  1. You know....if you've never been to dreams, my description was probably pretty bad!! Try this: Beach location 1: near a resteraunt and the dolphin pool. The area is at the end of a walkway and fairly open... a few palm trees for decor and light from the resteraunt Beach location 2: Near the trampolene. Again, a few trees. No resteraunt near by, so probably a more quiet option. Dolphin pool: pool with dolphin statue on the one side, some colums and the beach on the other side. The area that they set up is out of the normal path of foot traffic so will be pretty private. There is a resteraunt about 20-30 feet away though. Adult pool: long recatangle pool. No resteraunt really close. You can see a bar, but the recption will be set up as far away from that as possible. The beach will be on the other side. For a large party, you could set up tables all the way around. Again, foot traffic should not be going through. Ball Room: Indoor option. The furthest building from the beach. The rooms are sqaure. One had a stage, one had mirrors on all of the walls. Looks like a typical hotel convention room set up. Lots of opprtunity to decorate though! If you want to avoid bugs, wind and sand...this may be a good option. I believe these are the main areas. Again, you can have a table in one of the resteraunts as well, but other resort guests will also be using the resteraunt.
  2. I was there in October and was given a tour. For dinner, you can do: the beach (2 different locations), next to the dolphin pool, next to the adult pool, a table next to one of the bars (not a good location!), or, for a small party..you can do a table in any of the resteraunts (this won't be private though). When you get to the resort, a cordinator will show you all of these options. There are other options for the cocktail hour: the lobby terrace, the beach, the chapel courtyard.... all of which are very nice. Is there something in particular you are looking for?
  3. My fiance was floored that the resort wouldn't ask kids to get out of the pool during dinner receptions.... He imagines us sitting down to dinner and being blind sided by a giant splash!!! The kids did stay at the other end of the pool and were behaving.... so as long as that is the story at my reception, I'm sure I can deal!! Both pools are lit with changing color lights which are pretty... so that will help the ambiance for you.
  4. Just a thought... when I was at Dreams in October, there was a reception set up at the dolphin pool. This is the same pool that allows kids and there were kids playing in the pool during the dinner...may hamper floating candles!! I asked a cordinator about the pool rules and we were told that they would not require kids to get out of the pool at any certain time. If you want floating candles, I would think the adult pool would work better.

It's good to know that if the airlines are being "difficult" then Dreams wills help fix it!!
  6. If the airline won't allow me to hang my dress in a closet and I end up having to fold it up and put in in a suitcase....how good is the resort at steaming out the wrinkles? Any problems?
  7. Center piece prices I was quoted: $90 for any center piece that includes the green vase $80 for any piece that does not include the vase I was also told that Mexican taxes have gone from 10% to 11%... so keep that in mind as well.
  8. I think I figured out how to display the center piece photos emailed to me by Natalia. There are 3 slides, 12 photos total: #1:
  9. I emailed Natalia today to ask if there are picture options for different center pieces. She emailed me with a power point presentation that has some cool options. I haven't been able to upload the pics to this forum but if someone knows how, I can email the presentation.
  10. Your wedding looked amazing!! I love the carriage and your cake! You looked amazing in the dress! Congrats!
  11. Congrats!! My fiance proposed at Secrets Maroma....its a beautiful resort! We plan to honeymoon there after our Dreams wedding. Have fun planning!!
  12. Great review. I am really looking forward to your pics!! You mentioned that you tipped Natalia and the servers...did you also tip the minister? Thanks.
  13. The flowers turned out great! I love the mix of color you went with!!

As for plans...the ceremony is at 4pm on the beach, cocktail hour after that at a bar or lobby terrace while we finish up pictures, then reception on the beach. I am e-mailing off site photographers right now and hopefully deciding soon. Have my dress, just bought a necklace....and that's about it. My finace and I are heading to Vancouver (bigger city with more stores/choices) to get his ring, suit, my shoes, etc... Hopefully will have lots done before Christmas! I am in a hurry because I am finishing up my last bit of school in the new year. Sounds like you are about as far along as I am. We are ring shopping after the new year.... along with invites, shoes, table decor and such. My wedding is a 5pm one... we hope to have the cocktail hour at the lobby terrace and reception at one of the pools. I am using a resort photographer...we sat down with one in October and looked through an hours worth of their material and thought they did a really nice job. Right now, the debate is... do we have some photos done before the ceremony to take advantage of the lighting and beautiful colors on the resort. I have mixed feelings on this! I have heard great things about the Valentin... it should be a great resort to honeymoon at. I've heard it is pretty luxurious. I'd love to try it sometime myself!

Congrats!! have you made any decisions on your plans yet? Which resort are you hinymooning at? We're going to Secrets Maroma after our wedding (it's where the fiance proposed!)
  17. Thank you for the review! The pics are great. Question - You had the ocean front room... we are booked for that as well. Our concern is that they seem as though there would be a lot of noise from the Seaside Grill / pool as they are so close. What did you think? Thanks!!!
  18. Aliceo - I think that the evening time slot is scheduled with sunset in mind. You should have enough day light for the wedding and some photos afterwards before it gets dark.
  19. Gorgeous dress!! When I walked into the bridal shop, my dress was on a display and I knew right away too!! Congrats!!!!
