2010 Punta Cana brides from NY or NJ??
bearbunny replied to karenk77's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
the group rate - the single rate - I went with the group and pray we book 10 rooms because the rates are waayyyyy better. anyway, I live in NY and I am using a travel agent located in IL simply because she was the only ta I worked with that went the extra mile. She contacted the resort for me, the wc, very speedy responding on email etc. If anyone is interested in using Linda her contact detail is below. Also she got me incredible rates. Between Ceremony & Reception
bearbunny replied to robinkar's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Our ceremony is at 3 and reception is at 7. We are planning on having a cocktail hour following the ceremony at 4. That gives our guests 2 hours to go back to the their rooms, grab a drink at the bar etc. Between the cocktail hour and reception we are going to finish taking our pictures and many will be included so that will kill some time. I wouldn't worry about it so much - put yourself in your guests shoes what would you do? go for a long walk on the beach, socialize with the other guests, go back to the room to freshen up etc. Either way they will be enjoying themselves afterall they are on a vacation!!! -
Our budget is 10K but think it will turn out to be more like 15K - footing the bill ourselves as many others so def not going over 15K - I hope ha ha.

I can relate - I was in the same boat! We got engaged last November and I just decided on a location about 3 months ago after a ton of research and on the brink of ripping my hair out. We settled on Casa de Campo because we want the same things as you a church wedding, gorgeous view etc. We are having a much smaller wedding then you about 20 people but you should check out the website - it is gooooorgeous, perfect, incredible place. Probably not helping you here on making a decision by adding another place to research. Best advice I can give is don't make yourself crazy - no matter where you decide to have your wedding it will be perfect!!!! Good luck and if there are any questions you have about Casa let me know.

a reception with NO DANCING????
bearbunny replied to SASSYGIRL's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
I am bring this old thread back to life ha ha. I am also not going to have dancing. We are getting married in a church - there will be a pianist there. After the ceremony we are having a trio for the cocktail hour - then we are having a dinner in a beach cabana..I plan on bringing an ipod and speakers and just having music in the background. We will dance our father/daughter, mother/son, and bride/groom - if people feel like dance go crazy - if not that is fine too...we are only have 15 people give or take. What are other doing for small weddings? -
I bought my dress at DB - but I haven't gotten to the alterations yet. My overall experience in the store was actually very good - customer service was good, dress selection was good...no complaints. I agree it is a bit of a different experience from a private bridal shop but it is great for bride on a budget. I hope it all works out for you - please keep us posted. And you should definitely take it to the next level with whoever you have to - your experience should not have been such a nightmare - I don't care how much you spend on a dress - it should be top notch service period!

I quit smoking for 2 years - here and there I would have a cig..you know socially and then suddenly after about a year of doing that I was back to smoking regularly. I smoke about 5 a day now - I use to smoke a pack a day... but I just need to start all over again and go through that horrible first few weeks. It is really hard and seems so silly that something so horrible for you would be so hard not to do! Anyway, I would like to stop effective immediately I will keep up with this thread - great idea. Wishing you all the best of luck!!!!

Hi there, I am having a Catholic wedding in a church in La Romana, DR - its called altos de chavon. The church is located on a hilltop. It was hard to find exactly what I wanted but once I saw this place I knew it was it. I am not sure about other countries I only looked in DR at an option. I copied this from an old post online when I was searching for a ceremony location - maybe it will help you: She also shares information on other Catholic churches available in La Romana and nearby areas: - Santa Rosa de Lima -located right in front of the city's main park- - San Antonio de Padua -in Buena Vista Norte, 5 minutes from the City of La Romana and approximately 15 minutes from St. Stanislaus Church in Altos de Chavòn. - There is also another colourful church in the town Bayahibe -approx. 30 minutes from La Romana, overlooking a beautiful beach. - In the city of Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic, there are various Catholic churches, many of them located in the beautiful colonial zone.

AIRFLASH by Dior - makeup
bearbunny replied to J&MWedding's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I use this product and it is the best! i only use it for special occasions because its so expensive - you def need to hold it in place with a light powder after applying esp if its hot out like any other foundation it will get moist or if you have oily skin...but it is like magic you will look flawless!!! here is a link: Sephora: Dior DiorSkin AirFlash Spray Foundation: Liquid Foundation -

I'm losing my mind
bearbunny replied to mimosa123's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Hi there - I had the same issue as you..drove myself crazy! My biggest concerns were my budget overall for the wedding and how much it would cost my guests. After months of looking at 20 different places I was ready to rip my hair out and then I realized I needed to be logical. I wrote down a list of everything I couldn't do without and then I wrote down everything I could live without. I compared the three best rated resorts - picked one and stopped looking after that because as another person posted - you have to stop comparing once you picked a place or you will go nuts! Follow your heart - any place will be what you make it -
Any Casa de Campo Brides Out There?
bearbunny replied to bearbunny's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
wow I made a million spelling errors in my post Miss Sunshyne sorry about that I assure you I can spell ha ha. You are not confusing me at all..I appreciate the info. It is a catholic church - I am catholic and went to catholic school my whole life but I have never heard of having to have your shoulders covered in church. I have been to several catholic weddings where the brides have worn strapless dresses. Yikes I am just going to ask the wc - I don't want to look like Laura Engels from Little House on the Prairie on my wedding day! -
