  3. I'm so sorry that you had such a terrible experience but I have to say that I did not go through this at all. It must have been your resort, I got married at Dreams Palm Beach and I had the best service before getting there and while I was there. They too have 1-2 weddings a day but I was treated like it was only me. I sent emails and received replies either the same day or the next never longer than 24 hours and everything I asked for was ready for me when I arrived. Again, I'm sorry you had a bad experience but as long as the wedding was great that's what matters.

    Hello:)

Hi and welcome - we have many beautiful beaches in Florida I'm sure you will find a great location.

No decorations - you will have to pay for all of the add ons, I was going to do an arch originally but it's like $300. The chair covers are included but no color sashes that's an add on too.

I am expecting 35-45 people and was going to get a dinner package? Would you know what restauarants or where they can hold groups this size or should I consider not and saving money on the dinner package? I would like a dance. Thanks so much and once again congrats. My ceremony was at 5pm - I booked the photographer from 4-8pm but only used him till about 7:30 I was tired of taking pictures already. I did not do a reception/dance instead we did a cocktail hour right after the ceremony on the beach for the guest while we took pictures. Afterwards we had dinner at the World Cafe (none of the restaurants will be able to accomodate a group your size). You will either have to book a banquet room or do it for free at the World Cafe. However, if you really want a dance you should book the banquet room.
  7. Sorry that it has taken me so long to post the review - I have been so busy at work and home that it's been tough. But finally here it is.... Arrival – The ride from the airport to the hotel was only approx 15 minutes. Check in As soon as we got off the shuttle, upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted with mimosas and cold washcloths. Considering the heat we were very grateful for both of these. We were escorted to the front desk for check in where Angel so graciously briefed us on the hotel and all of the amenities, without even having to ask we were upgraded to a honeymoon suite …Yaaayyyy for us! The room We arrived in our room which was absolutely awesome and it was right next to the main pool, we had a garden view which was fine with us because we were facing the back of the building and did not have to hear any noise from the pool area. The only issues with our room was that we could not get the air conditioning to cool down the room to our liking and the refrigerator in the room also was not cooling enough. We did call maintenance the next day and they came in fixed the A/C and switched out our refrigerator. No more issues after that! Wedding Coordinator The day that we arrived we met with Yeisy, the wedding coordinator. I have to say that although I did start my planning process with Melani and she too was great, Yeisy was amazing!!!! From the point where she started working at the resort and took on my wedding she was on top of things. Anytime I emailed her she emailed me back the very same day. I sat with her for about 45 minutes to go over the details of the wedding and basically everything I wanted was done without any questions. She even told me what extras not to spend money on because it was not worth it. She took care of making my appts at the spa for my hair and make-up, and ensured that my hubby got a separate room the night before the wedding. This girl is very detailed, hard working, and most of all very sweet. If you have the luck of getting her as your WC you will have an amazing wedding!!!!! Make sure to tip them afterwards, these girls work so hard day and night to make sure that you have the wedding of your dreams. The Spa I went in for my hair and make-up appt the day of the wedding and was so relaxed just by walking into the spa, the aroma therapy alone did it. The young lady who did my hair (sorry can’t remember her name) did a phenemonal job. I had a picture of what I wanted and she did exactly that. Now, unfortunately for me the girl who does the make-up was off so my hair girl did my make-up. She was going to attempt to put on some pretty funky colors on me but thank God that I had my own make up with me. She didn’t do