  4. Thanks Natalie79! Dianep I would say to call or email until you get a checklist especially since you wedding is less than 3 months away! I got mine when I put my deposit down. The WC at the US company sent it to me. Who is it you're trying to contact? My WC is Angie. I don't think Kimberly is there any more.
  5. Question for the brides that have gone through the process... 1) How do you pay for the balance of your wedding package? Is it paid for 45days before you get there via credit card or do you pay it once you get down there and that way they have a more accurate total? I heard something about credit card companies charging fees for international charges so wasn't sure what was the best way to take care of it. 2) Did any of you ladies use cell phones while down there to keep in contact with your guests? How bad was the charges on your bills when you got back Appreciate any info you can give!
  6. I'm not sure if this is offered in other states but Texas offers a free 8 hour pre-marriage class and you get a certificate that is good for $60 off the price of the marriage license and also you don't have to wait the 72 hours to get your marriage license. I know it's not much but I'm in $ saving mode! Candicemarie I see you're in DFW so you may check into it. We're going to the one in March at Brookhaven College Classes
  7. Hello all you DIY brides! I need some help. I thought I saw somewhere on the forum a bride talking about a 'Couples Itinerary' or a schedule for her guests so they would know where the couple was on their destination wedding for that whole weekend. For instance, if they go to the beach at a certain time or which bar/restaurant to find them at over the weekend while everyone is at the resort. I figured it'd be helpful for the guests (and for the newly married couple) so everyone isn't trying to chase all over the resort to track us down. I did a search and came up with nothing. Maybe I'm going crazy and/or I just dreamt this up. Anyone else ever heard of this?
  8. Is anyone else doing a program or pamphlet that has the "couples itinerary" or "where to find the couple" for your guests to know about where you'll be hanging out and when, in case they want to catch up with you throughout the trip? It seems I saw this somewhere on the forum, but I did a search every way I thought possible and couldn't find the bride who did it and had pics. I'm looking for a template maybe or pics to get ideas (i even seached in the DIY forum) so this is my last ditch effort.
  9. My wedding is in October and the wedding coordinator told me they do 3 (maybe 4) and schedule them every 2 hours.
  10. We are getting married 10-09-10 in Playa del Carmen Ahh this time next year some of us will be married! It'll be here before we know it! Exciting stuff!! I've sent the Save the Dates and will probably send the invites in the spring.
  11. We're having our reception on the beach but having a dance floor set up that the DJ is providing. If you're having a DJ you may ask if they have something like that available. Or see if there is an outside company you could rent one from. I figured the beach would be a cool experience for everyone. What other time could your friends and family say they all danced at a beach party together. (I'm in central TX so that doesn't happen often for us lol)
  12. Proves a little hard work will really pay off, those look great! Love the personalization!
  13. I'm doing one per couple but for sure putting 2 mugs in each. Maybe 2 of other things too depending on what all I'll decide to include.
  14. Hey Jesmcan thanks so much for the answers to my questions! I'm so excited for you to be going on your site visit so soon! I can't think of any more questions right now but if you are going to be on 5th Ave around the resort and see a florist let me know. I'm going to try and get my bridesmaid's bouquets on 5th and have my mom wrap them for us instead of spending $60 per bouquet or whatever it was the resort is charging. I saw on a website somewhere that they do have one on the Ave but of course I don't know if it's a nice florist or a hole in the wall. lol Have a blast and I can't wait to hear how it went when you get back
  15. Hi everyone! I tried to do a search but couldn't really find the answers to these 2 questions. Does anyone know if 1) We are allowed a rehearsal the night before at our ceremony location? Is the WC there and does it cost any extra? 2) Do they automatically allow the ballroom to be available in case of rain? Or do I need to call and get them to reserve that some how? ~Thanks!
  16. Also check out Alltournative - Off Track Adventures I went last year and it was a blast! There's such a variety of things you do and it's such a unique tour that you feel like you're the only ones who get to experience it. It's done in smaller groups so you really get to enjoy all the things they offer. Here's a list of what you do on the tour. Walk through their forest, learning of the local fauna and flora Enjoy a zip-line, flying over an incredibly beautiful Cenote Rappel down into another Cenote Canoe/kayak on a wonderful lagoon Enjoy a refreshing swim (in a fresh water sink hole blessed by shamen) Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the local Maya women
  17. Have you looked into The Royal in Cancun? When I saw you wanted a Catholic Wedding it immediately came to mind. The location is in the “Our Lady of Guadalupe”, Catholic Oceanfront Chapel (surrounded by light and glass with marble floors). Go to the link below and checkout the picture, it's at the end of the 2nd row of pics. Absolutely breathtaking view. Photo Galleries

Not sure what that could be but if you think of anything let me know. How many guest are you having? What are your colors?
  19. Newbie here! Thanks for all the info ladies. We made a decision today that The Royal PDC is the place for our wedding! I feel so much more confident since I've read through the posts on this thread. I'm not done yet... on page 44 of 147 I think, but I'm taking notes along the way! So many good tips and advice from everyone so THANKS!!
