SSPIRIS - Playacar is an area that has lots of resorts and condos for people. We stayed there about 2 years ago at a small resort. It was fantastic! It felt safe to walk around and look at some of the other resorts and it was only a 10 min walk to Playa Del Carmen where we would venture for our morning Starbucks. We're getting married at Bahia Principe Coba. Though it is not in our ideal Playa Car resort area it does have somethings that we did want... 1. Size. We wanted a large resort so if we wanted to we could sneak away for some alone time without bumping into the whole fam. 2. Choice. Some of our family members are not ones to travel off the resort on an excursion or shopping trip so we wanted to make sure that the resort really did have everything for them to do. I hear the hasienda (sp?) is a great place for nick nacks. 3. Price. There are some places that I would have loved to have picked for my wedding *cough* Azul Sensatori *cough*, but it just wouldn't have been economical for our family and friends to get there. That being said, we're plainnig on taking a delayed honeymoon to our number one pick when my FH is done school this year. So thats that. We are all set and I'm getting excited. There was another thread where another bride was going through a similar thing. We booked our wedding more then a year in advance to appease anxious family memebers. Our TA gave us a year price garuntee for 20 spots and then after the year if those weren't filled then 10 spots would be dropped and the price would change for additional guest. I thought that this was more then fair and I think that what you're going through is more then unfair. My advise, if it's possible to switch who you're working then do so. Try to find a TA that specialises in destination weddings. I'm sure you could even find a vendor on this forum that would be able to help. Most importantly, if you feel preasured then don't do it. It's not fair to you or your guests. Good luck!

Its times like this I wish I live in the states. This deal is fantastic only the shipping is going to cost nearly $70 US to get them to Canada. :-(

With our TA we were given 1 year at the quoted price and for up to 20 guests. After the year 10 spots were still heald and the other 10 dropped if not filled. I agree with honey that perhaps you should consider using a different travel agent if possible. Try and find someone that specializes in weddings that can go to bat for you when negotiating price and availble spots etc.

I had my dress mad to a custom length because of the lace. Too short for heals but I didn't want to be tripping on it while walking along the san in bare feet. We're having a Canadian reception in February too and I'm thinking about hemming my dress to a cocktail length for that. Is anyone else altering their dresses for a second reception?

jkcz - Oh shucks really? I'm disappointed now. I knew when I was looking at the map that it didn't seem right. I've asked my TA about it several times and each time I've been told its the one closest to the water. Guess it's time to have a chat with them about it again. Thanks for letting me know. Hello everyone, My name is Keira and I will be getting married to my Steven on November 5th this year at Gran Bahia Principe Coba. We're less then 4 months away and I'm getting more excited every day. I've read lots of stuff on the threads and thought now would be a good time to join in on some of the conversations. One thing I would really like to know is if there is anyone out there that is also getting married at this resort on the same day or during the same week (Oct 31- Nov 07)?
