The night before.....???
hunniebee724 replied to selassie11's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We'll be together up until it's time for me to go get dressed for the ceremony. We live together, and are getting married before the cruise sails, so he'll see me with my hair & makeup done. My dress has been at my parents house since November, and I won't let him see it. That's probably the only traditional thing we're sticking with. -
Neat idea: honoring the mothers
hunniebee724 replied to A10CalGal's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
What a beautiful way to honor the mothers! My mother is going to be hysterical though, so I don't know if I want to add anything else lol. She has been crying since we got engaged last year! We're having 2 poems read, so I think we're going to ask my mom and his mom to read them. -
Hi Kim! Congratulations! I'm in Jersey too :-) You'll find lots of great info here!

Congratulations on your engagement, and welcome to BDW!

Congratulations, and welcome!

When did A Wedding For You contact you about the ceremony? I've been in contact with our WC from Carnival, but haven't heard from anyone at A Wedding for You yet. Thanks!

Tattoo Wedding Rings
hunniebee724 replied to Nrsggrl's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thanks Carolina! I knew it should be a few weeks, but I wasn't sure exactly. He has 4 already, but they were done years ago and he didn't remember how long it took them to heal. -
Tattoo Wedding Rings
hunniebee724 replied to Nrsggrl's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Does anyone who did this have pics? My FI is getting a cheap band because I want to put one on his finger during the ceremony & have one in pics, but he won't wear it. He wants to get my name tattooed on his ring finger (his idea). I told him it needs to be done before we leave for the cruise if he's not going to wear the band, so how long before the wedding should he have it done? -
When to get dress altered.....
hunniebee724 replied to jodieP's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
My appointment is for July 3rd....wedding is August 19th. I thought that was too close to the wedding, but I'm guessing it's normal. I just need to have the bottom hemmed, but there's a lot of beading that needs to be moved up so I may go sometime in June just so I don't freak out about it. -
We got engaged in February '09, but didn't decide on a DW until May. We choose a cruise wedding in June, booked our cruise & wedding package for August 2010 and sent out save the dates right away. We wanted our guests to have as much time as possible to save money. We sent out invitations last week so anyone not coming on the cruise would still have time to change their mind and book. So it will be 14 months from the time we started planning to our wedding day.

Bridal head wear?
hunniebee724 replied to jodieP's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I'm doing a veil & tiara with my hair all up. I would've loved to do half up with curls, but my hair won't hold curls for more than a few minutes no matter how much hairspray is used. -

My due date for them was March 15 and I have still to get 7 back (mind you, I only sent out 24 invites)!!!! Frustrating to say the least. But I wish you the best of luck with everything. Cruise wedding? That's so exciting! Thanks! I was so excited, but also a little surprised that it was my dad's best friend and not a family member! I called my dad and told him to thank D for being so prompt! We made the deadline May 15th because we knew people would probably be late with the responses, and if their info isn't submitted to Carnival by the actual deadline of July 19th, they won't be allowed to board the ship. This way I have time to deal with the late people without getting stressed out, and it also gives non-sailing guests enough time to change their minds and come cruising with us. We chose a cruise wedding because there are people, like our older relatives, who we really wanted at the wedding but knew couldn't travel. This gives us the best of both worlds! I hope you get the rest of your responses back! I will never understand why people can't just sent them back. -
Has anybody tried the Liquid Sun airbrush spray tanning? The place that's doing my hair & makeup offers it, and I was thinking about getting it done before the wedding. I tan easily, so I know I'm going to have a very uneven tan by August, and I'm thinking this will help even it out.

August 2010 Brides!
hunniebee724 replied to randp8910's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Sent out the invitations last week and received our first response yesterday! We're getting married on embarkation day, so we have both cruising (obviously know who they are) and non-cruising guests....hopefully the non-cruising guests will get their response cards back by the May 15th deadline! -

I have to keep all that stuff out of the house. Mine brings home chips and cookies at least twice a week! I make him keep them in his studio, so I can't get to them.

