  1. Thanks everyone! Michelle10- I made the logo in Publisher. Aimee&Ted, uh duh- you would think I would know that as I've seen like every episode, lol! Thanks for explaining that to me, I feel like such a dork. And yes, a new Project Runway comes out like January 12th or 14th.

I can pretty much make anything I have a pic of so I'm excited for what I will do for myself!!
  3. I may be biased, but she definitely stood out! There were 5 other girls in the limo with her and their dates... they were in love with her dress and could not believe I made it. She originally did not trust me on the color, but I told her to trust me- she needed to be different and I didn't think many girls would have this color. I got so many gown requests off of her dress, but I told everyone I'M RETIRED, LOL! Just concentrating on being a nurse now.

No, I haven't tried on any of these dresses as I have to get down to my pre-nursing school weight first, lol. However, these are the same silhouettes as gowns I've worn in the past and have in my closet. I was an eveningwear/bridal gown designer for many years and have made numerous gowns for myself and my daughters- some similar to these. As a matter of fact, here's a dress I made for my daughter's prom a few months ago...
  5. Oh why do you do this to us?? I've been following this thread for so long!
  6. Wow Miranda, that's what I'm talking about! However, I wish I was getting my dress made too- but I'm making it myself, lol! Here's a few of my pics- actually, I have more than a few, so I'll list some each day, lol: And I loved the gown below ever since I saw it on "Say Yes to the Dress"! And this:
  7. Our colors are turquoise, burnt orange and bronze. I think pretty much anything will look good with turquoise!
  8. Also, you mentioned that the stores that had the styles that you prefer did not have them in your size, but they did have other gowns in your size. As a former bridal gown consultant, don't shy away from dresses because they are not what you originally envisioned. We had a lot of plus sized brides, that wouldn't take this advice from me until they were nearly in tears after trying on dozens of dresses. Then I would ask, "are you ready to try on the dress I have in mind for you, now?". It sealed the deal 80% of the time, since I knew in my mind what would look great on them.
  9. If you're getting married in Jamaica, the first thing I would do is to narrow the region down to those that you like most. There's Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, as well as others. Then decide how you envision your wedding; are you more interested in a large, more "tourist" type resort, or a small, intimate resort. Will there be children? What are their ages? Or would you prefer to be at an "adults only" resort? That should get you started!
  10. Hi ladies! Since I'll be making my own wedding dress, I've started googling for images of gowns I might like. However, I want a SuperSexy (but classy) gown, and haven't seen many in my searches. I know I love some of the Pnina Tornai gowns from "Say Yes to the Dress", and there is one gown in particular that I love, Love, LOVE from the show. A past beauty queen named Bree had worn it, and it was Super Hot! But, I digress... just thought I would put you ladies to work to see if you have any pics of what I might be looking for...
  11. Congrats! Just so you know, the folks that operate this site are travel agents that specialize in destination weddings, and have each had a destination wedding themselves. So, you may want to click on the banner at the top right of the page and contact one of them. We're getting married at Tensing Pen in Negril, Jamaica in April of 2011, but are not going all-inclusive. Just a personal decision since neither of us prefer all-inclusive plans as we like to experience the actual country wherever we're staying and just have not found the value in doing an AI plan. But, just ask the TA's their thoughts and I'm sure they can find out what will work best for you. Good luck!
  12. You've come to the right place. Be sure to check out the Jamaica forum for more ideas on locations.

  15. Congrats! You are going to be soooo addicted to this forum... get ready to miss alot of sleep!
  16. Yea, if I already took the time to reply "no", I probably would wonder why I'm receiving an invite in the mail.
  17. Quote: Originally Posted by Meitra Wow QueenDiva you are an inspiration to getting things done! I'm interested in Tensing Pen too, can you tell me what kind of rates they're giving you? Also, will you be having any kids under 12 there for your ceremony? And since you mentioned your website is under construction, what wedding website are you using? Thanks! I'm getting the rates posted on their website with a 10% discount. You need 1 night's stay for the whole resort (or # of rooms you want) to confirm/reserve your date, and my guests must book thru me, so I can make sure things are getting done on MY timeline. In fact, they need a deposit just to RSVP, lol. As I prefer this to be an adults trip, I'm recommending that for the guests to be able to enjoy their trip, they may not want to bring "small" children. However, Tensing Pen has no minimum age requirement. I'm using GoDaddy "Website Tonight" to create my website; once you get the hang of it, it's not that bad.
  18. Awww... congratulations Chaklit! Trust me, the sickness will be leaving in 3-4 more weeks and you'll feel alot better. Then, get back to planning!
  19. Thanks guys, I'm thinking that I'd like to get as much done as possible. I think the STD's will be awesome! Just trying to stay organized...
  20. Congrats and welcome! In my mind, there's no better place than Jamaica...
  21. Congrats! I'm getting married at Tensing Pen too, in April of 2011. We won't be able to confirm our date until we send our deposit in January. But, we're SUPER-EXCITED. And I'm really excited to see someone else is getting married at Tensing Pen, as you don't see many of us around, lol.
  22. Although I'm not getting married until April of 2011, I have completed the following: Picked wedding colors (turquoise, orange, and bronze), found a wedding site (Tensing Pen in Negril), completed the layout for my boarding pass STD's, completed my enclosure letter for the STD's, started my wedding website, contacted the WC at my resort, will be making payment to secure the resort in January 2010, broke down complete costs per person for their entire stay at each of the 2 resorts, contacted an airline regarding options for group rates... whoo! All while working 12 hour days, lol! I guess past skills as an event planner are paying off!
  23. Congratulations- also getting married in Jamaica in 2011!
