  1. We did taste the food and it was great. I'll take a look at my paperwork when I get home and let you know exactly what we tasted. If you want to modify some of the dishes, Oscar said that it wouldn't be a problem. He also offered to help us come up with a vegetarian dish since we have quite a few of those in our group. Â Since all of our guests will be staying under the all-inclusive package, the cost for the three course dinner and open bar is $20pp. The private event lasts five hours--one for the cocktail hour and four hours for the reception. Also, you can select from any part of the menu...I believe there is a Hacienda Menu and the Gala menus (or something like that). Allibe let us select from any of those choices for our dinner. You can also select from this list for a Welcome Party...or if you are having at least 50ppl, a BBQ is an option as well.
  2. It sounds like we're having similar vendors. I'm also using Doremixx and Fernando Fuentes. Let me know who you find or is recommeded to you for the mariachi--we really want this for our cocktail hour! Is Planner 1 doing all of your flowers too? I got quotes from Vanessa Jaimes and from Eupohoria for flowers. I sent my flower 'inspiration' photos to Allibe so that she could forward it to Planner 1...haven't heard back from them yet.
  3. I think this combinatin is SO beautiful. I was planning to use this but changed my venue and then needed to change my color scheme as well. Check this wedding from Elizabeth Medina's website...I've obsessed over it many times. The read and aqua are such a beautiful/classic combination here!! http://www.elizabethmedinaphotography.com/blog/2009/02/puerto-vallarta-photography-kate-and-bills-playa-fiesta-wedding-and-trash-the-dress-session/
  4. Congrats Avi! you must be sooo excited. I can't wait to see your pictures. Please keep us updated after your big day. I'll definitely be thinking about you in the next few weeks. Best wishes for a beautiful wedding day!
  5. Adorable! I'm glad to see how that graphic turned out too...it's the one I'm considering for my mugs. It looks great!!!

We have about 20 people booked and about 20-30 more who will be booking in the next few weeks. Is just doing a welcome/thank you letter for the OOT to little? I don't want to have to lug more than I need to. I also don't want to spend more than I have to. I went to a DW and they did nothing in the rooms and I thought a thank you letter was all they really needed. Welcome and congrats!!! We've hired DJ Ivan and had the opportunity to meet with him at the resort for during our site visit. He was very professional and has received great review from other brides on the forum. We're also getting the lit dance floor from him and he is providing the sound system for our ceremony and welcome party as well. Did you use the resort's recommended vendors for rentals/flowers or did you select your own? I'm just entering this stage so I would love to hear what you've done for this. I think that a nice, personal welcome letter would be just fine for your guests. OOT bags are one of those things that are great, but not expected so I don't think your guests will miss it at all...then you can use that money for other parts of the wedding. Plus, more room in the suitcase for cute clothes!!!
  7. I found this bag on Etsy yesterday and thought that it might be cute for our OOT bag. At $10 it's a few more dollars than I planned on spending but I think that the reuse potential is higher than something we put our name on. I would add a personalized tag to it as well. Let me know what you think!!
  8. Those look fantastic!! It's going to be really awesome to see all of your friends using them at the resort. And I totally know what you mean about packages...a wedding shipment always makes my day!!!
  9. You've chosen such a beautiful location! Congrats on you minus-one year anniversary!!
  10. Hi girls! I just wanted to check in to see how everyone's planning is going. This week I sent out a long email update to our guests telling them exactly how to book. So far we've already had a few people book flights and a few ppl talk about contacting the TA...so that's definitely encouraging. I've also started to contact florists and FI and I have been discussing passport invites. How are things going for you
  11. I definitely remember reading somewhere that biodegradable sunscreen and bug spray is required, but it was never mentioned to us when we were at the resort. We kayaked and swam in the river with normal sunscreen on and when the guide asked if we brought repellent, he didn't specify what kind. I think you would probably be fine either way.
  12. The 'blinging' is going to look AMAZING but I would never have the patience to finish the project! I just bought my shoes last week. They are Kate Spade Chrisette LOL...the image is SO small, but you get the point :-)
  13. The only issue we had with bugs was when we were kayaking in the mangroves. Those mosquitoes are the size of squirrels!!! Granted, we went at 4pm and didn't bring insect repellent...but one of my bites actually bruised. I definitely plan to provide bug spray for my guests!! No bugs in the room though and we were on the first floor.
  14. I'm wearing a lace dress too! I actually thought it was perfect for my wedding in Mexico and I'm getting married right on the beach. I don't want a super tropical theme and I love how the lace has a sort of vintage-Spanish-y type of vibe. Plus it doesn't seem as heavy as satin. Here's a pic of me in the dress... P.S. I think the dress in your link is GORGEOUS!
  15. Just a random little FYI for everyone. I was emailing with Allibe yesterday and she told me that they are changing the florist that they work with. No word on who it will be yet but she said that it will be a 'better florist'.

