I don't know of any other photographers that I could recommend, but I can tell you to stay clear of L&A and Leticia! I am not a nit-picky person, but I think photos that are in focus and don't have black spots on them from dirt isn't too much to ask for. Wish I could be more help, good luck on your search. BTW Looking back on it, here's what I would have done - fly in a photographer from where you're at and offer them the flight and a free all inclusive trip to PV in exchange for shooting your wedding. Honestly, if we went this route, it would have only been about $100 more and we would have had a local professional photographer that we could have had meetings with beforehand and would know exactly what we wanted. In this economy, sometimes people would love a free vacation for a few hours of work.
  2. Sorry for the late reply. I can post pictures later on once we have them compiled. Our best photos actually came from our friends. As far as specifics of VM - there are only two buildings that the resort owns, one has ocean views and the other one is behind the first building. The building that you see that is on the beach is full of privately owned condos. I think the Swine Flu scare actually helped us a lot, because all of our guests were upgraded to ocean view and we had the place to ourselves. The only complaints that we had were the food, which varied from terrible to wonderful and the lack of 'included' non-motorized water sports (kayaks and other ocean equipment) which they said was due to them being in the process of attaining permission from the harbor master or something. I have heard that the food at Dreams PV is much better - but the facilities are older and it is much more of a 'party' type of atmosphere, whereas Dreams VM is more relaxed and laid back. If you want to party all night and do body shots, Dreams VM is not the place at all. If you are looking to relax, have good times, drink some beers, and get away from it all, then DVM is the place. Feel free to ask me any specific questions that you might have. Good luck.
  3. I'm glad that some people had a good experience with Leticia. We, however, did not. We hired her back in January when Dream VM just opened. She did a mediocre job at best and did not listen to us with regard to pictures that we wanted (e.g. I wanted a picture of just me and my brother and she said no). Worse than not listening to us, most of her photos were out of focus and EVERY SINGLE ONE had dirt on her camera sensor that reproduced black spots in every picture! This is not what I would call professional. Finally, she did not send us the correct amount of pictures that we had agreed upon with a signed contract. She was hurried, grumpy, and unprofessional. Like I stated earlier, I am happy that some people had a great experience with her and I'm sure that she is capable of producing quality, but for us it was too costly not to let everyone know about a potential pitfall. Just another perspective to consider.
  4. Hi everyone. We got married in PV at Dreams VM awhile back when they first opened and while we had a great time, the main problem that we had was with the photographer. Please take my advice: do not use L & A studios or Leticia Alarcon. She did not adhere to our contract and is unreachable for response. We spent quite a bit of money hiring her and her work was not professional by any means. I'm not being picky - things like out of focus shots and sand and dirt on her camera sensor! Black spots in every picture. This is all in addition to violating the contract that she made with us. Use her at your own risk! Just wish to give everyone the heads up and save you from disappointment. On a positive note, Yolanda, the wedding coordinator at DVM, was amazing! The wedding was perfect and she deserves so much praise for her professionalism and attention to detail. So, DO have your wedding at DVM, but DON'T hire Leticia Alarcon as a photographer.
