Yes we definitely did. People are throwing me showers like its a traditional wedding & we are having a big AHR, so I am treating it like any other wedding. As always, I don't feel that people have to purchase things from it, but for those who look for guidance when gift giving, I think it is fine to have it for them to choose from. To me its just like if our wedding was at home.

I am staying at Sandos Caracol. It isn't by 5th Avenue, but the hotel does run a free shuttle every hour, so it wouldn't be bad at all going into town. I am not sure if the Walmart is near 5th Ave or not. Anyone know? The florist info would be great! Thanks for all the help!!! I'm really not being picky, on flowers, so it doesn't really stress me to wait, but I kind of want to budget for something.

I know this is an old thread, but thanks for all the sites. I decided to do this long ago, but just can't quite figure it out. I get frustrated with the sites that sell the lids separate. Plus I need some with a spray thing. I have been buying lots of stuff with coupons and getting them free. I even planned on emptying some of my free stuff and using those bottles so they will match. I plan on using regular labels, its okay if they ruin in the shower, they will only have enough for one or two showers really. Can't wait to check out all these sites.

I have been to Playa del Carmen a couple times, but I do not recall going near a market to buy flowers. I am interested in just picking up my own flowers. I'm not picky, so just whatever is pretty & colorful. Do you think I can find this? It needs to be in or near downtown Playa, I don't think we will venture much further. Dumb question, but is Walmart there similar to here? Do they have flowers?

Okay so I designed this in powerpoint I plan on getting 250 for free with Vista (well, I will pay upload fee). I only have 30 people going to my wedding so my plan is to use them for luggage tags, key holders, and maybe even photo share cards. I am thinking about printing labels for the back (one with name addresses, one explaining key holder, and one with photo share info). Do you guys think this is a good idea? Too much of the same thing? I just hate to see things go to waste even if they are free plus I don't like to design inside Vista so I always upload my own image, so I want to get as many uses as possible out of it! Let me know your thoughts! BTW, the template is in my planning thread if you need it.

Hi all! So today I was given a ton of chapstick tubes. If you know how to make your own chapstick or are super anal about everything matching (like me), you can melt some chapstick and pour it into the tubes--put your label on and voila! Okay I have no clue if its that easy, but the lady who gave them to me said it is. I may try the melting idea with some chapstick I have bought, but she gave me a ton and I won't need them all. I will gladly just charge shipping. So if you need them let me know how many and I we can figure out shipping costs.

I love Vista Print too, I have only ordered a couple things for the wedding, but I've used them for other things too. Has anyone gotten free totes or $6.99. That would be awesome!!! I have had some resolution problems too, but I usually try to make it twice the size in powerpoint so I don't have that problem. It usually helps. I did it with a banner and had lots of problems, but other than that I haven't had any resolution issues.

I would so give anything to have the gazebo option! I never wanted to get married in sand! I want to wear great high heels and overlook the beach, but not stand on it. But I chose a resort that would be more cost effective so I could get more friends and family to go. Luckily its working, we have almost double the guests than we had originally expected. But I lost out on my gazebo dream. Bummer. Still trying to work with my wedding coordinator to find a good option.

I paid a deposit with them and then chose to not use them (and lost the deposit). My TA was extremely not helpful. I did more searching than she did. I finally ended up going with a family friend who is a travel agent. I was so skeptical at first because, I didn't think she would know much about weddings, but I'm a big planner so I have done most of the wedding planning myself and she has been so helpful on getting me information and helping with communication with the resort. All in all it sounds like if you get good TA it can be good, but I don't think they have the best deals, so I woud recommend using someone you know or someone on here. At the very minimum someone who has been recommended by someone you know or someone on here. I don't think the company is what is important--its the person!

I just read a thread about knock offs and it made me think to ask about this dress. I love it! I found it on a Chinese website that makes knock-offs. I'm not opposed to this, but I'm nervous, I have read mixed reviews about the company. I would like to at least know the cost of buying it from the designer, but I can't figure out who it is. If anyone has seen this anywhere, let me know please. I would also like to try it on. I am also considering having it made locally. I would change a couple of things about it and it would obviously fit perfect, but we'll see. Thanks!

Does anyone have a real touch bouquet to sell or lend (rent) out. I am not looking for anything in particular. My colors are blue, but I love lots of colors so I am open to lots of things. I am not particularly sentimental, so I will be glad to return it. I just love the idea of sharing expenses with someone else, as important as this day is--it is only one day. Thanks in advance!

We definitely put both on our STD. I felt that most would only care about the AHR--I sent these to everyone and let them decide on what was best for them--wedding, reception or both. I don't think it is effecting who is traveling. Those who could afford the trip, time off work, and didn't have other vacation plans are going to the wedding. I couldn't find a good way to word it on my STD, but I thought it would be clear since most people knew my plans since I talk to most everyone. But I did get few questions about it. I can't get the pic to work, but its here. This was a postcard from VistaPrint. The website link is on the back. I also did some magnets from Vista that I gave to close family.

We are having 30 in Mexico and about 200 at the AHR. We sent save the dates to everyone with a link to our website--they also had both dates on them. Everyone was welcome to go to Mexico with us, but we knew only close friends and family would be able to go. Our AHR is about a month after the wedding. I'm just not sure what I'm doing for invitations yet though.

Has anyone had or is anyone planning on having a steel drum? Where did you find them, how much were they? I have only been able to find one and it is way more than I expected. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I don't want to give up on having one, but right now its not looking so good. Help please!

I'm couponing like crazy too! I've bought almost everything for my OOT bags with coupons and gotten most of it free! At first my FI thought I was crazy, but now he's really proud of all my bargains. There are somethings we just have to pay for, so I'm trying to save on the small thins as much as possible. To the person who made progrm fans from Vista, I would love to learn more. I was thinking about using the oversized postcards then possibly cutting them, but I'm not sure. I know I plan on getting wooden fan handles at local festival next week. They hand out fans everywhere, so it should not be hard to get 30 of those. In fact, I might be able to get some hand sanitizer too, I will have to scope that out. Keep the budget ideas coming!!!

Thanks everyone! I am getting married at Sandos Caracol. My fiance' and I have been there twice and really enjoyed it. We really wanted to try somewhere different, but after months of searching we decided to go to a place we knew we had enjoyed before. Their communication is not the best, so I haven't gotten much planning done, but I'm sure most will be done when we get there. Anyway, I"m getting very excited, we have about 30 people who are going with us. I'm so excited to vacation with so many friends and family!

Hello all! I am getting married in just 3 months in Mexico! I have a lot of planning done in my head, but lots to actually do. I've been engaged since December, so I'm obviously a procrastinator. But it will all come together. I've been reading some things on this forum for a few days now and I'm getting lots of great ideas!
