  1. Let me know what you conclude from this Nicole8. I am looking at this resort for my wedding too, but the travel time from Punta Cana Airport is a bit of a turn off. And the fact that beach is very short and lacks sand. It's also right beside a crazy public beach from what i'm finding in my research. But the price is right from Wpg (where we'd all be travelling from) and it has the gazebo I've been looking for in that price range.

I was surprised at how expensive the Majestic is, I had initially wanted to get married there but I really didn't want people to spend that much, but it depends on your guests I suppose (my bridesmaids/groomsmen and friends are all students still and I knew they couldn't afford that much money). It is a really great resort from what I can tell, and you can't cater to everyone, so if you really want this then I would say go for it - people who really want to come will probably not let a difference of $200 stop them. I guess I am easily swayed by guilt from others, so when I found out how much it was going to be to go to my top choices in DR I decided to switch to Cuba (I don't have any really strong ties to DR, and this resort came highly recommended by several TAs) - and found a great resort which is very affordable ($1000 plus tax for the week, all inclusive). So, just shop around - are you 100% set on DR? And how many of your guests will be out if you decide to go with the Majestic or something similar? Good luck deciding, I can definitely sympathize because I have been there too. Wow! Sjmacpher, you booked one 1 wk AI for $1000? From Wpg In June 2010? That's awesome! I have been to the DR a couple of times and really loved it there. I was also thinking Cuba to save money for everyone but I'm very hesitant because I've never been there. You'll have to keep me posted on your wedding! Congrats by the way!!

We don't want our guests paying close to $2000 pp...help!!! Erin ErinS, I hope you get some good responses, because I would like to have an idea too! Though we are coming from Wpg, we will have to fly from TO since charters are done at the end of March.

  5. Calchik, congrats on the wedding! You looked beautiful. Tell me about the experience. That was one resort I sort of sat on for awhile. I know you're from Cgy, but can I ask about the pricing you got from there? I'm on a budget and so are my guests. thanks!!

Have you thought of any resorts yet, or a date? Congrats by the way!!! Hi Jenn&Kraig, No, I have no clue where to go (resorts), I feel totally lost. I know I wanted to go to Punta Cana in May and have the ceremony in a gazebo with a beach view for around $1500 from Wpg. But it seems like I'm having some real difficulties. Maybe I'm being unrealistic. At least you're decided!

Was it very busy/crowded? Did you have an problems with booking the wedding times/location? I would ideally like to use the gazebo and have an afternoon wedding. But if you're saying it's that hot....I might have to reconsider. Although, the plan is May, so maybe that's a bit better. Ugh, so many thoughts!

A big question to ask yourself right away is if you want to have a legal ceremony in the DR or a symbolic ceremony. The legal ceremony will require more planning due to translation, and the resorts securing a judge on the day that you would like. That should get your started, and just looking around here on BDW should give you a ton of information and don't be afraid to ask questions if you are confused about anything. Thanks for the advice. I must have did some things way out of order. I contacted a TA before deciding on a date or even guest list! As for budget, I really don't have one either, but know we don't want to spend more than we have to and I'm going for a free symbolic wedding. So much to think about!!
  9. Congratulations DreamsBride09! How did you find the resort? If you have pictures and more info to share with me, I would really appreciate what you are willing to share. Thanks!
  10. Thanks Shelley! I just PM'd you. Congrats on your wedding!
  11. Hi! I just got engaged last month and now planning a small wedding in Punta Cana. Have no idea where to begin but are there any fellow Canadian brides out there going to the DR or specifically Punta Cana? Anyone from Winnipeg??
  12. I'm interested in having a wedding there too. Let me know what you find out or decide.
  13. Yanettg, I went on the Outback Safari Tour last spring. It was by far the best excursion I have been on in the Dominican. They take you through a bunch of places to experience the Dominican. We went through a small Dominican town, visited a local school and home, went to a local restaurant, went boogie boarding at a private beach (so much fun) and visited a mountain/river area all while driving through the rough terrain. The guides were awesome, so much fun and very knowledgeable. We booked the excursion through vacation vendor at our resort and it was around $80 or $90 USD. But worth it compared to other excursions!! It's guaranteed a good time!
