I know how you feel! My family made a huge stink and still to do this day are secretly bitching to other family members! Its ridiculous. Calling MY parents (who by the way have shelled out tons of money for literally everything I have done in my entire life) CHEAP!!!! Because they are not holding me a huge traditional connecticut wedding. How in the world does me and FH choosing a DW make my parents cheap!!? She seemed really rude in the email. But that is how email is. You have to take everything with a grain of salt, next time she emails you, just pick up the phone and call her so everything can be clear and not misunderstood. Good luck and make the decision you and FH want! Not what everyone else wants!

We are getting married in January 2010 but we are having our AHR before then. We are calling it our "Almost Married" reception! Which is this August back in Connecticut where I was born and raised. So we are flying home for that reception. Then after the wedding we are having a reception in UT. for all the people who couldnt make it from here!

We chose saturday as well, so that if people could only fly in friday-monday then they would be there for the wedding!

On Christmas Eve (200 Dallas(future hubby) presented me with my last gift and it was a big and heavy box. I opened the box to find tons of tissue paper and another box(which were all duct taped closed). I proceeded to open the next box which was also full of tons of tissue paper and when I removed all the stuff the box was full of COAL. I sat there stunned for a moment. I have never received coal ever. Even though my Grandpa Oo Oo used to tease me about it when I was little. So I said "why would you give you me coal?".. sort of snarky, upset, and shocked but also laughing. I didnt even know how to react. And Dallas replied with "I thought you said you wanted a rock!" waited about 5 mins for the family to stop laughing etc and He then proceeded to stand up and pull the ring out of his pocket. He got down on one knee and asked "meagan, will you marry me?" I do not even remember saying yes! Dallas also had spoken with my parents the friday before asking for their permission! I stilll can not believe he walked around all day with the ring in his pocket!! and he didnt lose it! lol I still think about how quickly it happened and its crazy I waited for what feels like forever for him to ask and he finally did and I was TOTALLY caught off guard... and that was def. his goal!!! Love him! Cant wait to be married!!!! (6 months from today!)

I am also doing this for our almost married reception this august!! My concern is the flash going to shine out the writing on the boards. I will have to practice and do some trial runs to see how it will work best.Anyone done a test run? Im thinking about asking the oldest boy I used to babysit for if we would want to do it and I would pay him! lol. If not I may recruit some bridesmaids.

Oh man all mighty! Good luck girl! I think you should book her the lowest class room, YOUR paying for it! let her think she is getting the best room ever, and then to her sweet little surprise, she is in the basic perfectly fine standard room!!!!!! I second what courtney boo said Id be a smart ass with a smile.. ooH it would ruffle her feathers! My fmil is not too bad but she lives almost 2 hours from us. But my best friends MIL is a psycho. Opinions where not needed and her son is perfect and my friend is practically an idiot to this woman. I always tell my friend to stick up for herself and give it right back its the only way she will learn!!! What is it with MIL's??

Question I love love love the marker board idea.. However Im concerned that in the pictures the flash will blur out the writing etc? Has anyone had issues where they cant see their writing on the marker boards in the photo?
