Hmm... I haven't decided yet either, but I think I'd rather do it at the resort, especially since it'll have a welcome to Cuba letter in it!! I'd like to see if we can hand deliver them room to room, or maybe hand them out at our welcome cocktail. We'll see. I haven't quite thought that far ahead yet! I do think it'll be nicer to hand them out as a surprise at the resort, though... if we gave them out inadvance, I would be worried that people wouldn't take them with or something, and part of the reason I'm doing them is to give them a little something for deciding to actually attend!

Ugh! It seems like such a hassle to try and plan a Catholic wedding! As kalikid4life said, ask your resort about specifics for Catholic weddings - and you may have to look into off-resort options if you are getting married in a church.

Congrats! I'd see about checking what the main religions are in Jamaica - if its Christianity, you might be in luck - I'm sure you'll be able to find something. Do a search on here for church weddings or something, and you should find some results.

I never really understand why people make up excuses and get all upset about destination weddings. Ok, if you have a VALID financial excuse not to go, then thats ok, but when you are spending frivolously and obviously are just being ridiculous about it then the "I can't afford it" excuse is bogus. Besides, who WOULDN'T want a vacation in Mexico?? Its just so frustrating, because its not like they arn't getting anything out of it. Everyone gets a vacation - and in a gorgeous location to boot. Its mind-boggling.

Well, a Cuban trio is included in our wedding package for the ceremony... and I oddly never considered that as "something cuban" lol! I probably will get cigars for some people - but almost noone I know smokes, so getting them for everyone wouldn't really be cost-effective. Is there anything else anyone is doing?? Its kind of a neat topic...

Its definately different - I think "bad" would depend on how it winds up looking, and whether you like it or not. I personally think that paper pags would look odd and take up a lot of space on the tables - and that it creates a lot of additional waste. Most people probably aren't going to keep the paper bag or tissure paper. An alternative suggestion is maybe rolling the pashminas, and putting a thin paper strip (about 1-2 inches wide) around them with the persons name and table number - that also cuts down on how much extra stuff you have to bring with you - no paper bags or tissue paper!! And depending on what you get for the guys - you may be able to do something similar with tags or something.

As I said before - I would have emailed it to myself, but my extremely slow computer which the document is on crashed and I didn't want to wait for it. Its not a dumb system, I think it makes a lot of sense to only let those who contribute use the resources. So again, thank you both for clarifying - I'll be fine without it, and I'll just have to wait until I get home to get the darn file off my own computer. I just assumed (incorrectly) that files that I post I would be able to download and open, particularly since it seems like the forum keeps track of who posts which files. (in user CP) Since the forum doesn't, it makes some sense that the post number then comes into effect. I'm wondering if maybe the files I was able to open were ones from before the change occured. Maybe that explains how I was able to open a lot of them. And people get frustrated with having to post 150 times because the vast majority of those first 150 posts are going to be meaningless comments. I don't know about other people, but I know that if I am going to comment on something, I want it to be actually contributing to the conversation - not just a random comment made to up my post numbers. I also only want to post if my topic a) hasn't been already covered, which normally it has, so I don't have to post, I only have to creep what other people have already discussed. This keeps the number of duplicate posts down, but does limit the number of posts I can make. or I only want to post if I have a question about something taht either hasn't been covered, or if I want further clarification. And finally c) I will post only if I feel I am giving a valid point or support to another persons question or post. Jeepers. I wasn't complaining about how the forum was run, I just wanted to know why I couldn't open an attachement I had posted. P.S. I'm having a bad day. Sorry if I am being mean/rude or something. Ok, Its just weird because in the user CP menu, under "Miscellaneous" there is a section titled attachements. But its ok. I'll be fine. Thanks for clarifying.
