Married Chicas - what is your new name???
jenninjamaica replied to pineapple princess's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
I really can't decide and I have been married for 5 months! We still haven't gotten our official marriage certificate so I haven't had to do anything yet. As a woman who was raised to be strong and independent I never thought I would change my name. But I do like the idea of having the same name as my children (I know some moms who have had trouble traveling with their kids when they kept their maiden name). And it seems that most people still assume women take their husbands name, so I wonder if its easier than explaining things constantly. I am not a fan of hyphens as that would be quite a long name for me. I guess I will just wait and see how I feel when we get the official paperwork! -

Orange and Aqua wedding colours
jenninjamaica replied to Danielle77's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I think everyone thought I was crazy for wanting my wedding colours to be orange and blue, since it is so untraditional (just like me!) But I think it is perfect for a beach wedding!! They got my flowers wrong, but I think everyone looked great! Â -
My friend bought her dress there and had the alterations done there as well. She was very happy with the experience, if that helps at all. Â

Post Groom and GM attire
jenninjamaica replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I left my husband in charge of his attire and his BM's attire and he did a pretty good job. He wanted a casual outfit since he is not a fancy guy. He wasn't suppose to wear a black shirt underneath, but he was so sweaty and he only brought black shirts that wick the sweat away. And honestly, I didn't even notice it until that evening. Everything but BM's pants were ordered from Island Importer and we were extremely happy with them. They have larger sizes that don't cost extra, which is a big deal for my guy. Â -

Love the dress! You look FANTASTIC in it!! Congrats! -
I can't believe I have been on this site for a year and have never come across this thread! Its a great idea. I wish there were more photos, so lets keep them coming!!! Â I remember when I found my dress I loved it, but as soon as I went home and looked it up online, I hated it on the model. I worried I made the wrong choice, and went so crazy my MOH finally dragged me back to the store and made me try on the sample again to remind me why I fell in love with it! Â This is the model pic of my dress: Â And this is a photo of me in the dress: Â Â Â This was a photo taken by a friend in between the photo session. My friends all joke this is me trying out a model pose! Â

I have to say I am surprised at how many people think this is tacky. But maybe that is just because both my family and my husbands do all family activities as pot-lucks. When we were deciding what kind of AHR (and I use this term loosely), it just seemed right to have a PotLuck BBQ. Our parents were nice enough to take care of the Burgers/Smokies/Condiments and then everyone else brought drinks, sides and desserts. It was a very casual party with 50 of our closest friends and family and exactly what we wanted. We made it clear that people didn't HAVE to bring anything. All we wanted was their company, but we are lucky enough to have so many people in our lives willing to help out. The contributions were amazing and there was way too much good food. The best part was that I didn't have to stress about anything. Â I think if it works for you and your family, do it. But if you are planning a typical fancy AHR, you might get some flack. But in the end its your day, do what you want!! Â *JENN*

Not happy about my Marriage License
jenninjamaica replied to jcruzin76's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Not that this will make you feel better, but my Resort in Negril, Jamaica told us it would be anywhere from 6-12 months. FRUSTRATING! But what can you do. I have heard that it does come, on Island time!! -
Hey Ladies. Hope the planning is going well. I had my social in February and I remember how much work it was!!! Here are a few other places I got donations from: Rumour's Comedy Club (mail letter and self-addressed stamped envelope--4 passes to a show) X-Treme Tactics(email--the boys really liked this one! Coupons) Beaujena's Restaurant (email--cute little romantic restaurant in St.Boniface--gave us $100 in coupons and another $20 for us!!) Danny's Whole Hog (telephone--great sauce, went with our BBQ) Fabutan (email--$100 in certificates!) Pelo Loco Salon & Spa (email--they gave us like 6 free haircuts, 3 nail services, and 4-50% off colours) Soul Haven Massage Therapy & Skin Care (email--$100 worth of services) Thunder Rapids (email) Domino's (We also ordered pizza from them for the social lunch, so they kicked in extra coupons!) Shooter's Family Golf (email--3 VIP packages worth $500 in coupons-the guys were VERY excited about this!) Fountain Tire (in person--4-VIP packages worth $400 in services) Our travel agent gave us 200 Free Airmiles, all the winner had to do was call her with their Airmiles number and she would put it on their account My husband mentioned the social to his chiropractor during a visit, and he offered a Foam Pillow (which I wanted to keep! LOL). I would never have thought to ask him, so always think outside the box Since many places get too many requests, they often donate to people they know. So ask all your family and friends to hit up their bosses! It doesn't hurt to ask!! Also, ask your massage therapist, dentist, hair stylist, nail salon, local flower shop, fave cafe, basically anywhere they know you!) Â Also, Winnipeg Free Press & CTV hold monthly draws for social baskets, apply online. Â All of the places I emailed have contact info on their websites, just Google them. Â Hope this helps! Feel free to contact me with any questions!! Good Luck!!

Congrats on finding THE dress!!! Its gorgeous!! -
Hey Girls! Well, that's it, the last step of our wedding adventure is finally over!! Because I am swamped with work and school, we opted for a simple BBQ to just spend the day with our family and friends. It was exactly what we wanted: fun and relaxing. The kids and dogs had a blast! Here's a few pics, Enjoy!! Our friends asked us to pose to cut a cake that someone brought, it was a fun, cheesy moment!! Simple Moments Everyone has a lot of catching up to do! The kids had a blast! Lots of smiles!

I ordered my dress!!!!

Great dress!!!! -
I can't imagine giving mine up. I loved when my mom would show me hers and I want to be able to share mine with my own children someday. I don't expect my daughter (if I have one!) to want to wear it, I certainly didn't want to wear mine, but I'd love to be able to share it. I love the idea of a dress chest, generations of wedding dresses would tell great stories! But I do love the idea of using it for christening gowns too!! That's so special!!

Grooms suit/attire
jenninjamaica replied to vacationsrthebest's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think linen is probably the most popular material on here for the guys. My husband and his best man ordered linen shirts and pants from Island Importers and they turned out well. The more casual stuff is great and the shirts come in really nice colours!! And my hubby is of a more generous size and his clothes didn't cost extra. He was so excited he fit into their standard size! They have a wedding section with suits if you are having a more formal affair, and you can have the clothes custom tailored, which is important in a suit. $280US is not bad for a suit! Here's the link. Hope it helps! Beach Wedding Attire: Drawstring Linen Pants, Cotton & Linen Shirts, Shorts, Skirts - Island Importer -

It doesn't seem like it would be that hard for the contestants to figure out who the saboteur is when there's only one person throwing the game. On The Mole, you wanted people to think you were the mole so they would answer the questions incorrectly & get kicked out of the game instead of you (so everyone did suspicious things to make it look like they were the mole). On BB since in the first sabotage almost everyone was sitting on a couch next to someone there are only so many suspects. If you were sitting next to someone & that person didn't move, then they can't be the saboteur. It seems like they could have come up with a better way to do the first sabotage instead of having almost everyone in the same room sitting nect to each other. I agree that it would be better if the saboteur were kept secret longer. I LOVED The Mole!!! The hint of a saboteur is enough to make everyone suspicious! I have no idea who it is, but I can't wait to find out. It probably would be better to keep it a secret, but I'm dying to know. I am wondering if its true that 2 people know each other. If its true I wonder if they will let us know. Can't wait for tonight!!!