I remember Becks naming someone a while back. Has anyone else booked yet? At first I was thinking, wow, why spend the money to bring your own, but it's starting to seem more and more worth it. Assuming you pay for 3 nights stay and flights, that's only about $1000 for travel. I guess it would depend what they would charge for the weekend... I know I've already posted about my photographer but thought I'd chime in again b/c I really think that bringing someone down is a great option. I LOVE Elizabeth Medina and was ready to book her but since she's pretty expensive, I decided to look around first at US photogs. I ended up finding mine through the forum. She is local so I have been able to meet her and she is going to do our engagement photos as well (great to loosen up camera-shy FI!). I'm totally OBSESSED with my photographer (Terra Dawn Blog Washington DC Wedding Photographer) and she will basically be our paparazzi for whole trip. She's coming on Wed to scope out good photo locations and will shoot for us on Thursday during the welcome dinner, all day Friday and on Saturday for the wedding. FI and I were thinking of going over to Maroma for a few hours on Friday to do a trash the dress (with a different dress of course). Anyway, we ended up getting Terra for less money than Elizabeth would have cost for 8hrs. It wasn't cheap mind you, but in my opinion a GREAT deal!!!

I am sure Allibe would give you a list of vendors for this, if you wanted to know of others besides the one you met? I know she offered me this option with a photographer. (Overall, I just went with my own that I had found). It kind of makes me nervous with all these vendors, when you don't really know what you are getting (unless you have met with them). I have started looking into the OOT bags.. Has anyone else been looking into this yet? any good finds? I met one florist while I was at HTR but have found info on a few others through the forum. I think Vanessa Jaimes looks really good. I'm also interested in Flores Julieta b/c she offers other services as well and the mariachi band listed on her site seems like a really good deal. I haven't gotten into this with Allibe yet since we've been focusing on the contract so much lately....one thing at a time seems to work best with her. As for the OOT bags, this is currently my fav bag: http://www.discountmugs.com/nc/tote-...ope-handle.htm I like the jute look and that it is customizable. I also plan to get personalized mugs from that website so that guests can have something insulated for their poolside cocktails. Other than that, I'm planning to do a hangover/first aid kit, playing cards, keycard holder and pool rafts (we just bought these from Target). I think bug spray is a good idea if you can find it at a good price...the mosquitos are KILLER in the rivers!! We Love chef Oscar he is amazing and the entire staff including Luis and Allibe they are awesome! If any of you need any info about my provider’s I’m more than happy to help. I plan to email Euphoria next week!!
  18. Question for Ana-- Who is your outside wedding planner? Is she coordinating all of your vendors? I'm starting to research florists, etc. I met the one Allibe uses during our site visit and he seemed very nice but I want to make sure that I do my research so that I can find someone with a modern style (and because I'm obsessive). Has anyone else picked vendors for florist, rentals, etc? I've looked at a few online but haven't contacted anyone yet because I've been so consumed with getting all of the contracts finalized!! I can't wait to start doing the 'pretty' part of wedding planning!!! Hinna--What's your wedding date? There are a few May 2011 brides on here now!!!!

  20. Hinna, When we visited the resort and Luis was talking to us about signing a group booking contract directly with the resort, he said the same thing...that it wouldn't matter how guests booked. We had previously been working through TA Jill and she's been so helpful throughout this whole process that we preferred to use her for our group contract. The resort said that this was fine but at the last minute they put an extra clause in our contract which stated that any guest who did not book though Jill's contract would be charged the FULL menu price (ie $60 plus bar cost) for private events. We were obviously upset but thankfully Jill was able to negotiate and get this taken out of our contract. We signed yesterday :-) I think that there is definitely peace of mind that you get by using a great TA but just keep this in mind before you sign a contract with the resort. Our TA had no problem getting the same perks for us that we would have gotten going directly through H3R. Also, our contract says rooms, not room nights. As for appetizers...Allibe told us that Oscar would put together a selection for us and that we could either have them sitting out or passed. It doesn't seem like the have a set appetizer menu that you select from. You can also do a signature cocktail if you would like and there is open bar at the cocktail hour as well. They also serve all of your guests a glass of champagne when there ceremony is over.
  21. Do any of you ladies know/remember the name of the florist that Allibe works with? I'm starting to look at a few online and can't recall the name of the resort's usual vendor.
  22. Quick comment/question about hair and makeup. Who are you guys having do it that charges $350...the resort or an outside vendor? I hired Fernando Fuentes who owns the Makeup Pros and that is what he charges but he is completely amazing and in my opinion, totally worth the money. Great professional makeup looks so much better in pictures and that's what you'll be left with after the wedding. Well, besides a husband ;-) I think it's a great splurge if you can afford it!!!