a bad job by any means but just not what I’m used to, it was a little too intense for me. I didn’t want to make her feel bad so just smiled and said thank you. Once back in my room I took the tissues and just rubbed some of it off and it was perfect. I would recommend you bring a picture and your own make-up. The Ceremony: What can I say here….. AMAZING…..A DREAM……..everything was perfect. I had a beach wedding near the Seaside Grill. The weather that day was perfect not too hot, not too sunny, just perfect. The person who introduced hubby and I is a dear friend and we asked her to perform the ceremony and marry us. After the ceremony, we set up a cocktail hour on the beach for the guest while hubby and I went off to take some pictures. The theme of the wedding was Damask print with tiffany blue, the Italian restaurant has Damask seating so we asked Yeisy to arrange for us to take pictures there. The restaurant opened for us so that we could do so. I love the pics, I could not have planned it better if I tried. After taking the pics at the restaurant we returned to the beach and took pictures with our guests, did our champagne toast , took our cutting of the cake pictures, some beach shots and then off to dinner. Dinner We did not do a private dinner/reception as we had 45 people at the wedding. Instead Yeisy reserved an area for us at the World Café. We ended up with our own waiters, private area and they even decorated the tables. The cake was brought to the restaurant from the wedding site and after dinner we cut the cake, which was delicious - everyone had a piece. Dinner although buffet was delicious, they had seafood, steaks, chicken, whatever the guests wanted. No regrets on having the dinner at the buffet restaurant. After dinner party After dinner we all went back to our rooms to change and freshen up. When hubby and I got back to our room we had a surprise waiting for us. I won’t ruin this for future brides just know that it was awesome!  We met all of our guests back at the disco around 10ish and partied our butts off. Since I had so many guests it seemed like our own private reception party. The resort’s entertainment team was great, they got to know us all and partied with everyone. The resort You will not be disappointed the pictures you see online is exactly what you will see when you get there, the pool, the restaurants, everything is just as you see it. The entertainment team especially, Julio and Gasolina are the best. They make sure to keep you smiling and active. Hubby made new BFF’s while there (he’s now Facebook friends with them). Our group was between the ages of 2-68 and there was something for everyone. The kids had a blast, our parents want to go back, and the single group loved the pool bar. The restaurants I was able to try all of the restaurants and I have to say that my favorite was the Seaside Grill. The food was delicious and being next to the ocean gave it a nice ambiance. I liked all of the other restaurants as well, did not have one bad meal. Oh another of my favorites was the Coco Café, they serve coffees and pastries which were an excellent little snack in between. I gained 6 pounds from all of the eating while there. Oh well it was worth it. Excursions Don’t let the guys by the pool fool you by telling you that the horse back riding or dune buggy excursions take 20 minutes to get there. We decided to go horseback riding and it took 45 minutes to get to the place. The horseback riding itself was about 2 hours which was awesome with the exception that the horses looked a little mal-nutritioned. But then to get back in a car for another 45 minutes sucked! If you have 4 hours to spare than it’s cool but if not don’t bother. Spa Hubby and I did a couples massage in the Spa and it was very good. If you like massages go for it, it is well worth it. Make sure to go to at least one of the shows that the entertainment team puts on every night. They are hilarious and something different to do. BTW – I used HDC photography which took amazing pics and were very reasonably priced. If you chose to use Tropical Pictures (the resorts photographer) I would recommend them as well I saw some of their pictures and they do very good work, it’s just more expensive. I think this is it, if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
  8. Sorry to hear that. You will still have an amazing wedding I'm sure.

