  2. I was lucky enough to have my MOH's mom make the girls dresses. The girls paid $50 each for material and I was going to pay for the labor, but she won't take anything from me. She said its her gift to us.
  3. Congrats & Welcome! Happy planning!!!
  4. Good luck with the social planning girls. My best advice is if you see something on sale BUY IT!!! The best things we had at ours were the best deals, and if you wait to think about it, it probably won't be there when you go back.
  5. Congrats & Welcome! Let the planning begin!!!
  6. Welcome!!! Good Luck with the planning!
  7. Hi ladies! Just got home from my Jamaican wedding and I am so happy and so tired! LOL We had a great week at Breezes Grand Negril. The service was great! We climbed Dunn's River Falls and swam like fishes!!! Thought I would post a few pics for now and give a more detailed explanation later. ENJOY!! 8. Hi Ladies. Just wondering if anyone has any tips regarding flying with AIR CANADA All the advice seems promising, but I'm still worried about having too much stuff!!!
  9. Hi ladies! I leave on Saturday and of course I've left my jewelry to the last minute!!! I am going to wear my Baba's pearls, but I don't know what kind of earrings to wear with them. The necklace is an ivory color (kind of vintage looking--they are old!), but I don't know if I can find earrings to match the color. Should I just wear diamonds or will that look strange? Will whiter pearls be too mismatched? I don't want anything too fancy, trying to stay simple and classy but I thought some sort of stud would look nice. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!!!
  10. My BM just texted me about this. We leave this Saturday for Negril, via Montego Bay. Hopefully are plans are not interrupted!!! Kingston is pretty far away, so I'm not too worried, but we'll have to keep an eye on it!!

  12. I wish I would have thought of a hostess gift for mine, but they will be getting gifts for all the hard work throughout the process!
  13. I am so frustrated that I want to scream! I hate being the centre of attention and that's why my FI and I decided to have a DW, so it could be small without offending anyone. But his mom keeps trying to make us have a big deal and its driving me crazy! On Saturday we asked my brother and his gf if we could host a party at their new place to celebrate our wedding with those who couldn't make it to Jamaica. The idea being a casual BBQ/marshmallow roast, and just BYOB. Nothing fancy, not really an AHR, just a party with some family and friends. Well Sunday FI's parents are mad because they have already booked a space at a park for a BBQ with 300 people! When they told me I just started crying. Its so NOT what I want and I've explained it so many times that I can't believe they've done it anyway. My anxiety level is so high I'm afraid I will make myself sick. FI knows how I feel, but thinks its the same idea, and doesn't think that many people will come, so I should just let them do it because weddings are for the family, not just us. But I disagree because everything has been about his mom from the very beginning. I don't know what to do. Just needed to vent!!
  14. Hi Gingersmile! Great to see a fellow Winnipegger! If you want social information, some of us Peggers started a thread just for that, and their is lots of ideas and tips on there. Just search "Manitoba Social". I had mine in February, so feel free to ask me anything! I have attached a a checklist of sorts to get you started on your social planning! Good Luck! Social.doc
  15. I have a question about gift registry's. We got a call today from Home Outfitters saying that they had a gift for us that could be picked up. I'm not sure what the etiquette is: do we pick it up and save it for our shower next week? Do we just take it home and open it? Do we have someone else pick it up for us? Do we wait until after the shower to pick it up? I don't even know if it will be wrapped! I guess it must be from someone who can't make it to the shower, but I can't imagine who it is that wouldn't just send it along with someone else to the shower. But I'm also dying to know what it is! LOL Any advice would be appreciated!!!
  16. I was just wondering what the etiquette is for "Presentation" at an AHR. Normally we figure out the cost of the meal and add a bit more as our gift to the bride and groom. But we are just having a casual BBQ for our party, so should we assume that people won't think they have to do "presentation". I guess I'm wondering if we should put it on the invite, or if that will seem tacky because of the informal venue. I have given this gift at even casual weddings before, but I'm wondering if the DW some how negates the tradition. Any help would be appreciated!!!! Thanks!!
