Hi ladies, I'm hoping someone out there can shed some light on my situation, as I'm very new to this. A few weeks ago, I received a quote from a travel agent for three resorts that I was interested in. The quote was for the cost of one week away at an all-inclusive resort, including taxes. The resort I liked was actually the least expensive, but the quote was for mid-April next year and I was interested to know the pricing for the beginning of May. I asked the travel agent to look into quotes for later in April and the beginning of May, as I wanted to compare the pricing. The quotes came back for these weeks, as well as another quote for the same week in mid-April that had been referenced in the first quote. Except this time the quote for the same week in mid April was significantly higher - several hundred dollars more. The only difference is that this quote arrived approximately 3 weeks later. Does anyone know the reason for this large difference in price?

I am totally in the same boat! My fiance and I want to pick a date at the end of April/beginning of May 2011 and I am really uncertain how much info to provide on the STDs. I know the resort we want, but technically we don't even have a month yet! I'm waiting for the travel agent to get back to me with the rates for each month before I commit to one specific week. I want to have a wedding website to provide updates re pricing, deposits and booking etc, but my fiance is not crazy about the idea. The more I look into it, the more I think it's a pretty necessary component of the whole thing.

I don't have to send my STDs out for quite a while, but you ladies have given some great advice regarding the time lines. Thank you!!

Hi Everyone! Just became engaged two weeks ago, and my fiancé and I have decided we want to do a DW. So let the planning begin! We're looking at a long engagement (probably April or May 2011) because we just bought a house last year and need a bit of financial breathing room (if you know what I mean) before taking the plunge! We're also planning to hold a reception back in Toronto after the wedding. My sister was married in DR (Punta Cana) in 2003 and she will definitely be a valuable resource for me. From the looks of it, I'm going to get a LOT of planning advice from this site too! Can't wait! Melodie