The door hangers were ordered on 123Print: Business Cards $3.95, Invitations, Return Address Labels, Banners super inexpensive....

Mish Mish: I actually ordered the logos online at I Do Originals they have logos that you can personalize. 3 for $10 or 5 for $15. I did add the palm tree to the logo on Publisher. I just found a palm tree online and copied it. Good luck!
  12. Damaris: I was having the same issue with some people telling me they were going to come with 3-4 friends and so forth. I was very straight forward and told them that I wanted a destination wedding so that I could have my family and CLOSEST friends there and that I was sorry but I did not feel comfortable with people at the ceremony and dinner that weren't either one of these. They understood. Oh and by the way we also got about 10 people who RSVP that they were coming and at the end never came.
  13. You wouldn't know they were not professional. You did a great job!

We went from Majestic Elegance to Dreams Punta Cana to Dreams Palm Beach. Im starting to pull out my hair!!! Im leaning towards Dreams Palm Beach. We plan on getting married July 2011 but no date is set yet. Can anyone help me with there experience with this hotel? I just got back from Dreams Palm Beach Sunday and have to tell you it was truly amazing! I have no complaints whatsever, even FI said the same thing. Both Melani and Yeisy the wedding coordinators are great, they will do anything you want and will get you anything you need. I highly recommend it! I will be posting a review with pics soon. Good luck planning.
  15. So instead of a guest book that will be stored away somewhere I decided that something for my scrapbook would be better. The photographer who took our engagement pics was able to make for us some scrapbook pages for our guests to leave wishes on. I love how these came out.. Boudoir – a few of my fav shots. The book I made him with the pics and the cold feet socks. I will have his brother hand him the socks with a card, then after he’s done reading the label on the socks his brother will hand him another card with the book which will read – In case the socks didn’t help hopefully this will get your feet HOT! I think that is it ladies, once again thank you for the ideas and help, this is by far the best wedding forum. I look fwd to posting a review upon my return.
  16. Mint matchbooks, I decided to make some with our logos and the others in damask so that they will contrast on the tables along with some tropical flavored gum that I put into little organza bags from Michaels. Our OOT bags printed with our logo minus our names so that our guests can use them over and over again. Got the medium size drawstring bags from Oriental Trader they were very inexpensive and are unisex which is perfect!! We got the bags and the towels printed by a local company at home. We will put the luggage tags on the bags so we know who each bag is for and hand out at the meet and greet cocktail the evening before the wedding which is when most guest will arrive. I will include these damask journals and pens in the OOT bags for the ladies. I personalized each one with their first name initial. These were found at Michael’s a while back in their dollar bins. I saw these flutes back in October while out with a co-worker and fell in love with them! I really wanted them but FI and I thought that $390 for flutes was a little too much! Well, Friday my co-workers threw a little bridal shower for me and to my surprise this was one of my gifts!!!! MY co-workers ROCK!!!!!!!! The pictures do them no justice they are absolutely divine! The stems are filled with Swarovski crystals. I have already decided that these will be used when each of our 3 daughters get married. Start a tradition.... sorry still more to come.
  17. Oh Sh#t kits - bought the ziplock bags at Walmart in the craft section, created the labels using Avery mailing labels #8164 and added the meds. Cold feet socks - I saw these for sale on some site for about $15.00 and thought this was easy enough to make myself. Just purchased a pair of socks, and printed out the wraparound label on cardstock. I cut out the UPC code and materials info from the original label and glued it on the back. I made my vow cards using my cricut and cuttlebug (oh how I love them)! BTW these are not one of our vows just a sample. I was hoping to buy a used Thank you parasol but none came available so I opted for the thank you signs instead, made these on my cricut as well. Activity books for the kids that will be joining us, these will be added to the OOT bags with beach ball, water guns, and crayons for them. one more to go
  18. Here are the weekend survival kits that I put together to include in our OOT bags. They include; hand sanitizer sunscreen chap stick body butter I used white card stock and sandwich size ziplock bags.... It was pretty easy and quick to do. Bridesmaids (our daughters) flip flops that they will wear for the ceremony. I used black & white damask ribbon (purchased at JoAnne Fabrics) and accented with the tiffany blue thinner ribbon and charm (both purchased at Michael's). The flip flops were purchased at Old Navy. I really loved this bouquet that I saw on Etsy but just could not see myself paying $115 for fake flowers. I decided to attempt on making it myself and I have to say I am really happy with the outcome. I ordered a bouquet that was already made from save-on-crafts.com from $18.99, ordered 5 black ostrich feathers from them as well for $19.95, and the damask ribbon from etsy seller bowpeepbows for $5.00. I already had the tiffany blue ribbon that I had purchased at Michael's. I removed all of the leaves, little flowers, and the rhinestone