I am going to check out a place in Port Hope on Friday for my two spoiled rotton bouviers. The thought of putting them in a kennel just kills me. I have been looking into Pet resorts. There is one in Whitby called Camp lotsa dogs, you can check out their website. Camp LotsaDogs Day & Sleepover Camp for Dogs. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they crate the dogs at night. There is another pet resort in Muskoka, in Huntsville called /www.happytails.on.ca/. The one I am checking out is called Waggin' Tails Ranch & Spa. It's in Port Hope, sounds great and they don't crate, which means alot to me. They have rooms with beds, couches, dog beds on floor and Tv's with doggy movies playing. It is also closer to my home. So I am crossing my fingers that this will be the best place. We have decided to stay only one week in Dominican because of our dogs. Liane Wow, you're going all out! For some reason big dogs, particularly huskies, do NOT like my dog and tend to attack him. I think it has something to do with his overly happy demeanor and he's not exactly a small dog, but not a big dog (he's a pug/bull dog), so they tend to go straight for him and attack to kill! I've had to stop going to the dog park, because even huskies that are supposedly so well behaved (according to their owners) just snap and attack him! This has happened on a few occassions with different huskies, so I'm really scared to leave him at a place with other dogs. -

Ya, it'll be fun to bump into all the ladies we've been sharing ideas and questions with online while at the resort! I just know that I'm doing the symbolic ceremony in the gazebo and the reception at the Seaside Grill (I think!), going with the free package and upgrading as necessary to have a private reception. I'm not going to worry about it too much until we get closer to the date. Lord knows Tiara certainly isn't humouring us anxious brides, so I figure there's not much I can do at this point! Otherwise, I have pretty much everything else planned out in my head, just need to confirm final numbers of attendees in order to start placing orders for things like favours, mugs, etc. I once got so sick in the DR that the doctor had to come to the room and give me an injection (can't remember of what) so that I would stop throwing up. But it was many years ago and pretty much my fault for overindulging for 4 straight days! I really hope no of us get sick on our wedding days! What are you guys doing with your furbabies while you're away? That's the one thing that's making me not want to stay longer than the 1 week. My dog will probably go on hunger strike until we return! -

Hopefully I'm not the stressball in the white dress! Did you guys read the wedding review posted yesterday about the girl who was so sick on her wedding day that she missed the entire reception? Poor thing! Funnily, a few friends of mine have co-workers going to DLR the same week as us and getting married the day before - the 27th. Is that anyone of you guys?? lol -
Ohh, sorry to hear you were sick on your wedding! I guess being in another country it is definitely a possiblity for any DW bride! The pictures you did get are gorgeous though and now you're married to the man of your dreams! Definitely splurge for an AHR, it'd be a great way to make up for lost time!

Thank you ladies for this thread!! My colours are orange and fuscia and I have been trying to convince FI to wear a fuscia tie! He's wearing a gorgeous medium brown suit and the BM's are wearing pink/fuscia dresses and it would look stunning! Hopefully now I have enough proof to convince him! **Bree - where did you make that elf photo? I've only even seen the video! It's sooo cute!

I received written confirmation by email, but it did take quite a long time. I say about 2-3 weeks after the credit card transaction was processed. Hang in there, but if more than 3 weeks has passed by, I would email Tiara again. So hard dealing with 'island time'! -

Mamajuana!

btw, it would be cute to add the little story about it (renowned herbal tonic that is reputed to re-invigorate the flagging spirit at the times you need it most) and/or that it's known as 'liquid viagra'! LOL -

OMG, that is a GREAT idea! I had really liked the idea of Jamaica rum or Mexican tequila, but totally forgot about Dominican Mamajuana - which is strange because one of the groomsmen LOVES the stuff and constantly makes us drink it as his summer bbqs... I am totally going to do that. Thanks! -

I booked HDC Photo for my wedding and their prices are just a wee bit more than the resort photographer, but a much more artistic style (IMHO). Punta Cana Wedding Photographer Hopefully the chair rental is for the whole day. -
Good vibes your way! I'm confident you will be ok if you remain positive!

I'm getting married at 4:30pm. I had requested 4pm but Tiara returned the booking confirmation to me with 4:30, so I thought they had standard times. I still haven't decided if I'm going to attempt to do my own hair... Does anyone know how many weddings DLR does in 1 day? If it's just one per day, then I don't think getting an appt at the hair salon would be difficult, but if it's more then yes, I might just book something ahead of time. -

I also just came across this great website... can't believe I haven't seen it before! Lots of great photos of every inch of the resort including the wedding gazebo! Dreams La Romana, La Romana, Dominican Republic | Oyster Hotel Reviews -

Tiara finally responded saying there is no extra charge for bringing your own photographer - I suppose that doesn't cover the day pass fee. Bringing everything in writing is KEY! -
How did you lose weight before your wedding?
amygirl1169 replied to inspiredfyre's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
You may want to try a cleanse... I did the 9 day Isagenix cleanse last summer and lost 9lbs. It consists of cutting out a lot of crap and replacing 2 meals per day with high protein/fibre shakes and then cleanse days where you just drink this special aloe/herb mix. And no, it doesn't make you have to use the toilet all day! -

Ladies, I can't remember if we discussed this - Does anyone know what/if there is an outside vendor fee to bring your own photographer? I'm looking to book HDC photo as Nicole so kindly referred I haven't had any luck getting a response from Tiara (surprise, surprise, lol!) -

Oops, sorry misunderstood. In that case, I'm pretty sure you don't need to show anything. I think it doesn't really matter one way or another to the resort, as long as they're getting paid and you're not requesting a legal ceremony! -

I believe you're referring to doing a symbolic ceremony - (I think civil still means legal), which can be done by anyone and is not actually legal. We are getting married at City Hall a few weeks prior to our trip and then having the symbolic ceremony at DLR - keeping the legal day very low key and not really inviting anyone because we want everyone to know that the symbolic wedding is what's most important. We're only inviting my grandfather, who at 96, cannot travel to the DR. It seems to be what most brides do, as I've heard getting the paperwork translated and recognized by your home country is very difficult and time consuming. In the case of a symbolic wedding, I believe the WC at the resort officiates the ceremony. I am thinking of having one of our friends or family members do this instead of Tiara, lol.
