We booked Sascha, too! For the same reasons as you. His work is stunning and I've read a lot of reviews where the couples have really enjoyed working with him as well. I can't exactly remember how I got my FI to do a TTD. I think we just started looking at photos and realized how beautiful they are when you can actually get away from the wedding fuss and take in the beauty of the area. We figured TTD photos would be the best way to capture the beauty of the area. We decided to split our hours with Sascha so that rather than apply them all to a ceremony/reception, etc., we're doing half for the ceremony and some of the highlights of the reception (cake cutting, first dance, etc.) and then we'll cut him loose for the night. Then we'll meet up with him again for the TTD to finish out our hours.
  2. Looks beautiful! Do you know how you plan to pack all the vases? Love the idea but not sure if I can make it down without breaking all the glassware

Did you have a private reception or were you stuck in the "disco" with all the other guests? (see a pattern here :-) ) 3. Were there a TON of people sitting there in their bikinis watching you say "I do"? I have a ton more questions but those are the "Top 3", so lets stick with those for now. Thanks so much ladies and CONGRATS to all of you on your recent/upcoming weddings! Holly Hi Holly and welcome to the thread! We are doing a very similar style to the Finleys: (1) Private Dinner at the Italian Restaurant a the Del Mar/Beach, which as has been mentioned, can be rented for $800 + a per head fee. Also to note, if you upgrade your wedding package, it includes the fee. We just found this out when inquiring. (2) Same as number 1. We are renting the restaurant out to function as the reception location with the meal and music, etc. like a traditional reception. Then as that wraps up, if everyone wants to head over to the disco, we'll go, too, but we do not intend to rent it out. You can, however, rent out the disco for a per head fee. (3) Fingers crossed that is not the case, but I guess it comes with the territory. I have seen some of the video footage from other weddings and it still looks like they do their best to keep it an intimate setting, but we are not going to be naive about it either - we expect to see other vacationers there, but I trust they will respect the ceremony going on. Even though there are other more exclusive locations to have the ceremony at the Iberostar, we 100% wanted the beach, even at the risk of other vacationers watching.

And I love the little ribbon/note touch with color. Definitely adds to it. Thanks for sharing!
  5. I LOVE it! Thanks! And quite organic since you're doing it without all those extra chemical additives.
  6. Thanks for posting! I've seen the finished product on other brides' photos, but I did not know how to do it myself. I think I may actually tackle this DIY.
  7. Very cute. I've also seen some reception tables where they use drink umbrellas and attach seat assignments to them. They looked very cute and festive on the table.
  8. Very cute. I like how you say "they looked easy enough," because I looked at the ones you did and they still seem like they could take a bit of time. I guess it's all relative, right? Very nice work!
  9. They both look great! Nice work! Think I'll be using VP once again for this number. They are lifesavers when it comes to wedding details.
  10. Thanks for sharing! I know this will come in handy when I get around to doing all the little details for the ceremony & reception!

The only reason I couldn't do it this time around is that I really have no idea how many I would need. The number of invitations that are going out vs. those that may attend could be a huge difference.
  12. Does anyone know where you can find linen suits in the store at this time of year? The FI would prefer to try it on in the store than order it randomly online. You name it, we've stopped in there - Hugo Boss, Tommy Bahama, Nordstrom, Banana Republic, J Crew, JOS A Bank - and no one seems to have their selection out yet. We're hoping it comes before long b/c the clock is ticking!
  13. Great selection. Your shoes are a very nice choice, too. I think your shoes would work with my look as well - I think you have helped me decide on what I am looking for. Thanks!
  14. Congrats and welcome to the forum! We're doing an Mexico wedding as well and I assure you that you will find plenty of ideas all throughout the forum. Best of luck!
  15. Unbelievable! Thanks for the warning!
  16. Wow you've done an amazing job and you kept the theme throughout everything. Looks amazing - you will have one unforgettable V'day!
  17. Megan, I feel the same way. The hotel gives us options to select different decorations, but I do not intend to bring down much. If anything, I want things to be reused so we can limit what we have to pack. Like have the favors in cute packages to dress up the table. Reuse the bridesmaids' bouquets as centerpieces. Place the program fans on their seats to add color. Etc. Other than that, the beauty of a DW is that the destination should be your major decoration. We think the beach alone is a great scene without adding much to it.
  18. Great work. It all looks great together and I commend you for keeping your theme throughout. I feel like we made some decisions and purchased things without having it all thought out and yours looks a lot more together.
  19. Thanks for the advice. This is really something to consider b/c those fruity drinks can be enticing in the hot sun, but I would much rather hold off than have my dress not fit for the wedding.
