  1. yikes! they are a piece of work, huh! Don't think of calling off the wedding -- that would be a victory for his parent. That's what they want! If you and your FI love each other (and obvioiusly you do), then you will be able to make it work. After the wedding is there any option for you guys to move away from his parents??
  2. This guy wants it both ways!! He didn't have a contract and he's holding you to "word of mouth" regarding the 8 people.. yet it means nothing to him that he did not disclose the extra costs until after you paid your deposit! How did you pay your deposit? If by chance you did it by paypal I would open up a SNAD dispute (significantly not as described) -- it seems as though he added on fee after fee AFTER your deposit and that is not okay. You paid the $1300 deposit with an understanding that the total would be x dollars and he changed it after the fact. There are laws to protect you from this, contract or not. He can't advertise one thing and then charge you another. If you paid by check you would definitely need to do the small claims route should you choose to contest it. I think maybe you should have a heart to heart with him and explain that you were going by the information on the website (take a screen capture of it before he changes it) and the website did not mention the fee for every person beyond 2 people. Best of luck!

Maybe check directly with the Barcelo to be sure though..
  5. I just visited her etsy store and website and they are amazing!! thank you for posting, I will be getting one of these for sure! One question - how on earth did you decide?? there are so many options!
  6. nordstrom and lane bryant sell them as well target sells their own brand "assets" or something..
  7. I think it's a good idea but perhaps a few hours at the bar, some people might get too drunk?
  8. FI and I stayed at the blue bay esmeralda in July 2008 and here's a mini -review if anyone 's interested - drinks - watered down, not that great. only one kind of draft beer. tips helped with the strength of the drinks. The swing bar outside of the pool was a fun place to chill. - food - so-so. I have been to other better AI's. The a la cartes were decent (we liked the Mexican one the best). Steakhouse and french were "just ok". Buffets offered a good selection. Fruit and salad items were always fresh and delicious. The buffet had a theme each night and were pretty good. The hamburgers at the grill @ the pool were inedible. - pool - -absolutely fantastic. lots of activities, we could always find chairs. Poolside drink service was sometimes very slow (we did tip each time) - rooms - The rooms were top notch. Air conditioning worked perfectly. We did have a problem where our neighbors ceiling fan remote could control ours though and we couldn't seem to change the rf channel on it. - property - spread out, very large. It was nice to walk from place to place but they had a shuttle if you didn't feel like walking. Some mosquitoes due to the grassy/wet areas but not that bad if you wore bug spray. - staff - everyone we encountered was really nice and accommodating. - beach - sad to say the beach was very disappointing. I had read on tripadvisor that the beach was not that great so I was prepared. The beach was a little rocky and there was a lot of seaweed in the water. They did comb it everyday but of course that doesn't get everything. We didn't spend much time at the beach. IMHO there are better beaches on the Mayan Riviera ... spa -- really nice - beautiful facility. All in all it's a nice resort with friendly people. The property was super clean and very beautiful.
  9. Thanks Kathy! I'm really blown away at how great this diet is working for me! I know it won't be as much weight loss per week once I get to core but the priming phase is amazing ....
  10. Thanks for the review, it sounds amazing and I'm so happy to have chosen the Barcelo.. I'm happy to hear that there won't be major changes in the menu --thank you for checking on the menu. As for pictures -- do you have a photobucket account? If so upload your pictures to photobucket. Then you can link them in here -- photobucket will give you various linking options -- use the one called IMG Code and it will be automatically formatted correctly for this board so your text will look like this when you create your posting here: [ IMG]http://photobucket/com/urldetails/whatever.jpg[/img] (when really posting pics, omit the extra space in the beginning, I had to put it in there to show the example) once you submit, the pic will be there! can't wait to see the pictures
  11. OK checking in after priming phase week 2 Pounds lost in week 2 : 5 Total pounds lost in week 1 + 2 : 13 I cannot believe it!!!

  13. another vote for #2 I do like the idea of #1 but as a few others said it is hard to read.. I don't know but could you try to 'washout' the color of the bg image on #1? if it was lighter it would probably look amazing.. great job!!
  14. My boarding pass save the dates are completed! I have to say I wouldn't even have come up with this idea if it wasn't for BDW and all the fabulous crafty members who I "borrowed" ideas from. Thank you !!! My STD Cards Each boarding pass is made up of 5 sheets of paper, tied it together with a decorative ribbon, and put it in a ticket jacket that has our logo and a save the date magnet. I tied it all together with a raffia ribbon and a thin silky ribbon. I then stuffed them in big white envelopes. They are ready to go!! The project really was easy but very time consuming. I have my MOH to thank for helping with all the cutting (and there was a LOT) as well as my FI who helped me with printing, scoring, folding the ticket jackets as well as the final assembly. Here are the pictures: Boarding passes (5 different pages) Ticket Jacket , Magnet, & Logo Final Product! 15. are your FI's parents contributing financially to the cost of the photographer or the dress? If not, politely tell them, "I realize you may find it foolish or a waste of money, but [FI name] and I have decided that we are going to do this. It's our wedding and this is special to us. " If they are contributing, it's time to have a different kind of chat -- Thank them for their financial contributions but politely explain that the fact that they gave you money for the wedding does not mean that they get to make any of the wedding decisions. Of course say it all with a smile, and follow it with, "I know you guys understand, right?"
  16. Your pictures are amazing and I love your shutterfly album -- how long did it take you to create it?
  17. Well it is Mexico so your guests will probably expect it to be hot.... I would put somewhere on your website or in your information to your guests to dress appropriately for an outside reception.. Also maybe provide hand held fans for your guests?

It's not that hard.. the first week takes some getting used to -- the lack of carbs and the planning and preparation of meals.. but if you stick with this for 2.5 months you'll probably need to have your dress taken in
