I think it is a great idea, if you are having a dj or an emcee you could have them announce that you are now doing the father/daughter dance and why you choose the song, so you could be dancing while he is speaking. I went to a wedding where they had pre-recorded themselves (the bride and groom talking about the song-for their 1st dance, father/daughter, mother/son and the story behind it) and it played softly during the beginning of the song and it was so nice, it really added a personal touch. I went through this and still am to a point, but I agree with the other girls, just think about what is important to you and how you want your wedding to be and do it, I just sent out my invites and I can't believe the support I am getting from close friends. Good Luck!

I was also wondering why my FIL's didn't offer to pay for anything. My FFIL just retired so I understand they don't have tons to spend but at the same time they spend like crazy on themselves, and I figure we are saving them money because they don't have to pick up the bar tab and the rehearsal dinner. But they have just complained about it all. I really wish they would offer their backyard up for an AHR my family can provide the food & booze if maybe they just have a tent there. Who knows I just wish they would at least offer support of the wedding and not be so negative !! We probably wont be able to afford an AHR if they don't offer anything!

Thanks everyone! I think that the perforating is a nice detail, but with that many (we did 130 invited with 4 pages each) it was just too much for me. For some reason we couldn't get it to perforate straight down the page and doing them individually was out of the question for me-too impatient. Good luck though it was worth it!

I just saw the end of his interview with Leno and he 'seemed' choked up, but maybe he should not say or do rude things in the first place. I hope he was really apologetic and wont do anything rude again

No matter what there is always going to be people who complain, I am having a similar situation, my FI's aunt just offered to look into venues locally - we all ready booked! and her daughter did a DW!!! Whatever I just keep saying that we will be there and if people don't want to come then that's their loss. I do have to say though that my grandma (who thinks we shouldn't get married at all b/c we are growing up too fast and hates the idea of a DW - "why mexico") is coming around before my FI's family - so miracles happen...lol

Finally!! I am done with the Invites, it took forever and many times throughout the process I wanted to just give up and buy some invites. But after reading so many DIY threads it kept me motivated to make them. Thanks to all the Brides on this forum for their help and templates and Alyee of Alyee Bits for the template! All said and done I love them and I am glad we did them - they were less than $200 for 150 invites!! Here they are my first DIY project all done!! Yeahh!! Here is the envelopes and the front of the Boarding pass ticket jacket And here is the inside of the ticket jackets there is a flyer from the hotel & my travel agent taped on the top of the ticket jacket The Boarding passes I used a paper cutter to cut them all out, and we tried to perforate them but it took forever and we couldn't get it to look perfect, so we stopped doing them. I used a corner rounder punch to do the edges but that was pretty frustrating - I'm not sure if it was just mine but it would ruin some of them, then I cut with scissors the inside nook. I used a Martha Stewart fold tool to fold the jacket perfectly. I did a mail merge with clear labels, return address labels on vista print with our logo and regular business size envelopes it fit perfectly! So glad to have them all done - it was a lot of work but I am glad I did it!!
