  1. To all.... When you pick the food you are picking for every guest...right? What about picky eaters. I have a friend who will only eat chicken as a meat, and does not like seafood. We also have a guest who is allergic to shellfish. All the meals but the beef have some kind of seafood, or seafood stuffing..lol Cyndi
  2. Lady Di, Thanks for the suggestion. I have been talking it over with my parents and fiance, and we are still deciding what to do...we are now considering a private reception at the Royal. We talked about movin the wedding to another location. We looked at the Eco Park, and I fell in love, but the prices are crazy. Everything is kinda up in the air for now. Cyndi

The hair, makeup, and nails are included in my package but I could use either spa. Still a huge dissapointment, and not sure what we are going to do yet. As far as guests from The Gran being considered part of The Real guests in the package this is what Angie e-mailed me, Dear Jess, You are correct. They are considered a Real guest no matter which Real Resort they are staying at. Also this is the first that I am hearing that guests have to book the highest level room at The Grand...gggggrrrrrr I need to find out about this asap Jess, About the guests booking high dollar rooms: The reason I was upset about this is because my MOH is also my hairdresser. She was going to do my hair and makeup in my room. However, she has already informed me that she will be staying at the Gran. My parents as well are staying at the gran. I know they were going to get one of the low to mid cost rooms. The two highest categories are called Gran Suits. It is only with the reservation of a Gran Suit that Gran guests are allowed into the Royal (other than the ceremoney area). This ment that my mom, my MOH, and my daughter would not be in my room with me getting ready. My TA is working on things for me, but I am considering changing wedding locations because of this and the fact that I can't have my wedding and reception at the times that I want...it is just all kinda rubbing me wrong. However, I have not given up hope on the Royal yet...we will se what my TA works out. Cyndi

All my bridal party and parents are thankfully staying at The Royal but I have 4 flower girls! and obviously they will be staying at The Gran. I think this is so mis-leading since it says children are allowed for all wedding related activities. I really don't see what the big deal is in having them at the room. Does this mean they won't be allowed in the spa either?? GRRRRRRR....contacting the WC and she what she says I will keep you guys posted Jesmcan, From what Carol told me they do not allow any children in the hotel accept to attend the ceremoney and private receptions. I was so sad because my daughter who will be 6 then is taking part in our ceremoney and Carol told me she would not be allowed in my room while I was getting ready. She said they have had guests complain about children in the hotel outside of the wedding area, and that is why they are saying no. She did say (with a negative tone in her voice) that we could try to get one of the rooms near the street and sneek my daughter in...but I am not about to do that and then have a guest complain and security come tell me, on my wedding day, my daughter has to leave. That would be just terrible! So, I told her no thank you. Let me know what you find out after you talk to your WC Cyndi

Would they be able to sneak in? Kimmy, From what I understand they are only allowed into the hotel for the wedding event, so I am guessing they keep a close watch on if they are going up to rooms or if they head strt out to the wedding site. They do allow Gran guests all access to the Royal ONLY IF they are staying in a Gran Suit. These are the top dollar rooms at the Gran...they are the same price or moremore $ than the Royal Jr Suit Ocean View. That is part of why I am upset. They guests who are staying at the Gran are trying to save $, so they are not going to get one of teh most expensive rooms. We were just going to move all the wedding event over to the Gran and stay there while our guests are in town, but the Gran suit they were talking about putting us in was the same price as the suit at the Royal, but did not have the jacuzzii and we did not have access to any of the Royal. Hell, for the price of the Royal I want acess to all the amenities the Royal has....right!?!? Cyndi
  6. Okay I am sooo frustrated! I have been on the phone all day with people from the Real resorts. I guess my TA overlooked one miror detail. Here goes... We WERE having the weddding at the gazeebo at the Royal and then I was having to do the semi-p recetion at the Gran (so kids could come)...that was okay. However, my travel agent didn't think about my daughter, mom, aunt, and bridesmaid (who is doing my hair and make-up) coming over to my room before the ceremoney to get ready. The thing is that kids are not allowed in the rooms AT ALL, and ONLY guests staying in the Gran Suits (the top two room categories $$) are allowed to be at the Royal outside of the ceremoney time slot. Long story short...I either have to take all my things and go to the Gran to get ready then come back for the ceremoney at the Royal then go back to the Gran for the reception ( alot of walking..lol) OR change my wedding and my hotel to the Gran then move all my things over to the Royal after the wedding for the honeymoon. I know it is not the end of the world, but there are other things that have had to change as well...like wedding time and the room ameneties. I am just frustrated and needed to vent. Sad, Cyndi
  7. Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of a place near the Royal in Playa del carmen where I can get my BM flowers. I am on a budget though.. Thanks, Cyndi

Hey Lexibirde, Sounds like your reception is private since it is in the garden. Semi-private is less $...all it consists of is a reservation at one of the restaraunts for your entire group, and there is a specific meunu. There are still other hotel guests in the restarunt though. We decided to do this because we are having a reception back in Texas once we get home where we plan to invite everyone who was at the wedding plus a lot more. While I really wanted a private on the beach we just cant swing the cost of that plus a reception back home. My fiance is freaking out because we are paying for everything, and we just bought a house...not to mention he has no clue what a wedding really costs and doesn't get why people even do weddings. He would reather go to the court house...lol You should be able to have children, but you can always ask to make sure. =) Cyndi
  10. Okay so I found out today that they do not allow children for semi-private receptions at the Royal. So, I am going to do it at the Gran. Any sugestions from brides who have done this...I have to pick the restaraunt. Cyndi
  11. Jesmcan, I love this idea!! My dad would love going out on a boat. Now I just have to see if I can sqeeze the extra $ out of my fiance. Things just seem to be adding up so fast. We thought it would be less $ if we went away to get married. Now it is looking like it is going to be the same if we did it at home...maybe more. Cyndi
  12. Hi all, To Allison and others: I was thinking about having my guests meet up at one of the bars the night before the wedding. Kind of like a meet and greet. I saw that another bride did this and loved that it is no extra $ for us. Plus it is casual and doesn't take too much planning. Question for all...Are you all having a reception after you get home (for people who cannot travel). If so are you sending out a seperate invitation?
  13. Thanks Jesmcan! I am also considering Claudia Rodriguez. Her prices are better, but I really like Samules quick response to my e-mails. I love both of their work. Now it is just making a decision. Cyndi
  14. I am considering Claudia as a photog, and would like any feed back from other brides who have used her. Also if you have any pics from your wedding I would love to see! Thanks so much!!
  15. Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome!! Cyndi
  16. Hi everyone, I am considering Samule Luna as a photographer. I was wondering if anyone who has used him could tell me about their experience and their photos? Thanks so much!
  17. Hi Joy, I am a newbbie, and I love the idea of getting a second dress for your TTD photos. I am designing my own dress and having it made, so I did not want to trash it. Thanks for a great idea!! Thanks, CYndi
  18. Hey Shannon, I just love the design with the palm tree and your initials. Do you mind if I ask where you found it and how I can get one similar? Thanks, Cyndi
  19. Hello all, I was wondering if anyone had used Samul Luna as their photographer...if so would you we willing to share your experience? I want to make sure I pick the right photog since that will be one of the biggest expenses. Thanks, Cyndi
  20. Adrianna, Sorry, I just realized your wedding date is in 2010...lol I gues you would not have phtos yet..lol HAve you decided what pkg you are going with? CYndi
  21. Adrianna, I am considering using Samuel Luna. Do you have any of your photos that you might be willing to show? I want to see more of his work. Also, how long did you have him and were you happy with that amount of time? I want to make sure I have enough time to get great pics. Thanks, Cyndi
