I'm sorry for your loss. :-( She's at peace now and partying up in heaven I'm sure! I think as people get older they become more prepared to pass on. My great-grandmother had her box with the dress she wanted to be buried in and all of the instructions for her funeral ready to go for about 10 years.

That's a terrible thing to do to someone! Does she live in a bubble where nothing bad ever happens?! Bad things happen everywhere! Your FI is right...it's your wedding and all that really matters is that the two of you are there.

Group cruise activities besides the wedding?

We're getting married on the first day, but my fiance's birthday (and his best friend's, if he goes) is on the next to last sea day (it's an 8 day cruise) so we're thinking of inviting everyone to go to the supper club that night for dinner. -
I'm not putting "formal invitation will follow" on my save the dates. I have time, but I'll probably only send invitations to our parents (for a keepsake) and people who haven't booked yet. I figure the purpose of the invitation is to RSVP, and if they've already booked, we know they're coming.

I think it depends on the cruise line. I'm not doing centerpieces. It's only a one hour reception because we're doing it in port before embarkation. I doubt anyone is going to notice if there are centerpieces or not, and I'd rather spend the extra money on favors and OOT bags.

I also confess that I'm feeling bad for FI that his friends are telling him our wedding cruise is too expensive even though they have over a year to pay for it, and mine can't wait to book.

Congratulations and welcome! We chose to do a summer wedding because I'm a teacher. We booked over a year in advance so our guests will have enough time to plan time off of work. I'd love for our family and friends to be able to make it, and we have about 15 people already wanting to book (we're sending out the info this week), but in reality, all that matters to me is that our parents and brothers are there, and I marry my fiance....anyone else who comes is a bonus.

As for RSVP's, our website has a section for that and we're asking the guests to RSVP once they've sent in their deposits.

We're sending our save the dates out this week because the travel agent we're going through wants everybody to have their $25 deposit in by August 11th. She's holding a block of rooms but since we're getting married during a peak vacation time, she can't hold them very long. People can still book after that, but the price may go up. We're sending magnets that say "save the date," our names, the cruise dates, the cruise line and our website. My TA gave me payment cards so I'm going to include a brochure explaining the wedding, the cruise, and the pricing and payment plans.

My brother is an XXXL. He's 18 and shops mostly at Dr. Jay's....they're in the NYC area, but you could try drjays.com. He also gets some things from kingsize.com -

Has Anyone Done a Rose Ceremony?

I hadn't heard of it until we got our wedding package from Carnival. It's in the sample ceremony they sent. I don't know if we're going to do it, but it does sound really nice.