springs from the bouquet and started adding the feathers. I then took the damask ribbon and just wrapped it around the ribbon that was already there and added the tiffany blue ribbon. Final touches - used the rhinestones that I had taken off and just added a few to some of the roses and to the tiffany blue ribbon. It took me a little over an hour to get it just the way I wanted it! And I saved $72.00 Tears of joy - I made these completely from scratch thanks to my cricut and cuttlebug. The envelope was cut from cardstock paper, put through the cuttlebug for embossing; monogram cut from cricut and then added the rest. (By the way I am soon starting an Etsy store to sell TOJ – totally customizable, I have already made some for some BDWB) Wedding bubbles - bought these at the dollar store 9 for $1.00, created the damask labels to wrap around the bottle, used my cricut to cut the tags, cuttlebugged the tiffany blue and wrapped it around with the ribbon. Key and Tip holders - bought the badge holders from Office Depot they were 12 for $5.49, the lanyards were purchased from Pouch-n-Coil 25 for $9.95. I used Staples matte white business cards and then glued them to the black cardstock. still more...
  19. I couldn't find a pair of Tiffany blue shoes that I liked, so I decided to purchase a pair in white and have them dyed. I LOVE THEM!!!!!! FI outfit from Havana nine – he looks so handsome in it. Started on my DIY projects; Photo Share cards - from 123Print - $11.95 for 100 double sided (the other side is in Spanish). Door hangers - also from 123Print - $14.95 for 50. Luggage Tags - I used Staples matte white double sided business cards. The laminating pouch was purchased from Pouch-n-coil for $4.95 for 100, the loops also from Pouch-n-coil $5.95 for 100 and found the laminating machine at BJ's for only $29.95. I decided to not use damask border for the guys, don't think they would like that hanging on their luggage. White Fans and charm from Michael's and the ribbon from JoAnne Fabrics. Chap stick with our logo - used Office Depot glossy full sheet sticker paper. I had to cut each one individually but I think it was worth the work. still more
  20. This was to be sent out before I left but the computer crashed as I was working on it and I didn't have time to post prior to leaving so now that I'm back here it is. Wow – I can’t believe it’s time for me to head out for my wedding. Flight tomorrow morning to Punta Cana, we are so excited. It’s 2am and I couldn’t go to bed thinking that I had to post this before I left. After reading so many planning threads and having the support and help from so many of you I knew when it was my time I would do the same. So firstly, thank you to all the wonderful ladies on this forum that inspire. How FI proposed. I woke up the morning of June 11th, 2009 at the sound of my alarm as I do every weekday. As I was stretching in bed I felt something on my finger, I thought that was odd as I always take off my jewelry before going to bed. I looked down at my finger and saw a beautiful Birks princess cut diamond engagement ring, I immediately turned around to look for Darrin who was standing in the doorway waiting for my reaction. I ran up to him and gave him a big kiss and just said "Babe?". Darrin told me that his dad had proposed to his mom this way and if they have been together this long then it should be good luck and work for us too! My ring. The planning starts immediately as we knew we did not want a long engagement, thanks to this forum I was able to research and find a destination. We chose Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana and then were ready to send out our STD which I got from Vista print. STD cards. My DIY invites from Michaels which I added some little personal touches to. Bridal party attire. Saw these dresses back in July at White House Black Market but didn't want to pay $198 for each since I have to buy 3. Our 3 daughters will be our bridesmaids. While I was on vacation in Sept and doing some shopping at an outlet mall I walked in to White House Black Market to look around - I couldn't have been luckier they had the dress for $29.99 and had all three sizes that I needed. I guess it was meant to be...... I am so happy and our daughters look so cute in them. Instead of flowers they will be carrying these parasols. My nephew will be walking down the sand with our rings and I was able to find the perfect attire for my little man. I found this damask boys tie on Etsy. He will wear it with this casual white linen Guayabera and some black linen capri pants. When I went to order the ring bearer pillow another seller from Etsy was able to match the same fabric of the tie. I love it!!!! Wedding Dress Found it on my first day out.... My sister, BFF and I went out in September to start our hunt for the dress. Since I'm getting married on the beach I really had my mind set on a simple gown with not too much fluff. I had a picture in my mind of a strapless dress that would be very flowy. Well, I did try on a few of those and hated how they looked on me. My sister picked out a few gowns in different styles and just asked me to try them on to see how the fit would be. I walked out in this gown and she immediately said - "this is the one - this is so you" when I looked at myself in the mirror I just started to cry - she was right this gown was truly representative of me. I love it and can't wait for FH to see me in it! more to come
  21. I just returned yesterday from Punta Cana our wedding was May 1st - the weather the whole time we were there was amazing. There were a few days that it rained for a few minutes during the day but it was just showers that stopped quickly. Happy planning.
