Oh that is sooo cute! But they have lost their mind with that pricing! I don't know of anyone renting those in Jamaica, but I'm sure little kiddie wagons must exist there? Maybe you can decorate it there? Oh, maybe google for toy stores in Jamaica or something. I have heard of a big Sam's Club type of warehouse store in Montego Bay...maybe they would have kiddie wagons?

Has anyone ever been there or heard of someone who went? I've been researching honeymoon possibilities for a while as I would like to book in the next couple of months...just when I got exhausted and overwhelmed with research, I happened to come across this resort...

NEGRIL Welcome/Rehearsal Dinner??

The view is awesome, overlooking the sea, the food is soooo good, and they had a live band when we were there. I'm going to try to attach a couple of pics (hope they show up)... -
Yes, yay!! At least you're on the right track. I'm sure Ari will be wonderful, I've ready many great things about her. I'm glad you've found a place. Now... happy planning!!

Soooo Selassie, what have you come up with? I'm dying to know, wedding twin! Anything I can do to help, let me know!

Congrats! I heart Jamaica! You'll find soooo much info on this forum!

Haha, almost! I did email her a few months ago, but she let me know that Tensing doesn't even allow her on the property! So... that's not me, lol- but thanks for the compliment! Oh, I just looked at that place on line and it is very pretty! That might be another option! Also, here is the link to Pushcart Restaurant's menu with the prices http://www.rockhousehotel.com/assets...hcart_menu.pdf ...once again, you may want to look at LTU Pub too (for the rehearsal dinner), it's on the cliffs next to Rick's and the food is awesome! If you do decide to still do Tensing and need a place for your guest overflow, I would still suggest Rockhouse as the studios fit 2ppl and are $150 per night, and the standards can fit up to 4 ppl and are $125 per night (low season)- provided we don't end up having the same wedding date, lol, as we have the whole resort!

You may want to look into Kuyaba...mmm...mmm...gooood! Also, Pushcart's food is divinely good! -
Wow do we think alike, lol!! We'll be taking our guests on a catamaran cruise that has open bar and serves pizza (we're trying to see if we can get jerk chicken too, but FI is fine with a good cheese pizza & drinks). Because we want to switch it up too, we'll be staying 3 nights at Rockhouse, then 3 nights at a resort on the beach. My hubby-to-be is also vegetarian (this is too funny), and I'll be there in July with a few friends to figure out exactly what I want to do at the resort, as well as scouting some other things out too. Alot of similarities here...

Yes, TP is a beautiful place...we visited when we stayed at Rockhouse in September. I know how you feel! Although it's a destination wedding, I still wanted it to be as awesome as it would be if I had it at home. I'm an ex-event planner, so am extremely picky and have a vision! Ask as many questions as you can and it helps to number them as I did above when you send them. I guess everything happens for a reason, lol, glad I could free up the date for you- I actually was in the process of sending the deposit for that date back in January, then I discussed it with FI and stopped so as to follow the uneasy feeling in my gut. How exciting we're wedding twins!! Oh, and I'm using Sungold...

Chain resort versus private boutique hotels?
QueenDiva replied to sunsetkiss's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I agree with all the above posts. Picking a chain or boutique hotel is a matter of personality and preference; it depends on what you're looking for. For me, I had to have an individualized experience. I did not want anyone else getting married at the resort the same day as me! I LOVE more intimate settings and tend to avoid the "touristy" types of hotels. But for some, that may be something you prefer. As a poster above said, that is kind of a pro as if your guests are not familiar with a particular locale, the chain resorts typically have lots of activities for guests. I love this forum, but it was kind of frustrating seeing all the threads on 1 particular resort over and over again. That kind of really turned me off of the chain type weddings, imagining like 4 different weddings in a day, lol. But, once again, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and it does have its advantages such as price. I will say that the deals that the girls get that go with the chain resorts are awesome! So, that in itself may be something you want to consider... -
I was originally going with Tensing Pen for April 2011, but changed my mind due to just feeling uncomfortable with them-instead, I'll be getting married at Rockhouse in April of next year. They do not allow an outside wedding coordinator and I've emailed with a previous bride who said to be careful of all the hidden fees. They even have a per person "set up" fee?? Anyhoo, I did have some email correspondence with the WC that may answer some of your questions. 1. What is the total amount that I need to pay in January for the 1 nights deposit to hold our date for April 28-May1st? The rates go up at the beginning of the next winter season, so I am not able to quote you the rates just now. 2. When does the final money for the rooms have to be paid? Once the deposit is paid the final balance is due upon arrival. 3. What are ALL the fees that I need to be aware of (ex. any set-up fees, rental fees, officiant fees, etc.)? 4. Do you have a vendor list that you can send me? There is a set-up and breakdown fee of US$10.00, there is also a vendors fee of US$500.00 for each non-vendor of the resort. 5. How much is the DJ and who is he? A DJ cost US$225.00 per hour and plays for a minimum of three hours. 6. Do you have a Steel Drum band and how much is it? A steel drum band is available at a cost of US$350.00 per hour. 7. Is there a minimum age requirement for guests? If you are taking the entire property then there is no age requirement. 8. If we have an overflow of guests and they have to stay at a neighboring hotel, will they still be able to come to the wedding/reception? Is there a charge for this? No charge to come on property. 9. Do you have a menu of the dinner choices for the reception with the prices that you can send to me? See attached file for information on wedding menus and cost, you can also visit the website for additional menus. 10. Is there a contract that I need to sign? As things get finalized there is a contract that you sign. Hopes this helps a little

Rockhouse Hotel Reception Locations
QueenDiva replied to QueenDiva's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
It will be 60-85 guests. We stayed there for 2 days back in September, but for the life of me I can't visualize the areas. Guess I wasn't looking with "bridal eyes" back then, lol. -

I'm hoping to have Paula and Damian do my pics too. I emailed a few months ago, but just got my site confirmed, so emailed her again last week. Though I doubt I will go for the most expensive pkg, I'm sure she can customize something for my budget. Until then, I'll be working lots of overtime!! I absolutely love their work! -
I know there hasn't been many Rockhouse brides on here, but for anyone that knows... what are the different areas of the hotel for the reception and which one was better?
