  1. I made mine using blank business cards and self-adhesive business card magnets. I picked a beach background and put "Save the Week...Robby & Melissa are getting married. August 19-27, 2010" and our wedding website.
  2. Maybe so you don't end up registering for the same thing at more than one store? Or so your guests don't buy you something at one store that you registered for at another? I'm not really sure. We're registered at 3 places.
  3. We didn't choose the day....we're doing an embarkation day wedding, and the ship leaves on a Thursday.
  4. I was there about 4 years ago with my friend who was getting married, and we had a good experience. Friends who've had more recent experiences with them have said it's not a place they'd recommend.
  5. I would ask her and tell her you'll understand if she can't make it. The wedding is a year away, maybe her situation will change.
  6. I don't know how my future mother-in-law did it, but my fiance, his 2 brothers and his father were trained very well! None of them leave the seat up!
  7. Congratulations and welcome! Good luck with your planning!
  8. Congratulations and welcome! We're getting married the same week!
  9. Congratulations and welcome! We're getting married the same week!
  10. I love them both! I would've picked the shoes over whale watching too!

Thanks for the suggestion! That's another reason we chose to get married on embarkation day...I would definitely be stressing about the weather until the wedding day.
  12. I just got an e-mail from Staples, their back to school sales are starting!
  13. I've been thinking about doing something extra too, especially now that I'm off for the summer. I hate going to the nail salon to sit and wait for an hour. I think it would be great if there was someone I could call who would come to my house to do my nails for me! I'd start out charging the same as the nail salons in your area, plus gas money. You could raise your prices as your business grows. If you also know how to do eyebrows, or learn, that would be a plus! I'd definitely pay extra for the convenience of having it done at my house! Does anyone have any experience with Dove Chocolate Discoveries? I love chocolate, as do 99% of my friends, so I was thinking it might be a good side business!
  14. Thanks for the link! Maybe you could have a trial the day you get to the resort so you can make sure your hair will be what you want? I also agree with montegobay...take into consideration the wind. Even though I'd like my hair 1/2 up, 1/2 down, I'm going to go with it all up so it's not a mess in the pictures.
  15. We were given a 2 month window for the guests to put their deposits down. My TA is a close friend who does travel on the side (she's also coming with us), so all of our guests have her cell phone number and she answers even when she's away....I'm soooo lucky to have her handling everything! I hope you're able to get everything straightened out!
  16. Fi and I dated for 2 years, on and off, before getting serious. I had been with someone else for 2 years when we met, and it took me another 2 years to completely break things off with the ex. Because of the ex, we had many, MANY arguments and stopped talking several times. In September 2007, we stopped talking and vowed never to see or hear from each other again. My 2 best girlfriends and I have exchanged Christmas gifts every year since elementary school, and had planned to do our exchange that year on New Year's Eve, at D's house before going out for the night. D and Fi's best friend were roommates at the time. S got to D's house before me, and text, "R is here. Wanna meet somewhere else?" I said no, it's ok...I just won't talk to him. I showed up at the house, and all of the feelings for Fi that I never wanted to have came right back. He told me later that he felt the same way. We didn't talk at first, but before we went out that night (Fi and his best friend didn't come out with us), we were talking again like nothing had ever happened. I knew at that moment that he was the one. We figured God must have intervened and brought us together again because it's meant to be. I've never had such a deep emotional connection with anyone. I ditched the ex for the last time, and we got together officially a month later.
  17. I like the first pair better, but I love shoes, so I say get both and be a 2 dress/2 shoes bride!

I want to make sure that they can do the wedding on the day and in the port that I want. Crossing my fingers everything is still available. Most of our guests know our tentative plans and that they should start saving up for a cruise wedding. AAAHHHHH so much to do! Will you be having an onboard wedding? If not, even if there's no wedding packages available for your date, you could always use a non-Carnival wedding coordinator on the island.

This is what I did....We wanted to get married in port in NYC so we could have non-sailing guests (they allow up to 50) so I called before I booked to make sure there was an opening for the cruise we wanted. It's a good thing I called when I did, because there was only one spot left for an embarkation day wedding. The wedding dept put a 48 hour hold on the wedding package for me, so I could contact my TA and book our cabin. My wedding guests have a $25 initial deposit through the TA, but Carnival said that the bride & groom's cabin must have at least a $300 per person deposit in order to reserve the wedding package.
