Dimenzi - I just returned today after having my wedding on May 7th, I will be writing a review as soon as I get settled in. Regarding your question about the menu options, Ramon will let you mix and match from both the Gold and Silver package options. We had the Pecan Crusted Mahi Mahi with the Chicken stuffed with Seafood and it was delicious. If you have any other questions let me know.

Endlesslove: I sent him an email on Monday and he replied the following morning. I sent him another email yesterday but have not received a reply just yet. We leave next Tuesday and the wedding is on Friday. I can't wait. What day do you arrive? I wouldn't stress out too much. You might want to try calling him. He's usually in the office and can answer all of your questions in a few minutes. Best of luck!

endlesslove: Glad to hear everything has worked out with Ramon. We too are having a small group of people, 11 including us, and are not having a dj. At the moment our choice is to still get the Gold Package since the Trio is included as are flowers, bouquets, etc.. We will be having the Trio for the cocktail hour and and Ipod during the reception. When did you talk to Ramon? My wedding is on May 7th and we havent hatched out all of the details just yet. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I think i'm going to do the same thing, use 2 centerpieces for the reception and not worry about the actual ceremony..i'm bringin bubbles, wonder if they are ok to use I actually called Ramon yesterday hoping it would be easier to communicate and get the answers to my questions right away as apposed to waiting for him to reply. I speak spanish so it work out better than I thought. He was sooooo nice over the phone. I think everything is going to work out now and I can sleep peacefully. He did confirm the price for outside vendors is $100 per person and $70 for outside guests that are attending the wedding ONLY. If the guests want to stay longer, to hang out at a bar, the price is also $100. The sound system is $500 for 3 hours. Apparently the system is included in the package for the ceremony ONLY. However, since the resort hosts events in the evening they have to rent the sound system. The hotel does have ipod docking stations that might work but he suggested we bring our own. Not sure why if the hotel has one already but I might call back and ask. He also asked me to send him a copy of the guest list and let him know if there are any food allergies or dietary restrictions. Oh, before I forget, there were some changes that I wanted to make to the Gold package and he said that they usually dont allow it but that he would allow it. I was shocked but I'm thinking they usually do this but dont put it in writing. I hope things flow this way once we get down there as well. I hope this helps!!!

Thanks to everyone for replying. Regarding the day passes, Ramon mentioned a day pass for the wedding only is $70 dollars. If any of our OUTSIDE guests will be staying well after the reception then the guest pass is $100. Is the guest pass different than a vendor pass? Lord if this is the case I will have to go back to Ramon and have him confirm the price since we will be having an outside photographer and his assistant. I am starting to freak out! I really hope things run a lot smoother once we get down there.

Thanks for replying mich&adam. We arrive on Tuesday, May 4th! Unfortunately you'll be gone by then. We decided to go with the Gold Package but will be brining our own photographer. I was reading on another post, or maybe it was here, where someone who was dealing with Ramon wouldn't allow them to substitute the photographer with guest passes. Then someone else who delt with Nayeli mentioned that she offered them two guest passes since the package photographer was not being used. I also want to make a few other changes to the package and I am a bit worried that Ramon will not allow it and make me stick to the choices of the package only!!! I'm starting to freak out.

We will be getting married at ERC on May 7th. There will only be 14 of us and figured getting a dj would not be worth it for us. We are going with the Ipod instead. We are getting legally married in the States the Saturday before the wedding and having a symbolic ceremony. Now that Veronica is no longer working at ERC i've been receiving emails from Ramon. Are any of you working with Ramon? I read a recent review in which Nayeli took care of all of the wedding details and wanted to know if Ramon works with you via email but Nayeli is the person you deal with once you are there. Any idea?

Are there any upcoming brides getting married at the Excellence Riviera in the upcoming months? My wedding is on May 7th and I've been working with the onsite WC but feel like as the day approches final decisions should be made. I'm wondering how far in advance before the wedding was everything finalized. Also, we are having a welcome dinner the night before the wedding at Agave, which the WC is also setting up for us. Do any of you know if there is an additional charge for this? One final question, are you having a DJ for the reception? Our group is small, about 20, and I'm not sure if we need one. If we decide to use an ipod, does the resort have a docking station or do we have to bring our own? Thank you all for your help!!! x

Hailee - I was also torn between Secrets Maroma and Excellence Riviera. My fiancee and I sat down and put a list together of the pros and cons of each and finally decided to go with Excellence Riviera. We were looking for a resort with a lot of pools, many options for dinner and most importantly to look like a Mexican resort. I've stayed in many resorts in Mexico where it doesn't even feel like I'm in Mexico rather in any other place in the world. Given that Secrets Maroma just recently opened the grounds were not fully grown and the layout of the pools was not ideal for us. Also, while emailing with the WC for both I felt a lot more comfortable with the Excellence team. I participated in a webinar, which I think is coming up again, for the Excellence resorts and at the end decided this was our best choice, for us. Best of luck!

Sheen - Congratulations and welcome to the forum. I too am getting married at ERC. My wedding will be on May 7th 2010. I was debating on either ERC or Secrets Maroma for my wedding and due to the reviews I was sold on ERC. I've spoken and emialed with the wedding coordinator at ERC on various occasions. She was quick and answered all of my questions. After booking our air/hotel I sent her this information and she sent me confirmation number. This was about 2 months ago and have not heard from her since. I'm not worried or anything as in her email she stated that we would make final decisions on everything a month before the big day. If you have any specific questions please let me know. I'll gladly try to answer them as best as I can. Again, congratulations!

It's probably due to any unforeseen circumstances that could (but probably wont) eventuate such as redecoration or damage to particular location (once again that most probably wont happen). I just received an email from Veronica confirming the location for the Ceremony. In her email she stated that they are not able to confirm locations for the cocktail hour and reception until one month before the wedding. As for decorations, she said that the decorations depend on the package that I choose. I chose the Gold Package therefore I get two centerpieces, chair covers and table linens. She said anything else will be at an extra charge. Have any of you been married on the Pier? If so, how did that work out? This is where we plan to get married but I'm worried about privacy, the size of the pier and the sound quality with the wind/waves. Any information any of you can provide will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Shocka - I would appreciate it if you could send me any pictures that you might have. Especially the set up for Agave and the Lobster House. My email address is [email protected] . Thanks a million!!

Dimenzi - It does look nice because it doesn't look like the restaurant at all. It's on the first floor and you have a view of the ocean. I tried to post the picture but had no luck. Can anyone help with instructions on posting pictures? It's a jpg. file and I dont have access to photobucket, etc. while at work. Veronica also sent me pictures of an area outside the Agave restaurant called, Plaza Garibaldi. I would love to post these as well. Does anyone have pictures of a reception inside Agave? My wedding is on a Friday and she stated that this is the restaurant that is closed on Fridays. Would like to see what it looks like set up. Thanks everyone!
