I went to a wedding where instead of a "toss", the bride had placed ribbons all around the bouquet and everyone had to hold an end (there was more ribbons so the more enthusiastic people held 2). Then at the same time we all pulled and one end was tied to the bouquet and everyone else's had cookie pops at the end. It was nice that everyone got something. You could do this with all your guests or your singles!

Silverangel: how did the hot lunch go over? Did you charge extra? I've been to a couple socials with a hot lunch and hardly anyone ate at one,and the other ended up with a big mess on the floor!!! What were the most popular prizes? We won a Wii at a social a few weeks ago, but since we have one we thought we'd use it at ours. Are they still popular? We thought we could accessorize it with the stuff that ends up costing tons, like extra controllers, docking station, a few games and the sports packs. What do you guys think? Is that an okay Grand Prize? (It was solo as a grand prize when we won it!)

I hate the glass clinking, but people do it no matter how hard the bride and groom try to find other ways!! My friend got married last year and made this board with lollipops and if you wanted them to kiss you could get up and pick a lollipop, and the stems were color coded which corresponded with a chart depicting the kind of kiss (ie. peck, with tongue,kiss someone besides your spouse, or choose your fave). You had to answer a trivia question about the couple and if you were right they kissed, but if you were wrong YOU had to do the kiss. It was pretty funny, but some people still insisted on clinking! We haven't decided what to do yet, but the dice idea sounds fun!!

I am so glad to finally hear some respectful debate about this topic. I am still on the fence about what to do, but I believe it is a personal choice and there is no "right" choice at this time, there just isn't enough data. But I keep coming across so many people trying to convince me I HAVE to have it. So I just wanted to say thanks ladies for just being decent human beings! Good luck everyone, whatever your choice!!!

Great ideas everyone!! I'm going to a house party for the first time in a few years on halloween, so I'm excited!!! I'm going as Wednesday Addams, so it won't be too hard to pull off, but I've left it so long I gotta go shopping tomorrow! LOL

We aren't paying for anyone's trip but our own. Most of our guests are thrilled about having a vacation and have no problem paying for their own trip, and everyone upgraded to the Oceanview Rooms! We did pay for deposits for 2 of our wedding party who were in the process of moving when the deposits were due. But that's all.
