  1. No blood work is good...but why on earth would they need it?
  2. Hi Ladies...a little off track here, but I think we might have to hook up while we're all at RMB! I land on May 1...we can have a drink to celebrate our nuptuals, and that your weddings will have gone off without a hitch! No problem mon! Just take everything in stride. If something little didn't happen, that something little didn't need to happen. Everything will be perfect!
  3. I'd think flowy, light dresses would be best for TTD. You just have to remember, the dress will be sopping wet so it'll become MUCH heavier than when it's dry. I think that the TTD sessions are the only thing (besides marrying my love) that I really care about in my wedding!
  4. OH THANK GOODNESS! Thanks for setting our nerves right again BeachBride21!
  5. ALLLRIGHT! I just bought my dress and it's a heavy one, so we better be having this breezy beach reception, because my dress is made for the cooler nights!
  6. Oh man...I hope this isn't true! We need a disco!
  7. One question that I never thought to ask before: Was there a way for people to perform speeches? (i.e. was there a microphone setup and pedestal or something like that?) I really want this beach reception, but it's of utmost importance that my dad can do his speech. I think he has been writing it for years!
  8. oh *WOW* thanks for sharing! I'm going to stay tuned for the trash the dress photos!
  9. Always a good idea to get a cheapie dress for TTD pics! I can't wait to see the real thing! Congrats on such a fantastic find!
  10. We've got a pretty large gap too...ceremony at 2 and reception (probably and hopefully) at 6. I figure I'm going to want a nap between those times too! It's definitely going to be a looooong day!
  11. Very strange. I doubt the disco disappeared. What kind of hotel would it be if there wasn't one?? Some people like dancing, even if it's not for a wedding... I'm interested to see the end of this saga...even if I do find out when I get to the resort.
  12. I'm definitely doing this too...40 people at $55 per head is a small price to pay for having people talk about it for months afterward! The sinister side of me wants this too, so the people who actually bothered to save for our wedding will love, love, LOVE it and go home bragging to the lazy ones who also had a year and a half to save. Muahahahahahaha!
  13. I have been watching this thread for months now, and there's always new information available! I think, after searching and thinking about the options for making our wedding memorable we're going to end up doing the beach reception. It costs a bit extra regardless (of so I hear) but think about it: who has a reception on a beach in the evening where you can see the moonlight and hear the waves crashing? As long as no one gets too rowdy and tries to go swimming in the middle of the night, it could very well be the time of our lives!
  14. It would have to be plenty loud...Im guessing the wing and the waves from the beach could make for some loud background sounds.
  15. I'm totally leaning towards a beach reception! I;ve read on here that guests thought it was the best idea ever, and even months later are still talking about it! I think also the food is different than what is offered with the regular wedding packages.
  16. That worked perfectly! Thanks for this info...we are still on the fence about who we want for a photographer, so this really helps!

    Hey!

HEY! We're getting married @ RMB on May 5! COngrats, and welcome!
  18. I'm trying to pressure the FI into taking me to RMB for a vacay to alleviate my S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) symptoms once winter comes. Hey...we're getting married there, we may as well scope the place out...right?
  19. We're not doing OOT bags, since I'm pretty sure we won't know any final numbers of guests until we count them on the plane! When we get back from the wedding, the FI and I want to frame individual pictures of each guest and us in a hollow frame that we can fill with sand and shells from the beach we were on. We need to do a bit of preplanning here, to make sure that we get a picture with each and every guest on our wedding day, and we'll print out the picture, frame it, then mail it to the guests with the thank you cards after the wedding. The only snag I've come accross is where to find these frames that I can fill with sand!
  20. I'm not 100% sure I even want to do any extra ceremony at the wedding. I'm so simple, the ceremony they provide may just be fine with me! But I still have almost 9 months to think about it, so thinking I will do!
  21. Hey everyone! I've been snooping on a lot of websites and seeing pictures of couples jumping over a broom after their beach ceremony in Jamaica. Does anyone know the significance of this? To me, it just seems like an awesome, cute idea. But there has to be some deeper reason that couples do this, other than the fact that it seems cool. I'm also guessing that there's some significance of mixing two different coloured sands together afterwards too? I'm such a newbie at this wedding symbolism stuff!
  22. Oh wait, I just realized I didn't even answer the question! We wanted an english island where we didn't have to translate any of the legal documents to another language. Also, no one's been to Jamaica yet, so we all wanted to have a great experience on the island that everyone's heard so much about! It doesn't hurt that the grass flows freely down there either.
  23. Our resort just landed in our laps! Our TA told us about it, and said we'd get 1 in 11 guests to go for free, and we just went with it! From the looks of it, Riu Montego Bay seems like a great choice for us, too!
  24. Thanks for the review! It's so helpful in envisioning what our wedding day will be like! I'm feeling more and more prepared, even though I haven't lifted a finger yet! I'm so glad everything went smoothly for you. After all the planning you've done, and all the help you've provided the rest of us RMB brides, you deserve every perfect moment you had!
