BagLover...I see you are having the BBQ deluxe. I was wondering if you know how the dinner is served (buffet, served). Also I am having our welcome dinner/rehearsal at the restaurant and I was wondering how you are decorating the tables for your dinner there
Is anyone having the BBQ deluxe for the reception? I am thinking of having it on the beach but I'm not sure if it is good or if having my dinner on the beach is too risky. Please any thoughts
Hi,
We are getting married there in July 2010. I am having my uncle photograph our wedding with no problem so I'm sure it will not be for you. I figure if my uncle is staying on the resort for a few days what do they care. We are doing the free dinner as our reception with the mexican cocktail party before dinner and a private dessert party after. This way we still have some private functions. I think with everything we are paying 6k but this includes all the extras, 2 private functions etc. What are you thinking in terms of reception?
Lauren
We are doing "welcome bags" with a bunch of gifts so I'm not doing "favors" at the wedding. However, I do have maracas for guests at the cocktail party that I will have monogrammed, and I am doing mini mexican tiles for escort cards that they could take home
Lauren
Great! Thanks for that info! I'm having some difficulty with the open bar list. They are telling me that it is only international open bar not the premium open bar that we will have access to. I feel that this isn't fair....but I may have not other option but to upgrade some and pay for grey goose, captain morgans, and tangueray. I can't see how I can serve bottom shelf Did you look into this at all?
Thanks!
Lauren
I'm also not "dressing" the chairs. I'm going to ask that a few be brought over for our cocktail party for older guests to have a seat...they should have no problem bringing some over since I already paid for them right?
Hola!
I am having difficulty with the day of the wedding schedule. If anyone could share what their times are that would help so much! I know things take longer with a large group. This is what I have so far...but I have a hard time thinking dinner will take 1.5 hours and my ceremony will only be 30mins since I am doing a sand ceremony and throwing seashells as wishes after the ceremony is done.
ceremony-5:30-6
mexican cocktail party -6:00-7:30
dinner at el cocotal (no dessert)-7:30-9
sweet party/dancing-9-11
please help Thanks! Lauren
Hi Cara!
I am also a July 2010 bride! When is your date? Our date is July 16th. I know that I am bringing one of my guests that will be taking our photos. I don't think this will be a problem. Are you planning a private reception or using the free dinner?
Lauren
Hi Girls,
For those of you who had the Mexican Donkey Cocktail Party by Tucanes, how many appetizers did you pick from the menu? Carolina is telling me I picked way too many and is hinting that I don't need to do my free dinner at El Cocotal the same night. I just can't see how that is possible. Anyone who has had the cocktail party and then went to dinner at El Cocotal....could you please help me make sense of this! Thank you!
Hi ladies!
Does anyone have any reccomendations on what to chose as the dinner choices for the free dinner at El Cocotal? I have 3 in mind but if anyone who has had their wedding there could share what was good that would help alot!
Also, ifyou have had the mexican donkey bar standing cocktail party what appetizers did you order? Was it enough food for everyone? Any info would be great.
I'm also having the sweet cocktail party after the free dinner. Anyone have any comments on how this worked out?
Thank you for any help!
Lauren
Thanks Jamie! I actually talked to Carolina and she said I could add any flowers I wanted! I sent her a picture and she sent it to the florist.
Thanks!
Lauren
Has anyone picked their flowers from the Lomas site yet? I am not finding any that I love...does anyone know if they will work with you on the type of flowers I want? Any help would be great!! Our wedding is July 16th 2010 and we are so excited!!
Thanks,
Lauren
The planning is going really well! They are very accommodating and truly can make anything you want happen. I'm planning a private cocktail party before the free dinner and I wanted to add a bunch of appetizers not on their menu and they are very flexible. They also will be making a signature drink display as per my request with no extra cost since I will be having an international open bar. The hotel works with Lomas Travel which assists in all of the wedding extras. They have a website with all of the extras.
I haven't been to the resort but every time I talk to someone about where we will be having our wedding they have been there or friends of theirs went there and loved it! It's actually very strange that I have had so many personal recomendations from people I know.
Lauren
If anyone has had a private cocktail party at El dorado Royale and remembers what the international open bar included I would love to know! I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. What brands of alcohol did they serve and which beers? Also were there enough appetizers for the entire 2 hours? I am going to be getting at least 10 different types but I was told that if you buy 10 per person then that is pretty much as many as they get. This doesn't seem right. Please any help would be great!
PS. If you hired any live music (steel band or others) was it worth it?
Thanks,
Lauren
Hi Kena,
I am having my wedding at El dorado Royale. They are the same resort the Casita section is just referring to the casita rooms on one side of the resort. They have the same restaurants, beach, pools, etc. Hope that helps!
Lauren
Great review! How long did you book your photographer for? I have no idea how to judge how long I will need. Also what time was your ceremony? Thanks!!!
