My Dress

You look great and the dress is gorgeous. Snapshots NEVER do the dress justice, I think that's why so many brides worry...we spend time looking at the picture instead of trusting our memory!! -

After I bought the dress I went online and also has a hard time finding it because it's an older stye. It's from the Vineyard Collection, Fall 2008 and the dress name is Holly. It looks different on the model (don't they always!) but I finally found it here: Vineyard Collection Wedding Dresses - Wedding Dresses from Fall 2008 | Brides.com -
LOVE the idea of using capiz shells! We thought about using orchid garland to hang on the back of the chuppah and got a quote from a real touch florist...and the quote was over $500 for 15 strands!!! I could never justify that and I think the capiz might even be prettier! I wonder if you could remove the strands from the wooden bar and have the resort hang them individually. It might be easier to transport that way but I'm not sure if it's practical.

Thanks ladies! Your compliments and suggestions made my day! I wish I had a picture of the back b/c it comes down into a really pretty V. My chest broke out into a rash when I put this dress on (which is a super annoying trait of mine as this happens when I get really excited or angry) so I figured it must be the one. :-) The sash helps to give me a more defined waist and create a few curves...I'll have to play around with it to see if it looks better simple or with a little embellishment. -

So I finally think I've mastered the whole picture posting thing :-) Like I mentioned, I bought my dress at the Priscilla of Boston sample sale this week. It was one of those experiences where we just 'stopped by', completely unprepared and what do you know...walked out with a dress! I'm adding a sash a the waist (maybe with a flower...what do you guys think?). The skirt portion of the dress is what won me over. It has tulle inserts and a large portion of the train is tulle. LOVE! -

I found my dress this week at the Priscilla of Boston sample sale. I'm so excited to post about it!!! It was a great deal. LOL...I'm figuring out how to post using photobucket and I'll put up a picture. I feel a little tech-challenged!! -
The sample sale is awesome!! I went yesterday and they had three entire racks of gorgeous dresses in a variety of styles. I really didn't think I would walk out with a dress but I did, I love it and I got a ridiculous deal!!! If you are a bridal size 8 or smaller I would def recommend that you check it out...a great opportunity to get a high quality dress for a low price.

It fits amazing and is going to go perfectly with how I envision everything else for our wedding. The only thing is that I am going to have it made into a deep sweetheart neckline after I get it in. I go get measured on Thursday, I'm soooo excited!!! I will post real pictures when I take some this week! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this dresss! It's been at the top of my list for months. I actually drove out to the suburbs to visit the one shop in my area who said they had it in-stock. Unfortunately they didn't mention that the sample was a 16 and I'm a street sz 2. I couldn't really tell what it looked like on me so I'm still dying to try it on again!!! You have great taste

When you are finished, I would love to know so that I can read it! Does anyone out there have the options pricelist? I have been in contact with HTR but it seems the only thing they sent me was the quote on the civil and religious ceremony as well as letting me know about the 20$ per person.. Is there anything that is actually included with the ceremonies? or is cake, flowers, etc charged seperately? Anyone out there that has been married here, or is in the process.. If you could help me out with some info.. I may still have some of my hair left! LoL Hi... I don't have too much more information than you do but Luis has told me that the cake is included in the $20 per person that they charge for reception/cocktail hour. Flowers and decoration are extra but I don't know the exact prices yet. FI and I are going on a site visit this May where Luis said we could see a wedding set up and then meet with him to go through everything. We're already booked a DJ and are bringing a photographer from home...it's great that HTR doesn't have an outside vendor fee! I'm also thinking of doing real touch flowers for our bouquets/bouts but will need to get centerpieces and other flowers/decor from the resort. Let me know if you have any specific questions for Luis. I'd be more than happy to ask during our site visit! -

I don't know if I got lucky or what, but my experience with her has been flawless and un-complicated! I sent my deposit in and she's working on mine now. I'm so excited to see pics when she finishes them! I did NOT have to drive to her house (she is not in my area) for any consultation, so you may want to read the small print on that. I didn't even come across that in my reading. Good luck! Thanks ladies! It's great to hear so many good things about Shavon. I'm really hoping that I can get her to do my flowers as well. I actually just sent her an email because I am going to be visiting friends in her area next week and would love to meet with her and see a few samples of her work. I'll let you know if it works out!! -
You've picked such a gorgeous destination!! I doubt that flights will be too much more on President's weekend but your TA should let you know for sure. Def encourage your guests to book early!!
-
Definitely check out flights from your city to the destination. I found that flying into Cancun was so inexpensive from the east coast that it justified a slightly pricier resort for my guests. Even though all-inclusive resorts cost more up front, it definitely saves in the end.
-
I think that carrying them on the plane is probably your best bet. If the airline and flight attendants know that you are traveling for a wedding, they may help to secure your valuables, ie dress and champagne flutes!

This is SUCH a tough decision. If you use a TA, they can point you in the right direction. I'm using one from this forum and she's been great!! The Dreams resorts seem to put on great weddings. I also think that you might want to check out Azul Sensatori since you said that you really like the modern look/feel. The Paradisus Riviera Cancun is also gorgeous and has a gorgeous site for weddings.

Fernando at MakeupPros Cancun for makeup review

Thanks for the great recommendation and for Fernando's email address! I have been trying to use the 'contact us' link on his website and it wasn't working. I'm going to Playa for a site visit this May but won't be getting married until May 2011. I'd love to do a trial while I'm down there if possible...do you remember how much the trial cost? -
