  1. Hey Ladies, Sorry I haven't had time to post lately but...well, I've been swamped. And it's 11:31pm and my flight to Mexico leaves tomorrow at 9 am....ahhhhh. But it's happening. Finleys, see you in a week or so! Talk to the rest of you when I get back! - Emmers

We'll be following up to see if they can do the same. I agree that it would be a tad awkward trying to orchestrate it all on your own, especially when we don't exactly know what's going on.
  3. Wow, congrats and welcome! You'll have to tell us all about it - we are planning on honeymooning in Thailand, so we will take all the recommendations you have! Happy planning!
  4. Love it all! Great job. Since I never got around to using luggage tags with the StDs, I think I'll go ahead and include them in the OOT bags. Again, great job!
  5. Oh, one more thing - are any of you having a rehearsal dinner? We were originally going back and forth about it b/c as far as we were concerned, the Italian Restaurant was the only one you could rent out and we were already doing that for the reception. Well, turns out that they can organize a large group for dinner at another restaurant. It was in the document they sent us last week. Basically we'll tell them all the folks that will be present and if we do it at an a la cart restaurant, they would just reduce that meal from the guests' allotted a la cart options. Oh, and it looks like the service is included in the package, so it's not as though you're paying per head again. We are thinking of going ahead with this and just listing it as "optional" on the wedding events sheet we include with the oot bags. We figure the guests can decide for themselves if they want to join (we assume most, if not all, will).
  6. Hi Ladies! Just popping in here after being MIA for a little while. Seems as though we're all in that mode. I thought we were pretty good at staying on top of things throughout the past couple months, but there are just a lot of loose ends that can't be tied up until the date approaches. We just received an email from Karla (wc) about a lot of last minute decisions. Until the email, we were always told that we'd make these decisions when we arrived down there, but now they want an immediate turnaround with all sorts of details - like flavor of cake, type of flowers, decorations, rehearsal dinner, etc. It's not that big of deal, just more of a surprise than anything that we suddenly have to turn this information around. C'est la vie. Less than two months! Can't believe it!
  7. We are getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach and were thinking of buying local crafts at Playa del Carmen to use as centerpieces. Does anyone know what the costs of these range? According to the internet, the two local specialties are handblown glass and red clay (earthenware) pottery. Any knowledge of the markets is appreciated!
  8. We just want to play our ipod! Does anyone know the cheapest way to do this? I've read that Iberostar requires you to get a DJ in order to have a sound system, but we do not need a good DJ (or really, any DJ at all), since we just want to let the playlist do the work.
  9. Thanks for the heads up! We'll be up in NYC in a few weeks for my FI's side's shower, so this is definitely something worth checking out if we don't do it over the phone.

Your OOT bags are definitely the model I'm using for mine. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?

Check out my photographers site at Beautiful and Affordable Photography I loved the shoot, it was so much fun and I can't wait to give this to FI on our wedding day as my gift =) Ha! Thanks! I think we're at 62 booked right now, and invitations just went out. We think 62 will be our number, but we may get a few surprises in there. Your BD photo is beautiful by the way.

The actual OOT bags I bought at Ten Thousand Villages Do you remember what size of jute bags you bought? They have so many options and I don't know how large to buy. Thanks! Again, they look AMAZING!
  13. Thanks so much for posting the formats! They look amazing!
  14. Thank you soooo much for sharing. Compared to everyone else I've seen listed on this forum, she is at least half the price!
  15. Hi! We chose Iberostar but they are both nice resorts. What took RIU out of the running for us was that they only allow you to stay 3 nights or more. For a lot of our guests, we knew that they would not be able to take alot of vacation and we wanted to give them as many options as possible. Hope that helps!

I found the recipe in a search engine but ill put it on here for anyone who might want to do this too. Mexican wedding cookies Servings: 8 What you need: 1 cup butter, 1/2 cup white sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 2 teaspoons water, 2 cups all purpose flour, 1 cup chopped almonds, and 1/2 cup confectioners sugar Directions: in a medium bowl cream the butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla and water. Add the flour and almonds, mix until blended. Cover and chill for 3 hours. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Shape dough into balls or crescents. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from pan to cool. When the cookies are cool, roll in confectioners sugar then store at room temperature in an airtight container. Great idea, thanks! We, too, love to cook/bake and that would be a great addition to the oot bags. Any idea of you will get them safely down to Mexico?
  17. Finleys, Stop booking people to your wedding!! We are trying to catch up but every time we get close, you book more! 2 months till Mexicana Air! Can't wait to see you in Mexico!!!

I was originally going down the blue & a bright color (not sure which) route and then I started checking out peacock feather looks and really liked the color combo of blue/green. I saw the Perfect Palette link somewhere else on the forum and then just started checking out the ones with a blue & green focus on the site (you can select the color on the side bar and scroll down to see different combos). If you haven't already checked it out, here you go: The Perfect Palette: Blue

So maybe 10 days in Thailand or Vietnam and 3 days in Cambodia? Trust me, 3 days in Siem Reap will be plenty. There isn't much to see or do there other than the temples, and it's exhausting climbing around the temples all day. And as Magalie said, you can fly direct from Bangkok (and very cheaply on one of the SE Asia budget carriers - I think I used Air Asia). I am biased to Thailand, so I'd recommend that for your honeymoon:) If it were my trip and I had 10 days there, I'd do 2 days in Bangkok, 3 days in Chiang Mai, and 5 days in Phuket or Koh Samui. I lived in Phuket, so again I'm biased! But also, I know that there are cheap direct flights from Chiang Mai to Phuket, so that would make travel easier. If you end up going to Phuket, or Thailand at all, feel free to contact me with any questions! I spent a year in Phuket and miss it every day:) Thanks, MexBride. We'll probably take you up on your offer and seek some advice in the future. We plan on having our honeymoon a little after the fact, maybe not until next winter to allow for a break after the Mexico wedding/vacation. Don't be surprised if we come seeking advice months from now. Good luck with your planning!

  21. Thanks for all the recommendations! Your finished products looked great!
  22. Hey, any thoughts about what the groomsmen (all 3 of em!) should wear? We ended up getting the FI the following jacket and matching pants: John W. Nordstrom® Two Button Linen Sportcoat - - Nordstrom It was a little more than we originally planned on spending (though it came with free alterations) but it's something he'll get more use out of - he won't be wearing this for the TTD! We're leaning towards going with ivory cubavera shirts and natural linen pants for the groomsmen. The FI had suggested white shirts, but my dress isn't diamond white (he hasn't seen it), so I had to step in and nix that idea. Here is what we're leaning towards: Natural - Linen Pants Linen Trousers Pants [] - $46.00 : Studiosuits.com, Custom Suits | Designer Suits Linen Rayon Blend Destination Wedding Shirt for men.: Beach Wedding Shirts | Guayaberas, Linen Pants, Boys Linen Shirts, Mexican Wedding Shirts. Let me know what you think - we have to pull the trigger sooner or later! PS - The bridesmaids will be wearing bright blue.

  24. We got my fiance's ring on Amazon for $35. We went shopping and he just liked the simple domed tungsten the best. Saw it online at Amazon and...ta da. Good too, because we only went over our budget for both of our rings by....umm...$35. Oops. Guess who was responsible for breaking the budget......
