Jesmcan's review made it sound like just what we were looking for smaller and private. I, also, liked that it didn't have as much greenery around it as the Royal. If you're having a big wedding, I don't think the GPR gazebo will be the best for you. 3. I'm kinda weird and not super enthused about everyone watching me as I walk to the aisle, and the GPR gazebo has a way shorter walking distance than the Royal gazebo from what I can tell from the pics. Look at the bottom right of both of the links below and you can see the gazebo at both & which one you like better Virtual Tours of Gran Porto Real, Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen | Real Resorts The Royal Playa del Carmen Virtual Tour, Virtual Tour of The Royal Playa del Carmen|Mexico View of GPR gazebo from hallway.

Also, I cut off my bracelet for the wedding and so did my bridesmaids we all were able to get new ones - it was not an issue. But they are SUPER strict about making sure you have your bracelet on at all times. But it kinda sucks when you go off property like down 5th Ave. All the shop vendors know what bracelet goes with what resort so they try to get you in their shop but saying things like "Hey Gran Porto - come in here" its kinda annoying. oh well! :-) Thanks for that! Good to know on the webcam! I thought about doing that at the beginning of planning, but when I head the $300, we said no way! I read somewhere that the bracelets were clear so I thought that was pretty neat and, also, that people wore them on their ankles. Not sure if either of those are true I think I read it on playa.info or something... Im nervous about people finding out during the ceremony we are already married. Does anyone know how real it appears doing just symbolic? I would appreciate any advice on this.... We just decided to get one of FI's friends (who isn't coming to the wedding) ordained in our state (TX) and have him marry us. That way we don't have to do any of the "formal" marriage stuff before our symbolic wedding (no kiss, no ring exchange and no vows). We haven't confirmed everything 100%, but I've researched quite a bit and it seems really easy and cheap. We're not telling anyone if we can help it, either. That's a good idea Jen, saying we signed the certificate the day before...that's what I'm going with too!! One other question, has anyone found out when you do the wedding at home, is there a way not to do the vows and ring exchange? I literally want to go to city hall sign paperwork and say OK now we're married, but I'm not sure if that is legal...I guess I could call city hall and find out. Oh no! Your wedding and reception is very real and not fake at all no matter where you have it! Don't let anyone, even mom, make you feel otherwise

I would just keep emailing until you get the contract. I get the vibe from others' experience that phone calls there don't get you too far. Good luck!

I feel strange making the deposit without first getting back their signed copy. How did you do it? Thanks! Diana That's awesome! Everytime I get on here, it seems more and more brides are using him! I cant seem to get one nailed down and its getting a little ridiculous just for the Michigan office to follow up on their promises. First i was told that the oct. date that i wanted was totally open according to their sheet, so i was sent all the paperwork incl. booking sheet, credit authorization etc..I filled it out and sent it right back and was told the date will be confirmed with the resort by the next day. Waited and waited to no avail. I called the office and was told sorry they overlooked a wedding of 500 people on that same weekend that somehow was deleted off their sheet. Okay so looked at another date in November and was told i needed to await confirmation again from the resort. The weekend came and went and finally after hearing nothing by late Monday, I called and they acted like they had no idea who I was or what I was calling about. I had to re-explain and at that point I said after the lack of response I have received both times now, I am getting ready to go elsewhere. Well, after they apoligized she promised to email me the date and times and locations of my request and that I should hear for sure by today!!! Still havent heard a thing..... Is this standard for them b/c im sorry this is rambling on but I am not trying to plan my wedding overnight , I just want to nail down a date with times of ceremony and venue choices. Any and all input will be appreciated. Oh man, I'm sorry that has been happening to you I would definitely not be happy, either. Have they assigned you a WC, yet? If you look back over the last 20 or so pgs of the thread, you'll see that their best WC (Kimberly R) up and quit a couple weeks ago and left them (and us!) high and dry. So that might be why its taking them so long to get back to you (on top of their slow communication in general). I would suggest emailing rather than phone calls. I haven't called the WC office once and haven't had any problems w/them not knowing who I was at any point. Plus you'll have everything in writing that way and you won't have to remind them who you are everytime you speak to someone new. They aren't the fastest w/communication, even via email, but I have found (and many other ladies on here) that if you send the same email to them once a day (being polite but stern) they'll get back to you. Hope that helps!

He seems like a super sweet guy, very responsive, very good pricing and his pics are beautiful so I would definitely recommend him from what I've experienced up to this point Good luck!
