  1. I think it depends on the type of setting/atmospere you want. We have young children coming so Sandals wasn't an option. All the resorts are gorgeous and you can't go wrong with any of them. I think a lot lot of the Sandals properties are more quiet, laid back, and romantic since they are mostly filled with couples, where as Beaches is a little more lively and fun with lots of young families with kids. My best suggestion is to contact a reputable TA who specializes in destination weddings and they can guide you thru the process and help you make the best decision. Good luck with whichever resort you select!!
  2. Hi LaurenMarie!! Congrats on picking your date/time!! I'm also a May Beaches T&C bride!! We are getting married at 11am on 5/5/2011. At first I wasn't thrilled with the time, as I really wanted 4pm, but 11 was the only available time remaining when we booked. The more I think about it, the better it might work out (fingers crossed). Hopefully it won't be too hot, and we do have guests with young children, and they aren't the type that would use the babysitting services at the resort, so I'm sure they won't be staying out too late. The only thing I'm trying to figure out is the photography. With the sun so high I'm told (by the photographer) that we may be squinting in the pics and we should do pics later in the day if possible. I just think I'll be hot and sweaty by just hanging out for so many hours before going off site to take pics.......
  3. Yep, there is a new catalog. My TA emailed it to me but I was in the middle of upgrading the Adobe software on my computer at work when I received it and then started having computer issues, so when I left work, my IT guy was still working on my computer and I haven't been able to look at it yet, lol. I'm dying to see it!!!
  4. blech...that's not what I wanted to hear Josie, lol. I'm fine with using real touch flowers and bringing them myself, but I thought since the orchids are included in the BB package that I could save some money by not having to purchase more real touch flowers. This may be a stupid question, but does anyone know if you don't use any flowers from the resort, do they credit anything back, like a credit that you could use towards other upgrades?
  5. I can't answer the question about weddings on Sundays, but I do know that you don't have to walk down the aisle or do a first dance, etc....your wedding can be as formal/casual/big/small as you want it to be! That's part of the beauty of having a DW - no one really *expects* anything and you have the freedom to do what you want
  6. cheese cake : my dad makes the best!!!
  7. I say rock the fuchsia shoes!!! My colors are fuchsia and orange and I totes want to find some fuchsia shoes to wear!!!
  8. I'm wondering why this is still a sticky when this promotion was from years ago??? Unless it's something the TA's know is going to be back soon??
  9. Happy Wedding Day Ang!! How exciting that the big day is finally here!! I'm sure you will be a gorgeous bride and I hope your big day is everything you dreamed of and more!! Congrats!!!
  10. So was the BD shoot what prompted the whole meetup? Unfortunately this Sept won't work for me, but I'd def like to do one in the future with Tammy, especially after all the rave reviews I've seen everyone give her! I'm thinking about doing one for a 1 yr anni gift instead of for the wedding.
  11. We are also having a super small wedding...right now it's looking like less than 10 people including us. We have a few people on the fence, but even if they do decide to go, we're still probably only looking at 12 to 14 people at the very most. At first I worried about the same thing as you...but as I got further into my planning and saw more and more brides posting about their small weddings, it made me more comfortable about our choice and also made me realize that all that matters is that we're freaking getting married!!! woot!! I'm sure you'll have a fantabulous time no matter how many or few people attend
  12. I didn't know you did your BD shoot here Karla! How fun! Was that when you were here for the SB meet up?
  13. All of you Beaches T&C brides will need to go to the new Resort and Villa section to post your rating of Beaches I love this new feature!! It's more like trip advisor so you can rate things that are more resort related instead of wedding related. I think this will help a lot of brides when trying to select a resort. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/beaches-turks-caicos-resort-villages-spa
  14. Everything looks fantastic! Congrats on the successful conversion!! Just as an fyi, I was trying to access one of the albums in the image gallery and all I could see was X's. Not sure if that's an issue with my computer or a site issue. Just thought I'd let you know.
