  1. They don't arrange shipment you have to do it from where you live. In NY/NJ there are alot of companies that ship to family/business in DR and although it's rather cheap it does take veryyyy long to get there, almost 3 months, since its via cargo-ship, they put it in container bins. I think 3 large boxes is going to cost me around $150 max.. I don't mind since I will be prepared for it (time). I agree with you on the whole beach concept, the ballroom was not going to be an option for me AT ALL... but I really am not thrilled about sand, heels and dancing lol... so I'm having the beach gazebo for the ceremony and I privatized the restautant facing the beach, I will be having almost 100 guests so I will make use of the space. I'm going to have Dj Mannia with the illuminated dance floor, and Pastor York doing the symbolic ceremony.
  2. Hey Janey, I've been planning with Jennifer, that was something that I had stated from the beginning when I was at PPC last November. I knew from the start that I wanted to ship my decorations and my OOT bags. She said no problem and that they would hold my packages until my arrival. I'm also gonna try and stuff whatevr else I don't have to carry in my luggage. I hate those luggage fees! lol I'm getting married 11/12/11... just a lil bit after you you must tell me how it goes for you! Where are you having your ceremony/reception?
  3. I would say 5pm that way once the ceremony is over the sunset starts which will be great for pictures
  4. I'm getting married in PPC and they allow you to ship before hand, I will be shipping via cargo 3 large boxes appx 3 months in advance that way it arrives on time, costs like $150 and doesn't go by weight. I'm shipping my decorations and my OOT supplies.
  5. Since I've already been to Paradisus Punta Cana, I know the area, I will be doing my hair outside of the resort in one of the plazas, The spa in the resort charges $90+ for a hair style where I pay $50 max in NY, the outside hair salons in PC charge $25, which is great!, I already went saw their work and showed them what I was looking for. In regards to my makeup, I'm getting a professional artist from the capital to come and do everyone's makeup, she charges $80 for brides, $50 for bridesmaids plus transportation. Makeup means alot to me, it always reflects in pictures, I think I would be stressed doing it myself.... I need to relax in the moments leading up to the ceremony.
  6. Check out Daviel Taveras, awesome photgrapher, he's based out of Santo Domingo/Miami but travels to Punta Cana, he's shot weddings at PPC, he's booked for my wedding in November, recommend him 1000% http://vlokstudio.com/
  7. I'm Dominican, that was a reason but besides that, I thought the flight was pretty short in comparison to other carribean islands, I feel like you get more bang for your buck in DR, all-inclusive is a great plus!! some islands don't have all inclusive options. I've also have been to several DW in DR and it's simply beautiful and I also visited the resort that I'm have my wedding at and it's just completely for us, the scenery, the beaches, the weather, the staff... I love it all. You don't have to stay in the island for a minimum period of time but you do need to have the appropriate paper work in order to have a valid marriage in the DR. I thought it was going to be too much of a hassle and its pretty pricey so I'm going to get married at home right before we go and just have a symbolic ceremony in DR.
  8. Beautiful album! Congrats, You looked like a blushing bride, you can feel the love through the pics
  9. The boarding pass invitations came out to $5.50 each, I only needed 75 so the total cost wasn't sticker shock to me...lol I'm different and unique and I thought the theme and style were perfect so.... I will cut back some where else but not on the invitations...some people say it's just paper that gets thrown out.. but I appreciate invitations so... I'm hoping my guest do too.. her info is http://www.passportinvitations.com/ http://www.anaderoux.com/ she has a blog on her website you should check, she always post new work on it, you have to contact her through the website but she gets back to you within a day or two. she's also on Facebook, she's based out of texas http://thevegasweddingplanner.com/2010/03/01/vendor-spotlight-ana-de-roux-invitations/
  10. Thanks Delnia My theme colors are Teal, Coral and Grey, I wanted an invitation that was fun yet classy and I fell in Love with Ana's site... my STD magnets unfortunately I got from another place. We actually went to Paradisus Punta Cana where the Wedding will take place and I wanted to incorporate pictures from DR for my STD. I don't have an actual pic of my magnet but this is what it looks like.
  11. Sharon I was thinking the same thing, but MY MOTHER!! lol made me feel so guilty, for several reasons i.e. casualness of a DW, not having a froofy dress...lol blah blah, so to please her I said I would wear a veil only for the ceremony (also, David Tutera <3 says when else will you get to wear one) < he has a point...lol I also saw a beautiful pic of a bride with a veil on the beach and I must admit it looked beautiful, this isn't it but I would love a pic like this So yes, I want a a simple one tiered cathedral length veil for my dress, I will still wear a beautiful flower and just remove the veils after the ceremony and pics
