  1. @TA Maureen- good advice! I definitely agree that you should keep in contact with the guests. I have the website (that's already gotten 640 hits!), and have added a guestbook on there. In addition, I ordered reminder postcards from Vistaprint (100 free!) that I plan to send out in the 1st week of August. I do also agree that I'm able to do this because my wedding is at a smaller resort; I don't see how you would be able to do this with a larger type resort.

It sounds like such a great idea. You seem to have it all figured out! Go ahead girl!! Thanks! Yes, it is in the FAQS section of my website and the letter included with my STD's. Since our 1st resort only has 34 rooms, I let everyone know that the rooms are 1st come 1st served- I would not be holding any rooms for anyone. I have a quote request form on my website that they can fill out (that forwards to my email). I email them a quote with their deposit due; the deposit is usually $400, enough to cover their entire stay at the 1st resort, with the balance due in October (which will cover the stay at the second resort). Since no one can book a room at the hotel, but me- I have complete control and know who is in what room.
  3. I know the dresses for my girls take 4 months to come in, then they said allow 6 weeks for alterations.

  5. I can honestly say that it hasn't been so bad so far. We have between 60-80 people coming (more are trying to come, but I'm capping it off). In order to control the number of guests and stay in the know about who is coming, I've set it up with the resorts where no one can book a room except for me. So, guests email from my website with a quote request that includes how many to a room, what type of room and whether they're only doing the 3 nights at the first resort, or if they'll be joining us for another 4 nights at the second resort. From there, I return a quote that includes everything but airfare, and they know that they have to send a deposit just to RSVP! I've also set a date for the balance to be due. So far it has worked out lovely, and I am able to be in control of it all.
  6. Here are my girls' dresses. Love them!! Just ordered them today in turquoise.
  7. No more than 80- more want to come, but I HAD to cut the list down. I actually have people on a "waitlist" lol!
  8. Haha, so cute and nice of you to email on your honeymoon to warn the girls. BDW girls are so loyal!
  9. Very creative! I love the look of the hand painted peonies!

  11. I hear ya! It is such a big relief after you pick the resort!
  12. No, I had been emailing them to find out when the big blowout sale was, but they would never respond and I have to request time off work at least a month ahead of time. I will probably just fly to NY in a couple of months to see if they have anything similar, because I know they don't have another dress like the one on SYTTD.
  13. Welcome! Yes, as a future Rockhouse bride I would soooo love it if you posted a review with lots of pics. Although Rockhouse is a beautiful site for a wedding, I rarely see anything on this site about it, which is why I would be so thrilled if you posted some stuff!
  14. Thanks for the info joemama! I actually ran across your site when I was doing a google search for Rockhouse weddings. But the link above to your pics gives me such a greater view of the various wedding/reception areas that I could not remember.

I don't know why it just seems that I get hotter than everyone else! I pray that sweat is not dripping off my face as I say my vows...I'm not too sure about the parasol idea as I really want to walk down the aisle with a bouquet, not a parasol. Maybe I'll have my MOH next to me hold the parasol to shield me from the sun...
  17. Very nice! I'm sure you all will really enjoy that nice long vacation! Good job on the wedding details.

  19. Thanks girls! Yes, I will be changing into a shorter dress a little later on in the reception, but I dunno, the hotter it is in Chicago, the more I'm rethinking that dress, lol.
  20. I have a question while sitting in this sweltering (sp?) heat of Chicago. I have been in love with a wedding dress the first time I saw it on "Say Yes to the Dress" months ago. I had my heart set on this being "THE DRESS". But now the Chicago heat is killing me!! I'm one of those gals that cannot take heat... I get cranky, tired and weak. So, in the past few weeks, all I can think about is how hot I will be in this dress, lol!! Please let me know where you're getting married at and show me your dress. I would so appreciate it! Maybe it would let me know I'm over-reacting just a little bit...
  21. Yay! Chicago DW bride here too. You've come to the right place!
  22. Congrats Mel! You will get so much info from this site!
  23. Welcome!! There's a great April 2011 bride thread here, too http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-brides-56903/
