  1. Are you booking flights only or a full all inclusive package? I think from Canada it's more economical to book a package rate than a flight/hotel separately. I got an early booking rate on my AI package of about $240 off the regular price and I haven't seen that deal again, but I suppose there's always the possibility of last minute options.
  2. I prefer uncut, I think it looks more 'full' and elegant. Good luck, keep us posted on your decision!
  3. Oh ya, Nadia - have an amazing time! Hope you can track down Tiara for some face time! Can you check for me if it's possible to hang paper lanterns on the patio of the SSG? I know there is the edge of the building to attach them to, but then what? The trees? lol Have a great time, girl!
  4. Welcome another Toronto bride! Good luck picking a destination, that was the most stressful part, but there's tons of helpful information on here to help you decide!
  5. Well said! I think you should start a blog, that way we could all follow your poetic wedding planning! If you think this whole wedding planning thing is a rip off, have you ever bought a house from a builder?! Imagine the feeling x10! $260 per potlight?! Give me a break!
  6. YAY Lisa!! I bet you're boogieing on the dancefloor right now!
  7. I'd call/email the head of group sales or the hotel manager. That's what I did when I couldn't get a hold of the WC and that made her call me asap.
  8. What about those little pomander ball things, similar to what a flower girl would carry? I've seen some DIY sites that make them with silk flowers or paper/tissue: DIY - Pomander Ball - SHARISOSWEET's Black Wedding by Color Blog DIY - Crepe Paper Pomander Balls - MISSTIFF's Black Wedding by Color Blog Hmmm...now I've just given myself another DIY project! lol btw, I think you can also purchase the bigger ones at Wal-Mart
  9. Oh and what were the 2 guests reasons for not wanting to adhere to the white dress code? (Just out of curiousity)
  10. Everything looks great! Love the Tiffany blue accents Have a fabulous wedding day!!
  11. The place I bought my dress from was actually surprised that I was going to take my dress home with me. They made it sound like I was supposed to just leave it with them until about 2 months before the wedding and then I would come in to have final fittings. I was like...ummm, no I want to take it with me (I love to try it on every once in a while when FI's not home )

Jenn, I'm keeping the veil at the tip of my nose so that it doesn't interfere with the 1st kiss But I have seen brides flip it back for the reception, it actually looks really cute! I was playing around with it again last night and I don't even think I need to attach the comb part necessarily, it really holds very well with just a few bobby pins. So ladies, if you can find an 18" wide piece of netting, just pin it into place and attach your flower/feather fascinator on top. It's super easy, I encourage everyone to try it!
  13. Oh wow, how thrilling! Would definitely make it easier to jump out of the plane with your adrenaline already pumping like that!! Congrats! Now how will your DW top that? hehe
  14. Ok, this is the 3rd proposal story I'm reading in a row and now yours has me in tears -- of joy! That's such a thoughtful proposal Lucky girl(s)!
  15. Love that story! With my luck, I would've guzzled it down!
  16. I started out with an e-vite and had only planned to use that. But then once I thought about it, I really wanted to have a keepsake of our wedding, so I made really inexpensive invites on VistaPrint, which directed guests to our wedding website for more details. And as mentioned above, it was better for the older folks who don't use the computer.
  17. I've always thought it'd be cool to do a NYE wedding, because like you said, it gives everyone something to do and a place to go! But through talking with friends I've discovered that it is a VERY unpopular concept! LOL Some people have said it's kind of selfish and then people feel obligated to give up their NYE plans to attend your wedding. But if it's what you guys want to do, then just go for it!
  18. Hmmm...I'm halfway through downloading all the music for our reception and haven't purchased the Bose system yet... might be something to consider. It would be nice to have someone else deal with the music situation -- as long as he plays the music in the EXACT order I have it listed! lol I think I've mentioned this before, but my co-worker's DJ played the wrong first dance song at her wedding!!! Eek!
  19. Great thread!! Ok, my fave thing about my FI is just the way he loves me. So deeply and I could just melt by the way he looks at me. He has such a big heart. I never believed in whole 'the one' theory until I met him. Physically...hmm... he's pretty fit so I'd say his abs or butt hehehe
  20. Great planning thread, Lisa!!! Wishing you the most beautiful wedding day possible!!
  21. Yep, I think that's a pretty common theme for DW brides! We should start a thread with the most ridiculous excuses people have given not to attend their wedding. For the most part the only person that's been forthright with telling me why they aren't coming has been my uncle and he pretty much just said 'Hell no, I'm not going down there!' But meanwhile his wife said forget you, I'm going! Otherwise, my friends that (surprisingly) I don't think will be coming basically just avoided me like the plague when I was trying to get rsvp's for the initial booking. It was really weird... so many people had so much input and seemed like they were for sure coming but when it came to putting down a deposit they were no where to be found! Oh well, c'est la vie! We still have about 35 people coming, so it just makes things less expensive for us!
  22. WOW!!! Don't you even think of looking at other dresses, that one BELONGS to you!!!
