  1. So cute NaM! I love this idea and totally want the Fuji Camera now! I love that it looks a little bit retro and I think that it would be fun to be able to hang the pics up with clothespins to display at the reception.

The wedding "package" is not really a package since basically it only covers the paperwork for the wedding.. Cakes, flowers, etc are all separate. However, you do send pictures of what you are looking for, and the wedding coordinator seeks out the vendors. If you are not happy, they will find you another one.. I am having issues right now wiring the money.. I have been to the bank twice with many emails and still can not send the transfer!! I am getting really frustrated as the contract for the wire transfer and the other info I got in an email do not match. It made me worry when the bank told me it sounded sketchy. I wish they would just take credit card! I am now considering just getting married here first, then going to have a vow renewal in Mexico.. If all this hassle is just for a deposit I am worried it will be the same when I try to legalize the wedding in Canada.. Anyone else have issues with this? Sorry for my ranting! Just very stressed out about all this! Wings, You must be so excited (in addition to the stress)! Did you end up signing your contact? I wouldn't worry but instead be very glad that the contract didn't seem to have a lot of errors!! Now you can move on to the fun stuff :-) I'm hoping that my contract will go as smoothly. Did you basically just have to pay the $20pp for the reception set up/meal and then extra for decorations, etc? I still don't seem to have these details clear in my head. We're also planning to be legally married here first. It just seems to simplify things and FI isn't a big fan of having blood drawn in Mexico. Plus, this way we can have someone close to us officiate the ceremony and not worry about the legalities of it.
  3. Matt, Thanks so much for posting the pictures, they make me even more excited to go on my site visit and to meet Fernando while I'm there! Do you have any thoughts on the resort or have any recommendations re: locations that make for great venues (ceremony, cocktail, reception)? It's always great to hear from someone who has been around the property and seen a wedding in action!!
  4. Wow, thanks for the tip! I had no idea that the Dollar Tree had so much great wedding stuff. I'll definitely check this out.
  5. What a terrific find! I'm on the same bridal-wedge mission...I'm getting married on the beach and although I'm already pretty tall, I just feel more dressed up in a fancier shoe! I'll def check these out.
  6. You probably COULD charge $20 per invite....they're incredible. I particularly love the vintage map of the Yucatan. Where did you find it? I'm planning for a bit of a vintage flair for my wedding and it's perfect!
  7. Tracy--Your dress is SO beautiful and romantic! I know what you mean about the lace b/c I did the same thing. I never thought that I wanted it but when I put my dress on it really made me feel like a bride. If you love the veil, maybe you could get one that's floor length...super dramatic but wouldn't drag in the sand if you're getting married on the beach. I just love veil-in-the-wind photos!

  9. Jo--Your dress really is just stunning and it looks just fabulous on you! The detail shots really show the great quality of the dress and materials. I can't imagine how thrilled you must be. CONGRATS!!
  10. Check out Priscilla of Boston. I wore an adorable dress from there as the MOH in my friend's wedding and have worn it several times since. I also ended up buying my wedding gown from there and discovered that quite a few of their dresses are under $200.
  11. Hi Ana, I'm a surprised that they want wire transfers from us! Did Luis tell you why they can't take a cc...I mean they do it to book rooms! Anyway, I used Western Union to send my deposit to DJ Doremixx and it was pretty painless. I don't remember the exact cost but I'm sure that it was less than $45.
  12. I think that what you are describing sounds beautiful. Honestly, I feel like when in doubt, keep it MORE simple. It will be very elegant!

It also is more of a darker more true fuschia color whereas the regular organza fuschia color seems a little more like hot pink when I have them laid next to eachother. I will try to post a picture of the two when I get home. I'd love to see the comparison pic, thanks! Which type are you deciding to go with...do you think that the price difference is worth it?
  14. I have the pic with the fuschia sashes saved in my "Wedding Ideas" folder as well. I just love that look!! It's the perfect way to dress up a simple folding chair!
  15. I think that you can def do both at the same time. What I'm planning to do though is to wear a fingertip veil for the ceremony and then for the reception, take off the veil and place a few flowers in my hair. I just like the idea of switching up my look a little bit for different parts of the evening.
  16. This is something that I was interested in as well. The resorts that I can think of that do only 1 per day are Paradisus Riviera, Hacienda Tres Rios and Azul Beach. There are probably more and I *think* that the Excellence resorts only do 2 per day. Hopefully that will help get you started...
  17. OK...here's the price list from Fernando. This is accurate as of appox 3 weeks ago: BRIDE TRIAL HAIR AND MAKEUP $180 DAY OF THE EVENT $330 BRIDESMAIDS,MOMS,FRIENDS ONLY MAKEUP $90 ONLY HAIR $50 up to $80

Ana Hi Ana: I'll let Ash chime in and be the voice of experience but I thought I'd let you know that I just contacted Fernando Fuentes from the Makeup Pros who I'm pretty sure is who Ash used for her wedding as well. Every pic that I've seen of his work on BDW has been amazing and he's been really great in communication so far. He is even coming to the resort so we can meet in person while I'm there on my site visit. He's not super cheap but I figure that having good hair and make-up is one of the most important things. I'll look through my email to see if I can find the pricing list he sent me.

  20. Hi keaddy. Check out the Royal, PDC thread...it is full of a lot of answers to your questions. Unfortunately, you can no longer book directly through the DJ (DJ Doremixx). At the endo of 2009, the Royal changed it's rules so that is no longer an option. I do think that you would have to pay a vendor fee to bring an outside florist in but if you have a friend or family member that you want to conduct your ceremony, that shouldn't be a problem. Def check out the Royal thread for more info...
  21. It looks so gorgeous on you...VERY flattering. Congrats!!!

Either way, I'd like to wear heels to my reception. I can always get a pair of 2" heels and it won't make much difference to the length of my dress, right? I'm in the same boat. I say, go for the heels you love for the reception and then you can always find a pair of wedge or platform flip flops for the ceremony if the length of your dress is an issue. You can also wear your pretty heels for pictures!
  23. Everyone looks so great in their dresses!!! Here's mine on the model... And on me... I'm adding a sash to the waist...just not the one in the picture

Also you don't have to worry about another company just dropping off and picking up the equipment. This guy stays the whole time to make sure nothing goes wrong, also. Same goes for flowers, when you do a site visit, Luis will have the florist/decor person come. Just bring pictures of what you want. Pricing was very competitive. One of the advantages of using the contacts that Luis has is that you do all of your meetings in less than 2 hours, wire transfer one chunk of money and Luis handles everything else. When you are trying to enjoy your wedding day and event it is nice not to worry about anything else. As always, thanks for the great advice Ash. Our site visit is a year before our wedding so I've been thinking of it mostly in terms of booking the resort and checking out the venues for ceremony, cocktail, reception. Sounds like I need to get some decor pics together as well! One more question for you Ash...did you have any trouble with the timeshare push at HTR? I've been reading a lot of concerns about this on TripAdvisor recently. I try to avoid TA but sometimes I can't help myself.
  25. wow they look GREAT! Who knew David's Bridal had such nice invitations? I'll have to check them out.
