I was thinking I could get away with it if I make it generic (like have "Passport to Paradise") on the cover. I also wouldn't get carried away with putting more logistics on the inside other than the invite (like info on the country, etc). Anyway, with that said what do you think? I say go for it!!!! The ones in JA will understand since you live a "foreign" LOL
  2. Does anyone have a suggestion for a DJ in PR that plays reggae and/or dancehall Thanks!

We are Jamaican but not getting married in JA. Hopefully we will be able to find a good DJ in PR.

  9. Okay so I've decided to forego floral centerpieces and am going for candles plenty of candles and flickering lights... Here are my thoughts...for the cocktail hour I'm thinking of using white Moroccan lanterns and votives in the space...then possibly move the lanterns into the lounge area. For the reception I'm thinking plently of candelabras and crystals for an even more romantic feel... How does that sound?? Am I trying to do too much...the venue is huge and I would like to keep the guest is awe as they travel from one location to the next. Thanks for allowing me to vent. Any suggestions and/or comments are welcome...
  10. Here's my inspiration for my DIY table runners... Table Runner Inspiration.doc

  14. What are you ladies doing to decorate the venue bathrooms This was a suggestion I read on a Wedding Planner's website...she mentioned decorating the bathroom and bar. Any suggestions

It is a very heavy cake, but alot of people like it. It is not like American fruit cake it is dark and sometimes referred to as "Black" cake. It is an acquired taste. The resort wont substitute the fruit cake for a "regular" or yellow cake? Hope this helps. My family is from Jamaica and I couldn't have described it better myself. JenninJamaica if you are visiting the resort prior to your wedding ask them for a sample. Or if there is a Jamaican restaurant in your area they will most likely sell "black cake" as a dessert.
  16. I would say it depends on the type of fun you are looking for. In Jamaica you can find parties that go until sunrise and in the Bahamas they aren't as "wild" in JA. My family is from JA and IMO, JA is the true party island, you can party in Bahamas also but I go there when I want to relax more than party.
  17. Milly Centeno is my official wedding planner!!! Yay!
  18. My venue is very lush and full of beautiful flowers so I want to focus on making my reception very romantic by using candelabras and votives...I want candles everywhere. Has anyone done or seen this before??

Last night after a long picture and video cam meeting with the wedding coordinator, decorators and FI we were asked about the rehearsal dinner. Being that this a half destination wedding(aka FI is from NY and am from PR) half of the people participating in the wedding would be in PR for the rehearsal dinner and half of the people would not. About a week ago we found out that my soon to be MIL and FIL would come with 2 other guests to PR a week before the wedding as to make a vacation stay out of it but that everyone else, including the best man would be able to come Friday night and would have to leave on the red eye Monday morning. Yesterday i mentioned to the WC that we were planning to do a dinner the night before the wedding as a mingle before "the day!" (LoL her face was priceless).. Since our wedding is on a Sunday @2pm after much debate last night we decided against doing a dinner and well wondered if it would be wrong to do some sort of "welcome lunch or even brunch" on Saturday? At this point we really don't know what to do or even what would be deemed appropriate in a DW... Thanks for all the input in advance We are still debating about a rehearsal dinner...I would prefer to do a "cocktail hour" or two with heavy hors d'ouerves and a specialty drink to loosen eveyone up the day before the wedding... But I say if you want to do then do it. Don't let the WC rain on your parade. Its sounds like she doesn't want to do anymore work.
  20. Where are you?!?!?!?!? I'm here...July 16, 2011.... Where's everyone else? Post your dates....your wedding day will be here before you know it!
  21. The most inexpensive yellow and white flowers I can think of are carnations...hope this helps.
  22. I'm now a 2011 bride...July 16, 2011...so where are the other 2011s I know you're out there... Post your date!
  23. Thanks for all the advice ladies. I've found a place that IMO is more beautiful than El Convento. We are now in the process of booking our venue.
