    Hello

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Dreams RC looks like a beautiful resort!
  4. Picking the resort has definitely been the toughest part for me so far. I've read a ton of review on this site and Trip Advisor to narrow it down. We're going to go for a site visit this May, so I'm hoping that I'll know the perfect place when I see it :-) Good luck and have fun planning!!!!
  5. Congrats and welcome to the forum! Always glad to have another DW bride!!!
  6. My fiance and I are in a similar situation. We are down to two resorts in Playa del Carmen and know that we want to get married the weekend of May 7-8, 2011. BUT, we don't want to commit to one resort until we do our site visit in May of 2010. What we've settled on doing, is sending out our boarding pass STD for 'Playa del Carmen' and the weekend of our wedding. Once we officially lock down the resort, we want to send out an info brochure with more details re: accommodations and travel arrangements. Hopefully, this will give our guests time to save $ and vacation time. I've also gotten mixed feedback from ppl but have found that there's no one way to do things so you just have to go with what feels best for you and your FI. It's nice to know that other brides are debating over the same issues! None of my friends have had DW's so pretty sure they think I'm a little nuts ;-)
  7. I am planning to have my reception on the beach at the Royal and asked the same question about lighting (it's SO important for the pics!). I'm using DJ Ivan and he said that he provides lighting, including spotlights for the first dance, speeches, etc. The resort also provides 'mood' lighting like under-lit tables and tikki torches.
  8. Everything looks simply amazing...BUT I must say that I'm absolutely in LOVE with your flower girl. She looks adorable and so perfect for a beach wedding. I like it much more than the 'mini-bride' look :-)

    Hello

Welcome to the forum...it's addictive :-)
  10. I don't think you can go wrong either way! There's a ton of great info on the forum to help you decide. We picked the Royal because of the great reviews, proximity to Playa del Carmen and the beautiful beach reception. Keep us posted about which resort you choose!
  11. Thank you so much for your review. Everything, especially the bride looked beautiful and it's so great to hear positive feedback about a Royal wedding! Were you happy with Mayan Hospitality for the lounge furniture? Your set up looked really impressive and I haven't heard of anyone using them before. Their website looks like they also do catamaran charters...it would definitely be nice find one company that can take care of multiple wedding to-do's!
  12. These are great! I love when brides embrace their location for decoration/ambiance. The marachas, bright colors and ocean views look terrific!

    Hello!

Welcome! My best friend got married in Oahu and it was hands down the most gorgeous wedding I've ever been to. Happy planning :-)
  14. The VI's will be so gorgeous for your wedding. My FI was in a wedding there and always talks about how fantastic it was. CONGRATULATIONS!!
  15. Welcome to the forum! You'll find so much information on here to help you with your planning! I don't know what I would do without it.
  16. Congrats and welcome to the forum. Destination weddings are so much fun and every picture that I've seen of a wedding at El Dorado has been just gorgeous! Have fun planning!!
  17. I feel the same way about my bridesmaid dresses. J.Crew always has great options and I have a friend that just got her girls' dresses from jasmine bridal. They were from the B2 collection and were very flowy and graceful...I also liked that there were a ton of color options and that most of the dresses could be made either knee, tea or floor length. Keep us posted on the dresses you consider!!
  18. I bet the bows could be easily removed from the back...just ask the seamstress if you need to add more boning or structure to make sure that the dress will stay up well. You def don't want to be pulling at your dress on the dance floor all night!
  19. Congrats and welcome to the forum. Playa has so much to offer your guests! Have fun planning your wedding!!!
  20. Welcome to the forum! Past brides have great things to say about the Royal and the Royal thread has TONS of great info!!!
  21. Welcome to the forum. We have friends that vacationed at the Moon Palace last year and loved it!!
  22. YES!!!! We'd love to see more pictures!!! I finally heard back via e-mail from Luis with itemized answers to my questions. I guess a week turn-around wasn't too bad when you factor in the 'island-time'. I emailed back with a list of further questions; if I don't hear back soon, maybe I'll give him a call after the holiday. I'm pretty encouraged by the info that he sent. It sounds like they are pretty accommodating to requests and that prices are reasonable. He quoted me $350 for a symbolic ceremony and $700 for civil. Does that match with what you guys are paying? My TA also sent me an info packet that discussed getting a wedding package for free if you stay 7-nights. Did anyone take advantage of that perk? Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! We're getting TONS of snow in DC today which is kinda fun...but also makes me long for MX!!!!
  23. Hi ladies, I am really interested in any information you all can provide about weddings at HTR. When I was looking at resorts a few months ago, I really loved this one but thought that it might be too expensive...it was hard to figure out the costs since there weren't any set packages and the documents that Luis sent me were rather confusing! Anyway...I ended up putting a deposit down at the Royal in PDC which is a great resort but their wedding department has been pretty shady with price and policy changes without notice or explanation. FI and I are just not getting a good feeling about having our wedding with them anymore. Long story short, I found this thread and between what I've read here and Ash's great pictures...I am very seriously considering switching to HTR if we can make it work. I emailed Luis again but haven't heard back so any insight you ladies can provide about how your events were set up etc would be GREAT. Sorry for the essay here but I'm sure you all can relate to how crazy planning a DW can feel!!! -Becky
