Hi everyone- Since I've been misquoted on here, from a private message, I thought I'd clarify a bit- I am a firm believer that if you want specific information, you need to get it directly from the vendor you are dealing with. This is why I always suggest that people who e-mail me should e-mail the vendor. I'm happy to share my opinion, and amazing photos! But details like cost and other arrangements are not always the same for everyone. How can they be, when there are so many variables when it comes to a wedding?!! I explained that Daniel had been in the Mayan for a wedding already, when we had booked him. Then I suggested to her to see if there was another bride in the area who wanted to book him, as then perhaps they could split the cost. I didn't actually say that we had split the cost ourselves. I do apologize if that was misleading, but I want to clarify what I actually said. Anyways- my intentions we only meant to be helpful!! We loved Daniel, and found him to be extremely professional in every aspect. As a self-employed artist myself, I totally understand and agree with the importance of having a signed contract and a deposit, before the deal is done. No signed contract = no gig, no matter how many e-mails have been sent back and forth. If you're really concerned about a situation to do with booking a venue, photographer, musician, artist- whatever- and e-mail isn't working, I'd suggest using the telephone to follow up. I know when we were planning things I always felt better after a phone call with the wedding planner at the resort- nothing's open to interpretation when you're actually speaking to each other!!

If you are looking for an incredible, amazing, fun videographer for your wedding/TTD you MUST contact Ric Grajeda from Reelove. My Husband and I had the lucky opportunity to work with him during our epic TTD shoot with Daniel Aguilar (you can the review here). We had no idea what it was going to be like to do a video, and let me tell you, it was SO FUN!!!! Ric is a wonderful, kind and generous person with a contagious laugh, and he will make you feel like a goddess!!! We just received our video and I have to share it!! You can also see our video on his blog. Be sure to check out his other videos and TTD sessions as they are all incredible. Please feel free to send me any questions you might have- I'd be happy to answer!!!

Thanks everyone! Deb!!- I remember looking through at your slideshow!! I loved the picture of the fabric pillow with your rings, and your flower petal aisle was AMAZING!! Also- I just love how many shots you have of all of your guests. Daniel did such a great job of capturing the spirit and emotion of your day! Beautiful!!!

Choosing the right photographer was the hardest part of the entire planning process for me!! We ended up booking a photo session during our honeymoon- that way we had tons of time to play around, and get some great shots of just the 2 of us. I would TOTALLY recommend doing this. For our wedding we just crossed our fingers and went with the photographers included in our package- but we gave them some specific instructions about what shots we wanted, and in what style. In the end, it all worked out and we couldn't be more pleased with our decision!! My Husband and I were married in Mexico (at Secrets Maroma Beach), in January, 2010. I spent, literally, days stalking the internet looking for the right photographer for us. When I finally happened upon Daniel's blog, I think I actually leapt out of my chair with excitement. I just knew that he was the one. Not only did he respond quickly to my initial inquiry, he CALLED ME ON THE PHONE. To speak with someone, to hear their voice, their personality, in these days of endless e-mails was the touch that really sold me. Daniel is a lovely, kind person, and you know it the second you hear his voice. Well, sometimes things happen that are out of our control, and for many reasons (all ours- nothing to do with Daniel), and after shedding tons of tears, it turned out that we weren't going to be able to have Daniel photograph our wedding after all. My Husband and I were, needless to say, devastated. Then, something- you could say fate- intervened. Daniel was going to be in the Mayan during our honeymoon! He sent us an e-mail wondering if we were still going to be around, and if we might be interested in arranging a formal and TTD photo session. We responded with an ecstatic- YES!!!!!!!!! We couldn't believe that we were going to be able to work with Daniel after all!! YAY!! I am so, so thankful that things worked out the way they did. We spent hours with Daniel, over 2 days, in numerous locations. We laughed, and talked, had an all together wonderful time, and my Husband and I felt like supermodels. (We are far from supermodels- believe me!!!). We have recently seen our photos from the session, and we are THRILLED!!! Not only are they amazing photos, they are actually works of art. All of our friends and family are amazed, and the feedback we have received has been phenomenal. You can look at some of our pictures from the photo shoot over at Daniel's blog. Shauna + Jeremy – The Maroma Beach Photos and Trash The Dress Riviera Maya Wedding Photographer – Daniel Aguilar and the Destination Wedding Adventures That link will take you to our photo shoot, but I highly recommend you spend the time to look over the rest of his blog as well as his website. Can you tell that we LOVED working with Daniel? Can you tell that we are thrilled beyond belief with our photographs? We did. We are. He is just wonderful, and you will not, for one teeny-tiny second, regret hiring him. Please feel free to message me here if you have any other questions about Daniel, I will be happy to answer them for you!

My husband and I were married at Secrets Maroma Beach on January 11th, 2010. We planned to do a destination wedding so we could spend a week with our family and friends, and also so that we didn't have to stress too much about the actual day!! If you are a person who is extremely hands on, and wants to control everything down to the last detail, I wouldn't recommend a DW. Cecilia was relaxed and lovely. She did a fabulous job with the flowers, and arranging our tables for the reception. The meal we had for our wedding was one of the best we had at the resort- the steak was perfect- and believe me- If you're from Alberta, you know your steak!!! As for hair and make-up, I did my own make-up, and in hindsight would have done my own hair too!! I had my hair done at the spa and it was not really my style, but, whatever. It's just hair!! If I had had time I would have restyled it myself, but I ended up just rocking what I had to work with. My MOH's hair, however, was fabulous!! We would have loved to have an outside photographer for the day of the wedding, but unfortunately that wasn't in the picture ($$) for us, so we crossed our fingers and went with what was included in the package. We had Alex and Tony, from Juan Navarro, and they got some great shots. We were very specific in our requests for horizontal, symmetrical shots, and no cheesy special effects, to which they basically complied. We purchased an extra disk from them with all of the pictures- my only tip is barter!! You're in Mexico!! We were lucky enough that we were able to arrange a separate photo shoot and TTD while we were on our honeymoon- and for this we used the wonderful, amazing, kind and uber talented, Daniel Aguilar. Ladies- if you are looking for a photographer, he is your guy!! Secrets Maroma was a beautiful, lovely place, and we feel very fortunate that we were able to spend 2 weeks, oceanfront, there. The food was great, the beach is divine, and the service was just incredible. My Husband and I are both beach people, but we we discovered the benefits of the pool at this resort- the pool service is amazing!! Also- I have a severe shellfish allergy, and I never worried once- they always made sure that whatever I ordered was grilled on a separate surface, and safe for me to eat. Wow. If you choose Secrets for your wedding, my only tip is to not sweat the small things. Relax. Enjoy. Smile. No wedding is ever perfect. But at least yours will be in paradise!!!
