Hi! I'm from right down the street from you...I live in Woodley Park, DC. I think that communication is tough with most resort wedding coordinators. Sometimes it's easier if you have a travel agent to help you. I found mine through this forum and she has helped me a ton! Congratulations and have fun with your planning. It's fun to hear from another BDW bride in the area!!

The smallest victory and I am THRILLED!!! On another note, I sent a very well thought out, detailed email with numbered questions to Doreen last week and got an email back. She responded to only one of my questions which was in regard to the time of my wedding in May. Her response was: "hi would you like me make the changes to the times of your wedding thanks" Seriously?? Do you guys think that it's worth trying to change coordinators? This is just absurd.

I actually ended up finding a pack of 60 sheets of heavy-weight cardstock at AC Moore (a craft store). The pack was normally $17 but I had a 50% off coupon so it ended up being a really good deal. I bought red cardstock for the ticket jackets which I had to purchase individually at Michaels. I think we'll buy the actual envelopes online b/c I haven't been able to find them in craft stores. It def takes a lot of shopping around to find what you need and still save money by going DIY. Let us know what you find!

Were you able to take any pictures? I completely agree with you about checking out your options before you make a decision. You don't want to have any regrets!! I was planning to wait until I was a year out from our wedding before shopping but when I was home for Christmas, my mom and sister wanted to check out the local bridal boutique. Happily, the Spring 2010 dresses were already in the store. It was a blast and as a result, I'm now totally addicted!!! I saw two dresses that I loved but the boutique didn't have one dress that I'm dying to try on...hence the trip this Friday here in DC. The dress is the Maggie Sottero Anniston. I can't wait to hear about the shopping trips and see everyone's dresses. I think I love clothes a little too much ;-) Oh, and Jess...you're website is AMAZING. Good job girl!

Kerri Kerri- I agree with JamK about the stress-free benefit of the TA but also wanted to say that I really do think that they can get you great deals. FI and I are going to the Royal this May for a site visit (can't wait) and my TA, Jill was able to do price matching for the the early early booking bonus that was being offered by the resort. Another benefit is that her prices include transfers from the Cancun airport which is SO important, esp when you're bringing a bunch of friends and family! Now, on a fun wedding-planning note...FI and are becoming Save the Date machines today! We're doing boarding passes with a little vistaprint magnet attached to the second pass. I think they're so cute and I can't wait to send them out...plus they take my mind off of price changing and communication problems at the Royal! I'm also going dress shopping on Friday so I'm a happy bride Does anyone else have big wedding planning goals for the week?

Thanks Lisa and Happy New Year to you too! I guess I'll have to write yet ANOTHER email to the Royal WC, confirming that we do NOT have to pay the $400 surcharge and that our outside vendor fee will only be $100 since we booked prior to Dec. Man...how much more can they change!!! I can think of a few New Years resolutions for the Royal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that when some places have MS trunk shows, they let you request specific dresses that will come in for the trunk show so you could try to do that. You have to call a few weeks in advance. Thanks...that's a really good idea. I'll check to see if there are any trunk shows in my area. BTW...I just read on another post that your dress is the Zuri. I LOVE that dress. It was the very first one I tried on. It's so flattering and is still in the running for me. Great choice!

I'm also using Jill and she's been terrific. Not only will she book our guests but she's a great resource in dealing with the Royal's wedding coordinators. PLUS...when your guests have travel questions or issues, they'll go to the TA and not you, allowing you to relax!
