We sent out Save the Dates in June. I wanted them out in April, but my fiance was slow getting his guest list together. Â We've ordered the invitations and I just got word that they are on the way. I probably won't send them until the beginning of November with an RSVP deadline of Jan 31st. I'm also putting in an insert about dates to remember (early bird bonus booking deadline and final booking deadline) and a reminder of the website address, where all the booking information is.

Has anyone had any difficulty reaching Nina? She mentioned she was going on vacation for a week, but I think she is back now. I sent her an email almost 3 weeks ago and then again last week. No response yet...

sash sharing (freecycle)

I am also on the hunt for turquoise sashes! A deepser turquoise colour, as opposed to aqua. Not having a lot of luck so far! -

It really depends on the day! Â

Stephdanny, I ordered through Angels Accents. I actually ordered them back in April (just because I already knew what I wanted), but she was booked through to November at that time. I'm scheduled to receive the flowers in January. Here is the link to their website: Â http://www.angelsaccents.com/ Â Hope this helps! Also, under the General Info section of the boards, there are a few threads on real touch or floramatique flowers.

The town that is near the resort is called Lucea. I drove through there a few times, but did not see any flower shops. The resort recommends Tai Floral. I am bringing down real touch bouquets and making my own centrepieces out of fake flowers.

No problem! I'm so excited that I had a chance to see the resort before the big day

CanadianSandy, you're my first wedding twin

Hello!  It's been a while since I've posted, but lots of planning still happening!  I actually picked up my dress at the beginning of August I bought it out of town, so now I need to find a good alterations place in my city. It's nothing urgent, but I'll start looking into it sooner rather than later.  Working on invitations now. The save the dates went out in June and I think we want to send the invites out by October. This will give us a better idea of who is serious about attending the wedding down south and our at home reception.  And I just got back from Jamaica, where we had a chance to do a site visit at our resort We decided on the resort last May, but we had never been to it. This forum was very helpful in narrowing down the options. It's sort of scary choosing the place where you're getting married without having seen it. At least it's scary when you're a control freak like me  I left the resort after our site visit feeling very excited and relieved at the same time. I am absolutely thrilled. I feel like we made the right choice for us:)  I am so excited now! I can't wait for May 2011!!!!

Hi fellow GP Brides!!  I just returned from Jamaica:) I'm not getting married until May of next year, but my fiance and I were attending a friend's wedding in Negril at a different resort, so we made an appointment to do a site visit of GP.  The tour did not start off so great - I've been dealing with Kimberley, and as it turns out, the day of our tour was her final day at the resort At first, they asked if we could re-schedule, but we had just taken a cab from Negril ($40 each way), so rescheduling would have really put a crimp in our plans AND it's expensive! Nina (the manager) came out to meet us. She apologized for the mix-up and spent the next 2 hours with us showing us all of the ceremony sites and possible venues for the reception and answering all of my many questions. She is absolutely lovely. By the time I left, I was so excited, I hugged her  I have my heart set on the gazebo for the ceremony, but one thing I have to share with you is that all of the ceremony sites are quite beautiful. We saw the beach site first, and as it is near the end of the resort (on the Lady Hamilton side), it is fairly private, given the fact that it's on a beach. I think there will be less issues with people walking through the pictures than I have seen at other resorts. Nina told me they are looking into getting a nicer archway for the beach site. Not sure when that would happen.  The gazebo site is just as beautiful as imagined it would be. It's quite a large gazebo compared to others I have seen and it is in a very private location, which I love. The only issue with the gazebo site is that it cannot seat a lot of people if it rains, as the site would get a bit muddy in that situation.  I have to say the "back-up" location (the spa) is also very beautiful. Nina said they use that location for very large weddings. I can honestly say that if it rains on my wedding day, I won't be that upset, because the backup location is fabulous as well.  When I arrived at the resort, I was pretty convinced that I wanted the Blue Lagoon for my reception. And I really loved the Blue Lagoon. Until I saw the Poseidon. Because we are estimating about 40 to 50 people at our wedding, I think the Poseidon is actually the perfect size for our reception. And the restaurant is white and turquoise (my wedding colours are turquoise, white and green). I still have to discuss it in more detail with my fiance, but I think we're going to go with the Poseidon instead! I also like that it is quite separate from the rest of the resort. That may be a drawback for some people, but for me it is a bonus!  I was so excited at the end of my tour. Honestly, when you choose to do a DW, you are giving up some control. Normally, people see the wedding/reception location where they are getting married before they book. We didn't have that option. I am thrilled with this resort. It is HUGE and absolutely beautiful  Let me know if you have any questions!  Mel

Nicola, that is fantastic news!!! You must be so pleased:)

We booked the same insurance - cancellation, trip interruption, lost luggage and medical. It worked out to $150 for each of us with taxes included. I kept going back and forth about it, and finally decided to just book it. I just can't risk not having it. I updated my website to give everyone information about the insurance if they are interested and directing them to my TA.

Welcome to the forum, Dana! Good luck with your planning:)

Check out the Wedding Reviews Section. The brides who have been through it post their honest opinions of what they liked and didn't like about the resorts they chose. It really helped me narrow my options. Good luck!

Hi Bri! Welcome and congrats! You will find tons of information in this forum. Good luck with your planning

Congrats and welcome! I would be completely lost without this forum

Kendra, if you check under the threads in General Wedding Information, you will find brides posting by the month and year they are getting married. Not sure if there's a thread for June 2011 yet, but if there is it would likely be there. Hope this helps! Best of luck with your planning

Welcome, fellow May 2011 bride! I totally understand your nervousness. You definitely have to accept that you are relinquishing some control when you decide to have a DW. But I think it's totally worth it! This Board has a ton of great information. Congrats and happy planning

Welcome, Carrie! I went to Aruba a number of years ago and it was very beautiful. Gorgeous beaches. Congrats and happy planning!

Good choice, Danyelle! Not that I'm biased or anything

I spent a ton of time in the Wedding Reviews section of the forum. I find most people try to be as candid as possible in laying out what they liked and what they didn't like. It helped me final settle on the resort that I wanted.

Welcome, Nathalie! We're excited for you Congratulations and happy planning!