CEPs are just techs, they never went through med school, so I just wanted to make sure there was someone actually following through and evaluating you from a trained perspective. Neurocardiogenic syncope is really our medical term for "fainting" and the most benign, most common cause of fainting, so that is good to hear that you don't have any intrinsic conduction issues or problems with your heart itself. Sounds like you are in good hands then and I will butt out of your business! I seriously can get in trouble someday for being so nosy. Last time I overheard at Macys shoe section, some pregnant woman who was taking Tetracycline antibiotics...and much to my FI's despair, I had to go and butt in and tell her that a pregnant woman should NOT be taking that and stop ASAP....I hope she listened to me and went to see her OB....but she also could have just thought I was a lunatic at Macys.... anyway, sorry for diverting the topic. How excited am I that this has finally started! I too am 3lbs up from where I was last week...boycotting exercise does not work. The only time I actually fainted was during the tilt table test, but I was glad to finally get some kind of diagnosis. It was getting to the point that I thought I was going to have to stop working (I'm a teacher) because I couldn't even write a sentence on the board without feeling like I was going to pass out. I was having shortness of breath and waking up 3 or 4 times a night. Thank God I teach high school and was able to explain to my students what was going on. My mom is nosy, but not just about medical things (she's a nurse)....she'll butt into people's conversations about any subject! Sooo no problem :-) I'm also taking Topamax for migraines, and thankfully one of the side effects is weight loss. I think that's helped me keep my weight stable. I haven't changed my diet or exercised in months and haven't gained weight. I don't know what my weight was in September, but several people at work have mentioned that I've lost weight...I call it the Topamax diet lol. I'm going to start doing the Wii Yoga again tomorrow! I'm ready!

I just went to weigh myself, and my camera battery was dead! Charging it now....will be sending the pics as soon as the battery is ready.

I STRONGLY suggest you see a licensed M.D. or D.O. as soon as possible. Salt tabs can be very dangerous to your health (they affect your brain in a big way) and in the hospital, we only put patients on salt tabs if they have bleeding in their brain (ex. after a stroke). I know this is beyond the scope of this forum, but if you really have a condition that causes your blood pressure to lower to the point of getting dizzy and passing out, you really need to see a real doctor. I can't think of many cardiac arrhythmias that would do this, and the ones that would (ex. Atrial fibrillation) do NOT require salt intake or salt tabs for treatment. Sorry to butt in and I know you weren't asking for advice, but as a physician, what you said makes me concerned. You need a cardiologist or an internist. It seriously makes me cringe when people go to chiropractors or "naturopathic doctors" or other alternatives to real doctors when they have real issues like leukemia, cancer, or advanced cardiac disease, and unfortunately we see the consequences of this all the time in the ER, so I had to share my concerns. Thanks for your concern. I was abbreviating cardiac electrophysiologist (CEP)....my cardiologist referred me to her because I needed to have a tilt table test done. I was diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope. I'm taking fludrocortisone. I was told to increase my salt intake to help keep my blood pressure up.

The electrical system of my heart is out of whack, which causes my blood pressure to drop and major dizziness and tachycardia if I do any kind of cardio or if I stand in one place for too long. Not life threatening, thank God, just a pain in the butt and lifestyle changes had to be made. My cardiac electrophysiologist told me I have to increase my salt intake (yuck--I've never been big on salt), and put me on pills to help retain water and salt...totally NOT what I want when I'm trying to fit into a wedding dress in 4 months! I've been on the pills for a month now, have been feeling better and haven't had any of the swelling side effects, so I think I'm going to be ok as far as that's concerned. I see my CEP again in June, so I'm going to talk to her about exercising when I see her then....maybe I'll be able to get back into it again slowly. Right now, I'll be sticking with yoga and the Wii Fit balance games to keep myself semi-active.

St. Thomas Pretravel Packet
hunniebee724 replied to Tonir's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Great job! St. Thomas is one of our cruise ports, so the shopping tips will be helpful for us too! Thanks! -
I'd like to join in! I got my dress in November, and have managed to maintain my weight, but I was also recently diagnosed with a heart condition and have to limit exercise. Soooo I need some diet help and motivation!

It also happens with regular weddings. My friend just went through the same thing. We're doing a cruise wedding, so anyone who doesn't RSVP won't be on the non-sailing guest list and won't be allowed on the ship....I told my FI I'm not calling or chasing down anybody who doesn't care enough about us to mail back an already stamped envelope. They'll just have to deal with security if they try to show up.

I've been in 3 weddings, and will be in another in October, and only one bride paid for my dress. That was only because it was my aunt's wedding, and I was taking the place of a bridesmaid who dropped out a few weeks before the wedding. My girls are buying their own dresses, but I let them choose their own as long as they're black. I did buy them necklace & earring sets to wear.
