMart on clearance. The bags were only $3 each and they came in various colors with hawaiian flowers on them and stripes. They are awesome for the OOT bags and I could not be happier with them. I will most likely have extras that I will be selling soon. You can check walmart to see what they have on clearance, they always have some really cheap bags.

  4. One other thought I had.... you could do a few signature drinks (which ever are your fav) and put them in larger drink dispensers. You can usually rent these pretty cheap and then people could serve themselves. It would give you another option and be pretty cheap. My AHR is pretty casual so I know my guests wouldn't mind serving themselves, but it depends on your preference.
  5. I am having my AHR reception at a house as well and we are hiring a bartender for the night. (if this is an option you can ask around to see if anyone knows someone who wants to make a few bucks for the night). We are going to do our favorite drinks (mine is vodka and lemonade) and then have some other options. There is NO way we would be able to offer every drink so we are just going to have the basics (vodka, rum, tequila) and various juices/soda available to mix with them. We are also having beer, but I have not decided between bottles or a keg.
  6. For those of you who have ordered and received your sashes... what is the turquoise color like in person? I am looking for a bluer turquoise and not so aqua like... does that make sense?
  7. Does anyone know which material is best for the beach in the event it is really windy?
  8. I was also thinking about ordering the flip flop luggage tags as favors at the bridal shower. This way those who are coming to the wedding have them before hand!
  9. I am having a difficult time finding these as well. I looked at Michaels craft store last night and they had some for $2 each but they are black with initials on them.... I am looking for solid bright colors. I keep going back and forth on having them.... will the guests use them?
  10. I love love love love the meet the guest pages... what an awesome idea... I will definitely be adding this to mine!!! Thanks!
  11. I also bought my fold from cardsandpockets.com.... they have sales pretty frequently so if you can wait a bit I am sure they will have another one soon which is usually 25% off, making the pockets only 0.75!!! My invitations are taking forever WITHOUT having to make the pocketfold, so I would warn you about this. If you do not have many invitations to make then I think you will be fine, but if you have more than 50 I would consider buying them to keep your sanity!!!
  12. These are great! I have been stressing over the welcome books and this has inspired me! Thank you for posting this!
  13. Due to recent bans, I needed clarification about the "emailing" policies on here. I will not be emailing anymore information, I would be lost without this forum and I cannot risk being banned! I will try to post as much as I can that I received from Ana, however I do have quite a bit so it might take some time! HAPPY PLANNING everyone!!!!!!!!!!
  14. One more thing.... AVIS car rental is located in the resort lobby.... I let my guests know this for their convenience..... my package includes transfers but it is cheaper to rent a car for the day if they do it in groups instead of paying for buses, taxis, ect.
  15. In case anyone else is as paranoid as I am..... the resort has a water purification system... not that I will be drinking their water, I will only drink the bottled water, but I was concerned about the ice cubes! I know it is ridiculous to worry about something like ice cubes..... I am kinda crazy!!! ha ha!!!

I know how hard it is in the beginning and I would be glad to get you started! Happy planning and welcome!!!
  18. I should clarify one thing.... the $20 extra per person I mentioned in my previous post is only for 2 more people. If I have more than 20 (which would be 40 total) then I need to pay the $46+tax+gratuity for any over 40 people. I just wanted you guys to know so that when you ask Ana for it you aren't confused if the prices are different. This also means that if you have less than 40 people you could potentially pay even less than $20 a person...... I really hope that makes sense!

Thanks for sharing and doing the leg work for us! I will definitely send you the contract once I get it.... she has been really slow at updating it and sending it to me.
  20. Welcome! Join us in the Dreams Riviera Cancun forum! There are plenty of pages of very useful information and pictures/documents we have all received from one another! I am also getting married at Dreams Riviera Cancun!!!! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-thread-47576/
  21. So I spoke a bit too soon with my last post. Ana just emailed me back and I did get some good news about cost. The first good news is that the arch with white tulle is complimentary I am very happy about this because that is a couple hundred dollars saved and I like very simple, clean decorations. I am doing the Dreams of Love package and it comes with the 20 person reception and 20 person cocktail hour. My fiance and I have decided not to have a cocktail hour because it seems silly with so many bars available to them for free. For that hour we will be taking our pictures and my bridal party has agreed to "gather" everyone else at the beach bar where they all can drink and hang out for the hour. We are having 40 people and most of them are family so I know they all will be okay with hanging out at the beach bar for that hour. I just figured that the resort includes these bars so we might as well take advantage of it. So the good news is... instead of the cocktail hour I only have to pay $20 per extra guest at the reception (tax and gratuity included in the $20!). This has brought down the price significantly! Just thought I would share with the rest of you if you maybe wanted to try to cut costs. I would rather spend the extra money on group excursions than a private hour of cocktails.
  22. Just need to vent for a minute...... Are any of you getting overwhelmed by all of the extra fees? It seems everytime I email Ana she sends back with some other additional cost. At first she told me that the beach set up included the arch (not the decorations though). Now she wrote me saying that the arch would be extra. I understand that they need to charge extra for the things they need to purchase from vendors... but honestly, they already have the chairs and arch. It just seems a little ridiculous. I feel that the resort does not accommodate to the weddings, after all, without the weddings the resorts would not have as many guests! Having my wedding at their resort is bringing in 20 extra rooms that would not have otherwise been booked! On top of that it is an all-inclusive resort where your guests are already paying extra for their food and drinks.... and then we still have to pay an additional $100 a person for a reception dinner. I am getting so frustrated by all of this because what I thought would be a $10,000 wedding has continued to grow everyday! I guess this is what I must deal with to have the destination wedding that I want..... thanks for listening to me vent.... sometimes I feel like this forum is the only place where people understand me!

Most of the people are our age except for maybe about 10 family members. I don't think that a DJ would seem awkward. Do you think your guests would want to dance? If so, I am starting to think a DJ is the way to go. When i started to try to compile a playlist of songs, I got really overwhelmed. So, I am not sure on who the resort uses for a DJ. I had seen on here on a thread about DJ's that some girls from Dreams Cancun had the choice of DJ Mannia or DJ Doremixx. I would think that if both of these were options at Dreams Cancun, they would be at DRC too?? Since Ana is sometimes difficult to get responses from, I decided just to email the DJ's to see what they offer. DJ Mannia told me I had to go through Ana. DJ Doremixx gave me a price quote, then told me I had to go through the wedding coordinator. So, I am confused as to how this works. I just emailed Ana asking her if I could use DJ Doremixx. I will let you know what she says about all this. The brides bouquet is larger than the bridesmaids. Some of the bridesmaid pictures that I saw were actually very small bouquets (3 calla lilies). I am having a hot pink calla lily bouquet and Ana told me there would be an additional charge for it (surprise, surprise.... an additional charge!). She also said that my bridesmaid bouquets would be $100 each for hot pink calla lilies.
