  1. Congrats Ashley!!!!!! Melbeern: I too, started looking at this reviews from Tripadvisor, but honestly, no matter what resort you look at you are going to see complaints from people so you have to trust your insitinct and go with what you feel.

  4. Hey Melissa: My name is Misty and I agree 100% with Nat, you will not need an outside WC, especially Luxe! I called them and they quoted me like $1500 to just help me pick out a resort and reserve rooms...booo!!! Any travel agent can do that, and since you have already picked DPC, you will be just fine working with any of the coordinators there. I noticed that you said you are planning for Spring 2010, I would encourage you to go ahead and reserve your date if you haven't so far to make sure it is still available. My sister just finished my save the dates (that was one of my Christmas gifts!!) and we used vistaprint to do the printing, but we are doing everything else ourselves.

  8. I am also getting married on 8.9.10 at Dreams Resort & Spa in Punta Cana, DR. It seems like time is flying by, so far I have booked the resort, booked the photographer, created website, put the deposit down on my dress, and I am mailing out the Save the Date next week. I will make sure I post them on here since I know they are going to be really cute. I am still struggling with favor ideas and deciding on doing OOT bags. Things are adding up quite a bit so we'll see what happens. If anyone has cute favor ideas please pass them along and I will do the same. Congrads to all the August 2010 brides!

  13. I'm starting to feel better after reading you guys responsing. I am drafting my own email up for her as we speak. I needed a couple of days to get my numbers together from this new pdf file against my original budget. I am determined to pull this off! Thanks ladies and I will send any updates I get from any of the WC's as well!
  14. Yeah I am still not clear on this because the Ulitmate Package only covers up to 20 guests, so does this mean you have to pay the 15 setup fee for every chair after 20?
  15. Yeah, I picked the Ultimate Package to avoid all these necessary charges, so that's why I am so upset. I am flying my own photographer out there and don't even need there damn 50 pictures that come with package, I just needed the dinner and cocktail hour covered! Ugh, I am going relax before I ruin everyone's day around me, because that's just how mad I get. I tend to get to a point where the next person that pisses me off gets the outburst really meant for the person that initiated the emotion, where in this case is DREAMS, and I can't curse in spanish but I might as well sit here and learn how too!!
  16. The music/dancing is kind of a big deal to me. I wanted to have my first dance with my husband on the terrace for my guests to see, as well as my dance with my dad. I am not going to be able to have those moments at a disco. We all plan on going to the disco too but it's just those other moments that mean alot to me. What is the point of having a audio equipment rental if you can play music? What the point of being able to rent a video screen if there is nothing to hear on it, that's where I am confused. I guess I'll just wait and see what the outcome is. I picked a package so I am hoping the $15 dollar setup fee per guest doesn't apply. I can deal with the 3 hour limitation I guess
  17. I am waiting to hear back from DPC but I seriously upset. To be honest, it makes me not even want to give them my business. I have read the horror stories of secret fees being added on to your final bill when you check out so right now, even them telling me over email that I am safe makes me feel like I can't trust them. I am at a lost right now. Me and the FH have discussed possibly having our wedding somewhere else like Toya or even considering having it here now. Guess only time will tell!
  18. I agree with all of you and I hope this doesn't apply to us. I put my deposit down based on what was told to me from the WC and from what was advertised on the website and it wasn't this setup fee shit and this restriction on time and no music bull! Sorry I'm pissed right now, but I'm glad I decided to take a look for updates...just never expected this
  19. That's why I think it might be beneficial to use either the Love or Ultimate package, that way that stuff is covered. They can't say that the setup fee is not included in the package deal because that is not listed in there little fine print at the bottom of their restrictions/exclusions! I just need to have my co-worker call there bc I can't speak a lick of spanish bc this email crap is taking to long!
  20. Yeah Toya: I highly advise that you check into this since the count for your number is so high. Especially since it looks like if you want to do the buffet style, you will end up having your reception inside the World Cafe'. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like from my perspective.
